New, Improved FPS! But.. more crashes/driver failures?
I'm having an annoying problem. A bit of background first..
For the past year or so, my laptop has been filled with dust and not cleaned out. Temps easily much higher than they are now, with the fan pretty much always on high. My FPS was atrocious, in the realm of 7-15fps or so, a LITTLE better if I had the 'low performance dimming' ticked in the "Video" settings of TERA.
So a week or so ago, I got my computer cleaned. All the dust, or at least the vast majority. It now runs MUCH more smoothly, and I'm amazed the graphics card still functions so well. I get around 15-24ish fps in busy velika, and easily around 20-30fps most of the time, save for combat, which is still very playable with lower frames. I've even seen 48-61 fps in empty places.
BUT the new problem.. is now my graphics driver crashes. A lot. My screen will freeze black for a second, then come back up, saying 'Nvidia driver 368.22 stopped responding and has successfully recovered'. And I'm having lots of problems that seem to be reminiscent of Overclocking.. but I've looked at Nvidiainspector, MSI afterburner, etc and I'm using the default clocks of 753MHZ GPU core clock, 1570MHZ Memory clock and 1505MHZ Shader.. Not OCing at all.
Last night I even got a driver crash followed by everything in velika being VERY dark, couldn't see characters, the world was black and very glitchy looking but still functioned. I could still play, FPS was still okay (for velika) , etc. I chatted for aw hile with a friend in whispers during it, wondering what the hell was happening. A restart of TERA fixed it.
Sometimes, the screen will just freeze, and my cursor will start doing the 'loading'.. spinning while TERA says 'not responding', and it will usually fix itself after a minute. During this time, GPU usage drops to zero and temps go down too. It does not say that the graphics driver crashed when this happens, even though I think it's pretty much the same thing. I should mention usually I'm NOT running too hot, for a few days during the 90+ weather we've had here it has been 80-82Cish, which isn't TOO bad I think.. but now that it cooled down its around.. 69-75C, which I'm pretty sure is fine for my laptop's GT55M GPU (I know it's old, but it still apparently works).
It just got frustrating enough, because I died in Ghillieglade while TERA stopped responding and I lost a carving Niveot.. I'll also note that I have yet to 'freeze' in an endgame dungeon besides ghillieglade, although it does happen in towns sometimes as well. I do, however still get the quick 'driver crashes' in Velika, IoD, rarely dungeons, HW, etc. without I thought I'd make a post here to see if anyone can diagnose the problem because I don't feel like going to laptop tech forums.. they can get too complex for me.
Can anyone help? Please?...
EDIT: It literally just stopped responding AGAIN in Ghillieglade.. I wasn't even in combat, just jumping down the rocks to go to the bridge.. Sigh. I am pretty sure it stops responding the most in Ghillieglade.
Amendment: Then, right after it fixed itself a minute later, I cleared Ghillie with no problems.. around 20ish FPS.

I love this game so much, but if I cant even play for 10 minutes at a time without having to end the Tera.exe task and re-starting just to freeze again in 10 minutes or so, I don't see why I would want to continue paying for Elite status. As it is I've lost at least 5 days of play time on my elite status because I get so frustrated!!!
Please PLEASE PLEASE direct me to either solve this issue, or release a new patch with a fix! I don't want to quit playing the game, but the frustrations are too annoying to bother restarting the game so often. If it was only a once in a great while problem I could deal with it, but as of now, its almost completely unplayable since last patch.
Note: I didn't have ONE single problem with the game before last tuesdays patch!!
OR, you installed a piece of software that runs when the PC starts and you forgot about it....Or the AV update, or the system update... Could be so many things after doing several changes at once in a computer. That's why it's usually recommended to do one thing, test thoroughfully, then another and so on. This last bit may not apply for your specific case but I wanted to say it just in case.
There are few solution:
1 - Update your driver, and everything related. For dual-graphic laptop, please update Intel HD Graphics driver including nVidia or AMD driver.
2 - Update your Windows.
3 - Clean install your graphic driver, use DDU (Display Drive Uninstaller). Please download first the necessary display driver before proceeding. There are guide how to use it.
4 - Last resort, format your pc, I mean, clean install your Windows.
