Gems Keep or Sell?

I wanted to get some other opinions on this. I read up on the gear revamp update that the PC version got, and I know that gems are used in upgrading/enchanting gear, at least emeralds and diamonds.

Now what I wanted to get everyones opinions about is whether to keep gems or sell them, especially emeralds and diamonds, since we got diamonds with the leveling event going on. I imagine the gear revamp probably won't be happening for a few more months still, so I wonder if we should even be thinking about it right now, or if we should just consider gems as gold.

What do you guys think?

  • Hmmmm...didn´t know that on PC they are used for crafting/entchanting.

I sold mine cause that Gold comes in handy at the moment to get T10 stuff up to +12/+15

Yeah I can imagine enchanting Guile gear is gonna be a gold sink, I'm still getting the pieces and feedstock I need.

Yeah though, emeralds and diamonds are used in enchanting the last two tiers of gear with the gear revamp. Unless it changes for console, I imagine it'll be the same.

I'm sitting on a little stockpile of gems right now debating on whether I should sell them or not. I'm think I'm gonna need the gold when I do start enchanting my Guile gear.
  • Just chuck them in the bank. The money you get from selling them is a drop in the ocean compared to how much you'll have from lvl 60+.
  • Well considering I have about 60k in gems, I'm sitting on a decent amount. At least to me anyway lol.

It took me 24 diamonds to upgrade my storm cry+8 twin sword to +9 on PC.
So yeah, you gonna need a lot of emeralds and diamonds on the gear revamp patch, but, idk how much time you guys on console gonna wait..
There's still vm9 patch (vshm) before gear revamp.
If we're talking about almost a year of waiting time, then maybe you should just sell everything now..

Edit: There's more ways to convert and farm gem on the current pc patch (i.e: Guardian legion)

Yeah I figured it was a ways off probably, so I'll probably just sell when I need the gold. I'm sure there will be more ways to get them when the patch does come, like you said.

    Thanks for the input :)
  • I'm thinking of selling the less valuable gems like pearls, rubys and sapphires to get gold and keep the rarest as emeralds and diamonds for when they are necessary to enchant.
  • On PC, I kept all my gems (except Pearls) well before the gear revamp was announced for K-TERA. If I just vendored the rubies now, that would be around six figures worth in gold. If I had known about the Guardian Legion content beforehand, I would've only just saved the Emeralds and Diamonds (I probably would have used some of the gold for stuff like cosmetics back before the Arsenal update).

My opinion: I'll save them until I need some quick gold, really no-one actually knows when we're getting the content update to use those gems can be 6 months to 1 year who knows. I'm not sure if I'll be in this game for so long (still pretty hooked though) but for real, why save something for simple speculation, not that 4 diamonds will make much difference based on @Dvsv comment.

You are going to need tons of emeralds and diamonds.

Both designs cost 10k emeralds 100k diamonds
So you need 110 k just for craft.
Then you need rubbies to be crafted in to shappires and the shap to craft emeralds.

So better save all of them
