Which Healer?
Hey I'm a new player looking to heal and I've read a lot about Priests vs Mystics. The most concerning thing would be that priests will be kicked out of parties because they're not mystics. Is this true? Just based on the two classes, I would tend to prefer priest because it seems more dedicated to healing and survivability but if they get kicked out of parties in favor of mystics.. well that doesn't sound fun.

Their healing capabilities are about the same and honestly after awakening I feel like mystics are much easier to play then priests. If you want to learn by playing an easier healer I'll recommend mystic tbh. Priests after awakening have so many things to do and their buffs are harder to maneuver compared to mystic's thrall and chill lol
But yeah, the problem is old and it'll always be there. Priest might be on top again in the future tho.
You live in a prettier world than reality. I guess it doesn't run Unreal Engine 3 to be so pretty, or at least not done by BHS' hands.
Ya, been there, seen it, declined the kick.
OP: Yeah it's kinda old talk now, it did get better it seems, it used to be quite stupid a couple months ago tho, literally sitting waiting for ages for an LFG to change their status from "need mystic" to "need healer". But yes, now it changed for the better and they're more equal, without worries about Priest getting trash.
Dare I say, it's more likely they re-balance it in favor of Priest yet again, but that's a wild guess. To be honest tho, at 1st nobody even know what is a good performing player, you'll get better at the role itself of healing (like, you'll learn that even Priest has a high focus on keeping party's DPS up), and when you're good at the task itself, and at your current choice of healer (seems you're inclined to Priest, one more for the team!), then you can try out Mystic as well, but I gotta say they're both equal on difficulty. Being REAL GOOD at either is about as hard, getting the basics is pretty much same difficulty as well.
TL;DR: Both are way more balanced now. Your performance will depend way more on you learning the task and class than class potential only.
Let's point out some obvious points -- crit aura, and majority of the classes benefits from crit, this will make mystics forever above priests until the day priest can provide consistent crit factor as well.
Besides that, after the awakening patch priest parties will never be able to slay, and if you look at coughmoon*****cough top parties they all slay, for dungeons like RKEM there is no reason not to because you have to dodge all the attacks to begin with anyways.
Another thing, mystics and pump out a lot of damage, and I mean a lot. Soloing bombs at Ventarun, shortening fight duration, all of these again puts mystic over priest.
Kelsiaks Nest when Kelsiak had a huge crit resist stat and mystics could only cleanse like 2 other people.
The last boss of MC had a huge crit resist shield, whereby if people were not super geared then they would not break the shield with a mystic in the party.
And I am always scared that once again they will put another boss in the game that makes mystics useless.
Just play whatever class you want. Play priest if that's what you think you will enjoy. No big deal. But pvping is so much better on priest than mystic in BGs and CU because of mass cleanse and the sheer amount of healing skills.
None of that is relevant right now because again, that was years ago, this is right now.
