You shouldn't ever be thinking about soloing dungeons especially post-65. A 5 man dungeon is designed to be cleared as a 5 man, and unlike some actual p2w games like Maplestory *cough* you can't just solo hm dungeons after spending a gazillion dollars on it. Everyone starts as a beginner before, and no one will become a god at the game on day one. However much, it really isn't much effort to be decent at the game if you actually put effort in practicing. Your ping is low enough for the hardest dungeons without any questionable aids by bannable sources. All that is left is for you to find a group to start practicing with, find someone who is skilled at the class and ask for pointers (there are many on reddit, essential mana and on their respective discord groups). With enough practice you should be able to actually work towards the true endgame dungeons.
I wish you luck.
Fixed that for you.

Island of dawn and guardians don't count? They're all you're supposed to farm every day and they're boring as hell but they're there.
You basically do it alone cause you didn't start to do it together then? Well at leveling phase, do not worry about literally ANYTHING. I mean every single leveling dungeon consists of just hitting the monsters in whatever fashion you want. You'll actually need to know what to do at Lv 65. Take this time you're leveling to learn how to face the boss' back instead of front or sides, that's what you'll need the most. Yeah that and not getting hit. At leveling dungeons there are no 1 shots, but you can learn to time the hits, and like I said before, learn to keep at the back. THIS will be challenging at 1st because the tank will likely not know what he/she's doing, if there even is one (or if there are more than one). Tanks at front, DPS at back, heals at somewhere safe keeping buffs and debuffs up and everyone healed.
At 65, you should have an idea of the I-frame or the dodge/block timings, which you can get at lower levels. The mechanics then start to change, with harder hits and one shots that kill you. BUT: this is where if you're eager to learn, you can just ask the mechanics and what to know about, and you'll get answers to it from non idiotic elitists, then you learn it on practice. Also the guide route is also true and helpful, specially for the highest end dungeons where you'll not be able to solo at all some group mechanics (are there any this patch?), and there's a huge difference in perspectives from being the one with the aggro to being a DPS at back. Some of them may be too complex to just tell, so a video run through is helpful too.
Don't be afraid of starting to run stuff in groups just because you may suck. The ones around you that say they're pros will LIKELY suck. Possibly more than you as a 1st timer. Not kidding, big egos are sometimes the worst players. Even when leveling some players will be terrible and just shift blame to anyone. They're in every game and can be just ignored. Obviously, do NOT become the one that ignores people trying to teach you stuff, ignore the ones that are not productive, keep in mind some people may be less polite when telling useful information, specially DURING battle (everyone is heated up on the combat).
Eh, I guess I was thinking more about the entirety of the game and not just end-game, lol.

Well 98% of the game is endgame, even more since leveling takes like 3 days tops while getting endgame gear may as well take 3-4 months if that's your end goal.
Leveling wise, if you choose it, you can get to 65 while doing open world content only. If you wish you could level up only doing quests and grinding bams for vanguards.
As for the second class...
The struggle with dps classes is that you need to attack from the back to do a reasonable amount of damage, and if you are solo the bosses continue turning around to face you. The most mobile classes for dealing with this are sorcerer and ninja, which also happen to be the weakest classes right now, so I would not recommend those.
I would say valk or warrior for solo dps, warrior being stronger but valk being significantly easier. Not quite as mobile as the aforementioned classes but much more effective at dealing dmg. Also very soon warrior will be buffed while valk will not, another point in its favor. (brawler will be buffed too)
Mystic is actually not too terrible as a dps outside of dungeons you just need to choose dps crystals. I can do all of island of dawn easily on my mystic in just FM, the mid-tier gear. If you strictly want to avoid dungeons at 65 I would choose mystic and brawler, they will give you the best solo farming. Mystic is especially good at legion.
If you want to to dungeons with groups which I would recommend it being a mmo, find a guild who train people, read class / dungeon guides, and try to have fun. It's okay to be learning everyone has to. In this case, I would recommend having a dps class so that you can learn with minimal impact on others if you are a bit slower since there are multiple dps and only one tank and usually one healer.
As for soloing for fear of ruining the day for others? This is an MMO. Eventually, if you want to progress, you will need to party up. I'm in the same boat as you. I hate failing others. So the choice is to keep going solo and miss more than half of the game, or toss your fears away and join parties. Would be good if you found a friendly guild. Those would ease up progress a fair bit.
cute elin who cant play
Back in the day, the two items you mention had yellow quests that gave extra XP when turned in (I forget where). In those days you needed all the XP you could scrounge to decrease the grind from level to level.
I don't know if those quests are even still in the game, or just the flavor text. Does anyone know more?
