Absolutely unacceptable!

Ok, so during the stream today, which just ended, the challenge was a guild vs. random BAMs.

Well, it turns out someone forgot to activate the wall, and so, during the Unkillable wave (Wave 9), Kelsaik was literally kited to the wall so that we can take out the dudes (I scored a couple killing blows this way, and i wasn't even in it).

So, what does Spacecats do? He spawns a bunch of Level 69 Bams to clear out the audience, then DC's everyone.

Absolutely unethical and unacceptable. i just wasted a Goddess Blessing just because Spacecats wants to punish the audience. Virtually unacceptable.

Rant done.

You thought getting pooped on by level 69 bams and disconnected fun? Hmmm

So spacecats did a ragequit on all of you because of a system shenanigans that a few clever blokes found and exploited?
  • It was actually a fun part of the event =) We all enjoed watching you die. <3
  • To the OP, if you bothered to watch the stream, he saw people helping out and after several minutes he realized that due to people interfering from the outside, the event was being SEVERELY delayed for other servers, so he spawned bams as a little joke to 'toughen up' the challenge. And if people DCed that was an accident because its known that as he continually spawns bams, it gets tougher on the servers and can cause crashes for many people, as a matter of fact i believe he crashed twice during the event due to spawning them.

So before you go and cry about about an event, realize what it is that is happening and stop assuming its someone simply being mean. To be fair if you were hitting the bam, you should have expected to get some sort of punishment for interfering with the event.
  • @Nopi , it was a few clever blokes that found it, then EVERYONE exploited upon it.

Listen, there are far more ethical and acceptable ways to control the audience. Heck, even @Spacecats threw down some BAMs right outside the arena after the event. Maybe if he spawned them outside the arena rather than right into the crowd, that might be a good distraction. Literally, I happen to turn around, and suddenly "HEY, GUYS! LEVEL 69 BAMs outside arena." That would solve two problems:

1: it would help the lag tenfold.
2: It would solve the problem of exploiting the wall.

Now, I know Spacecats was trying to spawn them in the audience to serve as a punishment, but if you just move those BAMs outside the arena and then announce "Audience, no help allowed. Go fight the BAMs outside", that would stop exploiting AND decrease lag.

And it would've served as a good warmup for the other guilds and random passerbys (like me).

I think "unethical" is really stretching it way too far. It's just an event for fun and silliness. There have been tons of events over the years where, at the end, the GMs just decided to spawn a whole lot of high-level BAMs on the players as a parting gift resulting in massive death and destruction, served up for laughs. (Often people both in game and in the stream chat would goad it to happen.) I don't think you should take it all that seriously...
  • @Axidental , if it was meant as a little joke, @Spacecats and you don't know that it's not a joke. Spawning some cats that follow you annoyingly is a joke (and one I wish I could do). Spawning a bunch of BAMs and having the lag increase to the point of DC'ing while the BAMs go about killing you is a mean-spirited move. Learn the difference between a joke and bullying.

The salt in this thread has succeeded in making it a joke. Just so you know.
  • @counterpoint , spawning BAMs to kill people and then resulting lag causes many people to DC is unethical, as you are denying people the right to enjoy the game.

This kind of thing would be classified as bullying at my high school, and let's just say bullying has a huge price tag in terms of disciplinary action at my school.
  • Wasn't there. But that sounds hella fun. Having fun with a GM with a sense of fun while having no real negative repercussions sounds exactly what this game needs.

i thought it was hilarious, spectators and wall hackers beware! it's a game, and bullying? seriously? what where you specifically targeted? chased around and picked on? i think not. the event was fun, and fun for most, perhaps you need to get your undies unbunched and not take stuff so seriously. YOU chose to use a goddesses blessing, spacecats didn't make you do it. you could have rezzed in town, got some wandering healer to rez you, friends...if you have any considering your attitude, etc. you made the choice to burn the blessing. that's on you, no one else.
  • I think at this point no one is understanding what I'm even saying, so...

I think I'm going to go smash my head against a wall repeatedly...because I think no one will ever understand me...EVER!
  • NopiNopi ✭✭✭✭✭
Well, I definitely don't ever burn a blessing on a chaotic 'event' like this. Even in old nexus it was always best to wait for a healer to res you. As you could just drop back dead the very next second. And that was nexus, where mobs and bams didn't one shot as often as nightmare bosses like those I assume this GM likes to throw at people in droves.
  • A whole goddess blessing, oh the humanity!
