Exploring

I've just started playing Tera and I'm having a lot of fun on the PVE server. My only issue with the game is that I'm an ESO player and exploring the wilderness is one of my favorite pass times. On Tera I'm really getting tired of running into invisible walls and using the teleportals are cool but I wish I could just ride my horse to my destinations. Will Tera ever allow us to do that or are we restricted to the particular zones we travel too?

You should be able to ride your mount everywhere that's not separated by ocean or mountain.

I know southern Arun(?) I was able to ride my horse all over the place to different zones and within those zones.
  • It’s possible to run all over the map with just your mount. There are actually feats and rewards you get for exploring. They give you a free raptor mount for literally running to a bunch of places on the map. Search: Tera sparky free raptor mount (or something along those lines) and a tutorial should pop up in the first few hits. Should be a bonus for your love of exploring! (Also, when you’re at the level to not die by mobs, check out Scythera Fae, it’s my favorite area of the map so far!)
  • Yes, there are some hidden spots and they encourage you to climb/jump up on mountains by placing NPCs there hinting at certain spots.
Aside from those spots, in some areas there are nice little places you won't find through quests. So although it's not as rich as ESO, exploration is worth it in Tera.
Oh, and there are even some unfinished maps you're not supposed to see, but can be found through finding areas on mountains where the devs forgot to put invisible walls :D

But remember to always take a teleport scroll to a specific location with you as you can get stuck sometimes and if there's no safe place to return nearby, only those scrolls or queueing for a dungeon can get you out.
