Uh, you're right, but Its not Belgium, Its holland.
There is only 1 Battle Thrush for sell in the TR broker. This is why a fail cap must be applied to all loot boxes. Right now, is just Casino simulator.
Well, and, as the first comment says in the post, people didn't read it properly. It only applies if the items can be sold outside the game, and therefore have real-world monetary value. That wouldn't apply to TERA, just like it wouldn't apply to BDO (the subreddit where that article exists).
We're not going to just wake up some day and some court is going to say "all lootboxes are illegal" and all the game companies will just switch everything to direct-sale and everyone's happy. Instead you'll get regulation about specific kinds of prohibited scenarios, and most game companies will just adapt. I continue to push for failure caps and posted odds, because I think those should be the bare minimum standard as a first step.
The amount you'd have to spend to have enough data to mine would be pretty staggering. I suppose if everyone were to pool together and report their pulls, you might be able to start making some assumptions, but you'd need to open thousands to have enough data. Of course most individual people will stop either a) when they win, or b) when they cross some threshold to decide it's not worth continuing. That's why you need mass data.
My general guess is that the odds the for the chaser item in most lootboxes is around 3%, but in boxes like these that have a "good" prize and a "best " prize... yeah, wouldn't surprise me if the best was 1%.
