A discussion about Server Merges continued
TR and MT population are very healthy and actually doing great recently. Can we merge FF - AV - and possibly even CH into one server? If not, maybe FF+AV? I think it would bring players more happiness in those servers!

But honestly, they should just introduce cross server lfg to please everyone. Merging dead servers won't solve much, usually it just creates another dead server.
can we not have a server merge as its not the wish of all in these servers , whilst there are also other options for the ones that want to leave !
last time we had a sever merge creating FF it didn't improve anything and it wont fix your problem this time either
but angel is too angel
Yeah it's weird it's almost like people are passionate about this or something.
The only good argument I've heard against merging servers is that EME's servers already run like [filtered], so packing everyone into 2 or 3 servers would compound the issue. But you know what? The game already runs like [filtered]. If it's gonna run like [filtered] no matter what, then I might as well have people to play with. Every other argument against it was "muh IGN, muh safe space to be alone in an mmo, muh character slots" meanwhile gameforge merges servers just fine. Maybe go see how they accomplished this herculean task if logistics are truly the issue here.
If they're not going to merge the worlds, they could offer players stranded in dead worlds a free ticket out. Or they could offer players in full worlds a free ticket IN to dead worlds. This is a solution that doesn't scream "I'm going to use this game's dead state to squeeze my remaining loyal players dry a little more."
The reason these solutions never work is because tera sucks at retaining players and people dip to MT and TR the second they get a chance. If the worlds were truly consolidated down to 2 or 3, and maybe a preventative measure were put in place on the third world preventing people from leaving to the other 2 more popular areas, then this wouldn't be an issue. I wonder why there hasn't been a lock on MT and TR yet. Hm. Really makes you think.
Heck, just go play a single player RPG then, i'm pretty sure you guys can create the best and most unique name ever!1!!
Btw, as an ex AV player that moved to TR, i'm all for merging everything on 3 big servers max.
I really wonder if that's true.
Maybe it's all just "virtual servers" that shares the same hardware (real server), so 2 small or one big server is the same thing lag wise..
Fact is, server mergers are usually seen as bad signs by those around the industry, and more by the media. Internet magazines run the news, and soon behind them is the whole "game is dying" remarks. And that's bad publicity, so most usually, devs and publishers try to avoid server merges and the bad press they bring for the most part.
BHS has said they are working on cross-server LFG. So that's being addressed.
If people were managing to coordinate cross server FWC when PVP was dead then I'm sure some of you people on dead servers can manage to orchestrate a server discord for people that want to run RMH/RKE/HH. I think it's less that your server is dead, and more so that your server's players are just bad.
Is anyone really agreeing with this, this dude is the new Lesbian.Vi. You are not from a dead server, why are you responding here? BHS isn't working on cross server LFG, because Korea has a healthy LFG (from what I saw ATLEAST 1 whole page of LFG). They don't address big changes if it doesn't involve Korea.
Honestly, it doesn't matter if we bring anything up at this moment. We all have shown our concern against BHS balancing around talents and we know how that went. Most companies want your money, they don't care about certain problems in the game (even if they're fairly big). There are plenty of things to name that should have been fixed ages ago.
I have 40 alts over lvl 40 over the 5 servers my self (the least played ones are on the a[aren't popular servers) almost a third are at 65 and half of them are in atlreast frost
to get them on to one server (as you people don't want to pay for TF's) whos going to pay for my additional character slots and reimburse for the ones ive paid for and will loose let alone the other stuff ill loose on the alts I will loose
or like others you can go make a new alt as well and see what these servers are like
as for certain servers being dead , I offer regularly my buddy up codes and the ones less likely to return any box above the lvl 30/40 box's are TR and MT and the server that uses the codes the fastest and more often to lvl65 is FF
and whilst playing in the popular servers OW is just as dead as any other but they do seem more toxic a group in LFG runs
I wonder if MT and TR are really as populated as suggested or just managing to coordinate LFG's runs better , really makes me think
yer I heard GF merged and closed a server but I also heard it was after they had opened three new servers then scaled back to two of them
Nah the servers definitely have some very specifics about their hardware or AT LEAST power allocation that makes them crap themselves whenever a higher task is thrown at, but they do it in very specific zones. Say AV's open world, dungeon X`s server/thread/processor, dungeon Y's, Iron, Kumas Royale and so on. It's happened many times already that specific servers go down, specific content gets slow when it's popular, and some other unrelated content craps itself as well when load hits another zone. Conclusion: they're definitely tied to a way or another on the power distribution of the servers. Obviously no server nowadays is a single machine with one single core CPU, but regardless, they still perform as they do and crap themselves up as they do, so I wonder how they would handle the clumping up of the loads.
Whoever it's understandable that the servers can only get as bad as their population manages: if the servers merged hit exactly MT/TR's population, they should perform similarly on similar situations.
TL;DR of this paragraph: the concern about servers getting screwed up is entirely valid, but may not be a limiting factor.
Another thing, YES, I WANT TO KEEP MY NAMES AND SLOTS. Call it whatever you want, if you want me to just go on a deleting spree to get into a GENEROUS 6 slots then I'll probably do it and then not play again cause it will [filtered] me. People are like this, call me selfish all you want, I'm not alone on this. If they give me the slot count I have on the servers (so that would sum up maximum count), then less issues. If one or another anime name can't be kept for whatever reason then eh... sad, but if you sum up those two issues it becomes more and more annoying for everyone.
Most importantly why they don't do it: reputation.
I recall Counterpoint (or who was it) talking about how merging servers passes a strong sense of "the game is dying" to the playerbase or possible new players.
More than the characters I would worry about bank tabs, pet bank tabs, wardrobe tabs, inventory slots and all the stuff in them.
