Yep, and keep buying and buying elite or emp to get gold ingame, to be ever enchanting your stupid new gear.
Gearing up one set and moving them from alt to alt would be silly. Plus, the current system ensures that you've played the alt enough to deserve to play the higher dungeons etc. Being able to simply transfer the gear around would ruin that.
MMOs target audience (esp. grindy Asian ones) isn't exactly Friday-Sunday players.
Hmm well, a recent release dungeon-crawler game called Soulworker, allows transfer of everything short of weapons, which are class specific for obvious reasons, and costumes between characters.
There's a few other games I've played over the years that allow some amount of gear sharing between characters to varying degree's, Tera is probably one of the more restrictive in terms of gear sharing. However there's always the concern that more gear sharing means players can burn out faster since there's less need to gear out an alt if one character already has the gear, thus less incentive to run endgame content.
On the other hand however, it can increase player retention when there's enough class variance that players will play different classes if they don't have a need to re-grind all the things they did on their other characters.
Really it ends up being what type of player you're looking to keep around. Given Tera's style of keeping almost everything on your character, and not so much on your account, it makes sense with the loot box style system that generally means investing a lot into a single character. If you make an alt and gear it up, it's a decent investment so it makes for incentive to spend money on that character too.
And considering the current Tera is a bit less alt friendly than before, it may cater more to people with less or no alts.
Everquest on the Firiona Vie server. Even raid drops can be traded. It's also by far the most populated of the servers. Full open market has its merits when done properly.
...gear doesn't drop in dungeons anymore. I haven't "rolled" on gear in months. Are you perhaps in the wrong forum? Or are talking about leveling gear? Except isn't most leveling gear bind on equip not pickup? Hence bankable?
It's been so long since I did anything but gear through the token system I can't recall what drops anymore. @Xandervb are you perhaps a console player? If so, GOOD NEWS. BHS changed this completely and eventually you will upgrade a single set of gear instead of hoping to get lucky on dungeon drops.
If not, then I apologize but I am not sure what you are referencing.
This has to be one of the worst suggestions I have ever seen. It is so incredibly easy to level and even get good gear to do 95% of all the content without having to no life it. This is coming from someone that has a full-time job and still finds time to keep all my characters decently geared for the content i want to do. They won't ever do this.
Dungeons have a chance to drop Twisthard, Frostmetal and Stormcry gear boxes. However the chance is really low.
Not sure if it's a good move or not from BHS, sure for min-maxers could be as they always start with gear that allows them to farm top dungeons, however for those who used to max enchant their low tier gear (Guile) it was not so nice, because with Guile +12, Bane accesories, Superior inner, brooch and circlet you were able to run even 5 star dungeon. However this new gear system raised item level requirements for more than used to be in the past, making it in a way that you would start from 2 star dungeons if you had previous low tier gear while before you could run even 4 star dungeons with previous low tier gear. Now your previous low tier gear even with max gear enchant, even with the best accesories and best inner from last patch are worth only 2 star dungeons.
I thought of that, but those boxes are bankable and also are smart boxes--doesn't make sense that they could be talking about those...
Still mystified. Oh well. I can live with it.
Not was my intention to deny your argument, just to clarify those drops with extremely low chances and are not a garantued way to get what you need. I have seen so few that feels like they are non-existant even previous VM boxes were more abundant than Twisthard gear boxes.
