The quest is kinda tedious and takes like 30-40 min to do but it certainly isn't hard. If you think this quest is too hard, you don't know how to play the game.

And...to be honest...it's "Apex" skills. Apex means top/high point. It's not meant to be a gimme. You have to earn it. Getting to ilvl439 is already easy so I'm glad they made it so people can't just faceroll through the quest as easily. I actually would have enjoyed it more if it were more difficult but less tedious. Just smashing the same old dragons over and over waiting for an npc to talk got boring pretty quick.

A few players would agree that Apex should have been something exclusive to "the few, the proud" (aka: elitists), though I agree that if the devs really wanted it to be earned, they could have tossed it inside a 5 man 5 star dungeon. Not everyone plays in those.

  • This quest was harder than expected. I was like the other guy here and didn't even bring enough pots. Ended up having to bring some because some lag or mistake or two and your almost dead.

Was able to do it though with my berserker. I would suggest staying it normal mode on final boss, going in apex beast mode will just drain your health and doesn't add much dps, better to play it safe and keep your hp high. Just spam the crazy OP cyclone reset thing and it drops pretty fast... and use frontal crit multiplier crystal so u dont have to waste time trying to go behind the thing and just crush it fast and spam pots liberally whenever you are low on hp and also use tenacity to also help heal.

So just bring all the heal items you can and alternate them as needed to stay full hp and fresh. Try to do mission when your internet isn't laggy either, i died a few times from lag. Once at the start of mission and 2-3 times on final boss from lag spikes and once because i didn't pot enough.

Problem with the quest is there needs to be more checkpoints, die once and you go back pretty far at the start of it. Also its boring as hell. Gotta do it on my mystic at some point but gonna be so boring i may kill myself irl. My crap slayer needs more iLVL to do it, i think im 435. Wish it would just let me do it cause i probably could pull it off at 435.
  • I don't quite get what the issue is. If you have dps crystals, dps glyphs, proper set up utilizing those glyphs with your skills, buffs, and some potions there shouldn't be an issue. I didn't die once and the only thing remotely challenging was the blue dracoloths solely because they hit harder than I thought.

Take the time to learn your class and bring potions with you not just for this but wherever you go. This is just so basic as a player. Completely ridiculous

Why would you want to put in that much work? With the cooldown reduction on apex skills during that fight, you can have almost 100% uptime on unleashed. Use unbreakable right before unleashed runs out and immediately go into unleashed again. Pretty much the only way he can kill you is if he gets off a crit on a big attack. If your worried, glyph cd reduction on unbreakable and 12% heal on triumphant shout for a quick heal when unleahsed runs out. At ilv439, it took me 4 unleashed to kill him.

This is true. As it stands it's really not hard to earn the skills because the quest is fairly easy.
It seems less like a prize than just a skill gate test to make sure people aren't super bad at the game before giving them the better skills.
  • I just did it yesterday on my frostmetal +0 berserker. I had already heard that it was a long quest and obviously it wasn't going to be too easy.

    What I did:
~15 50% health potions, and 2 75% rejuvenation potions (dagger chick and final boss scared me, lol)
    *friendly feasts (buff)
    *canephora potions (buff)
*use a mana/health restore mount to get back to 100% during downtime (seriously if you're not a healer I think this is a MUST!)
*wait for damage cooldowns (fiery rage, bloodlust, brooch) to kill boss dragons before they start flying around or digging.
*be patient because if you die in one of the world story areas you have to start over that area.

I actually liked the quest, the story, and the challenge. My only issue was having the cut scenes crash my game... had to watch them on a youtube video and piece together what happened. My computer is quite good so I wasn't too sure what the problem was.

I thought it was just a few skills and a new glyph too... until the end when they give you 5 EXTRA GLYPH POINTS?!!?!?

    RIP other classes.
  • HaloistHaloist ✭✭✭
@Campaigner Well you're more than likely to spend most, if not all, of those 5 extra glyph points on your single new glyph anyway so it's not really something that kills the other classes. What really kills is the damage disparity anyway.

Apex is supposed to leave the regular version of the class way behind in the dust, after all, which is why it will eventually be enabled for all classes in the end (including Ninja, so haters can keep hating lel). But 5 glyph points is not really a world of difference. More if you don't have all of the needed glyphs at their more economic versions.
  • Where I can find this quest?
I just need to hit ilvl 439?
