ever been through a server merge? no? didn't think so, here's the deal idiot, if you have characters on the servers that are being merged you CAN'T go over your limit...next time as i said earlier quit making [filtered] up or how you GUESS things are done. i've been through server merges including the very first one when it was still pay to play.
how about you move your characters or start new ones on what you think are "populated" servers instead of trying to get eme and everyone else to be screwed up or inconvenienced by what you want.
If you have two characters in total in all the servers being merged, they won't be deleted and at most, you may be forced into a name change. But if you have many characters spread between those very servers being merged, you will be sent a notification about having to delete characters before even going into the in game portion. So you won't even be able to see what those characters have if you haven't already chosen and prepared them beforehand. Thing is, many people seem to have more than 20 characters (I personally have around 25 or so). There's also the other resources like wardrobe slots, bank slots and all those things. Any excess will be lost and usually not fully refunded.
People can keep their characters and we can transfer the server and both sides will be happy.
First, I don't think transferring characters between accounts is even possible. But even if it were possible, second, that doesn't fix things like Elite status, account item claim entitlements, TERA Rewards Level, and so on. The characters on the second (overflow) account will be worse off.
My compromise approach would be to just make it so that, if you do exceed the limit, it just doesn't care and lets it stay that way without requiring you to delete anything. It's still not ideal because you'll never be able to create any more characters if they create new classes (etc.) but at least nothing is lost. (Or otherwise, I guess they can just increase the max number of characters to some large amount like 99 or something.) This solution, though, doesn't address the issue of the bank overflow.
The issue you mentioned is not even worth fixing because that would create unfair advantage for people that didn't have characters on on both servers if they increase the character slots only for them. Atleast people can keep their characters instead of having them deleted.
As far as I'm concerned, increase the max for everyone. In the end, it's not more characters than the people had originally across two servers, they'd just all be consolidated into one place (along with everyone and everything else). How much more of an unfair advantage would it really be? But anyway, as I said, I'm fine with just setting it to 99 or something assuming they get the servers to a level where they won't merge further.
But that aside, like I said, I don't think they have the ability to move people to another account even if they want to right now, so that'd have to be the first step if they were pursuing your proposal.
MT/FF
TR/AV
CH .. on it's own or with the PvE servers
I'm still all in favor of ONE server.
Merge all and be done with it before the population dwindles further.
merging servers doesn't magically create more or new players.
the best compromise would be making lfg cross servers, then no one loses any names, items, or gold.
the player base will continue to dwindle due to people getting bored and looking for the new flavor of the month game.
if bhs would have been able to have the console players playing on pc servers, then that would have helped a lot. also many console players are already quitting tera like it is. I personally know quiet a few from school.
its easy to get people to play a free to play game, its a different thing to keep them playing.
When you play an MMO, you expect the world to have a presence. Tera lacks any sort of presence open world and in cities.
A complete merge would solve that.
People cycling out of the game is natural. No game can prevent it (without crossing the line and entering super-villainy.) I think you should aim for "stable" or "slightly growing" population, stats which only EME/Bluhole have, and chuck the unrealistic expectations that everyone entering tera should continue to the end game (that's just not how video game appreciation in any genre works at any point in history.) How to do that is "keep making the game good and promote it accordingly, topics a bit beyond the scope of a server merger thread.
Anyway, if there is a problem with subdivided populations and the potential for the game to work with one server: I say go for it provided that all the costs and compromises are non-apocalyptic (ie. don't result in losing characters, perks, progress, and other earnings). There are plenty of MMO's that don't need to split servers to handle the scale of their populations and one big pool certainly doesn't bring the end times to their respective economic and gameplay systems. The transition seems to be the hard part (again assuming this is on the table in any way) and, as someone who plays on AV, I don't think there's a whole lot to gain except greater marketplace activity. The big potential issue, dungeon matchmaking, is already cross-server.
How and why will a merge do this when i already have alts on that server which i already spend time on gets a few of all my alts from another server added to them whilst the rest get deleted coz i have more than the cap amount
It won't encourage me to play more , rather it will p!s's me and discourage me to play due to what I'm forced to loose and even more so if i have alts on all servers and have stopped playing on the one id be merge with if i had grown to dislike that server prier to the merge , meeting me back to it wins suddenly magically improve what ever reason i left
If you feel meeting will magicly stop people from leaving any of the servers as well your wrong for sa long as we have more than one server there is always going to be some one that believes that the other server be better and move
And if there's no voice to move you'll have players that will leave and enough are doing that now
I see from your previous post you want a merge at any expense to the players if affects , but not when said player base that don't want the merge might get something out of it that you may not
