Name Release Event Request
Since it's springtime and most people are doing their home based spring cleanings I thought TERA could use a little spring cleaning too! Can you please wipe all those guilds who have people with PlayerName_1 as their guild master. People who haven't been online in years shouldn't get to keep their guild names, the current active player base should be allowed to have it.
Could there also be another name wipe? Instead of just people who hold names on level one extra accounts and don't log into them for years. <.<

There had been 2 name wipes so far. Is just that the 2nd one didn't had that much air time as the first one because name hoarders were the very first people to log in and grabbed as many names they could before someone who seriously was gonna use it, could cake it.
Maybe the simplest solution is to not make every single released name available at the same time and have them randomly released over the course of a year.
Am yet to come up with the Golden Strategy to prevent people holding onto huge numbers of short and sweet names on lv1 characters.
Inviting Feedback
What I'm thinking is restricting short and sweet names to established accounts only and limiting the number of short and sweet names you can have on characters below lv65. You may have as many as you like on lv65 characters.
Short and Sweet names (guideline only)
- no dot separation character (easy to implement)
- 7 characters or less (easy to implement)
- Only uses regular phonetic subgroups (harder to implement) "Ftfrgmt" is clearly not short and sweet.
- common English name, word or popular culture reference (very hard to implement this)
Established Accounts (guideline only, perhaps 1 or 2 of the following)
- at least 1 lv60+ character (maybe higher or lower)
- any purchase through EME
- any Tera purchase through Steam
- rewards tier 2 (maybe higher)
- founder status
- elite status
this is to prevent someone using huge numbers of alt accounts to hoard names
yeah, I do the same.
what is needed is the ability to swap names between characters on your main account without fear of having someone steal your name.
I suggested this before, others have suggested that if you make a name available (by deleting or name changing) the name may only be used by your accounts for a short period before being released into the wild (for example 7 days)
This is mostly about Guild names, not player names.
but the op did mention player names as well.
We need another name wipe honestly.
