I would expect the servers to be the same or a transfer feature.

Regardless, its a premature conversation to have.
  • Well, I just downloaded the console version, and it definitely feels a bit more optimized for gamepad play. I don't know why the console version has such a better UI for playing with a pad than the PC version...also, I noticed the game has AoE indicators FFXIV style on console...that is absent on PC?

Like...why? Is there a setting to turn that on for PC? Because that's a pretty big, and extremely helpful feature that seems really odd to give only to one platform...I know I said I would likely stick to PC but...this seems like something worth sticking to console for...

It’s not all that helpful and I wouldn’t trust it because:

It’s deceptive. Your hitbox is probably bigger than your character unless you’re say, a baraka or male aman.

Even if you stand right in the freaking middle in the safe zone, you can still be hit because I suspect it has a tendency to desync. I’ve been killed multiple times to relying on it. don’t rely on it, it’s a bad habit. Not really an avoidable habit either.

I wish it wasn’t in the game along with the post 65 sorc shield Warp Barrier - this is an extremely cheesy skill that basically makes you invulnerable to most attacks for a full (glyphed) 2 seconds and similarly should not be relied upon because it seems to suffer from bad ping more than the other dodges. I’ve taken to only using that when my other skills are on CD. But boy is it tempting as hell to rely on it.
  • The AoE indicator depends on mode, Lilith Hard and Ruinous Hard (presumably) do not have them. Not sure about the others. Also I read that pc has an option to turn them off on the easy modes? Not sure, didn't play it much.

No it doesn't. When ps4 dropped dcuo ported directly to it and you picked up exactly where you were on ps3. If the idiots at daybreak can pull it off, can't be that difficult

Just because the PS5 comes out doesn't mean the PS4 servers will be shut off. So the game can go on for a lot longer. Dcuo Just dropped PS3 support at the beginning of this year and the PS4 Had been out since 2011.

I still don't like how that sounds lol. Game accounts should be forever.

Still after some thought, I think Tera has a better chance if it even stays above water given that it doesn't deal with licensing with big trademarks like DC. Also PS4 sold a lot but I don't think PS5 will be sold as much if they release it too soon. PS4 was a good deal and I bet a lot of people bought it thinking they will use it for 5-10 years. I don't see how PS5 would even be that appealing to the masses given that the improvements will be so minimal. Even PS3/360>PS4/One was probably the smallest leap from generation to generation thus far. Half or more of the games on current gen can or does play on previous gen with very little difference. Yea there's a few games that push the hardware to the max but I don't even like playing those games because it makes the fan too loud and they usually have weird bugs/choppiness/clipping etc. due to trying to push it too much.
  • These new consoles are pretty much unmodable PCs as far as architecture is concerned so porting games over to the next gen should be no problem.

Not sure if Tera will last another 5 years on any system tho. ^^ It is a fun game but its also quite antiquated in both graphics and a fair number of design elements and there is a lot of good modern stuff coming out in the next few years.

When it comes to MMOs you really have to think more about whether or not you want to play them a lot in the short term since a good chunk of them wont last more than 5 or so years and even if they do you will probably have moved on in a year or two anyway.
  • If they close down servers on consoles first I hope they will at least let us transfer chars to PC servers in the unlikely event I'm still even interested in playing whenever that happens. ^^
  • Dont worry about xbox 2 it wont happend

Not long if they keep up the way they are going now, the customer care is terrible, the game is terrible as far as its major issues that have still not been fixed and probably never will be is concerned. From what ive seen out of enmasse/bluehole so far is bluehole sitting on their chairs spinning around all day on them while enmasse keeps throwing in more lootboxes and store items for cashgrabs. I was going to buy a mount and some things but luckily i held off long enough to realize its not worth it and took that money and added days to my ffxiv sub instead, Now im having a blast getting ready for the next major content update in xiv coming in a couple weeks. I can't wait to try out heaven on high and the new trial/24man raid/dungeon/beast tribe/hildbrand/side story/story/new eureka pagos coming in 3.35 as well, and i thank enmasse/bluehole for making it very clear that my money was better spent on more sub time for that new ffxiv content. Blueholes priorities as far as fixing the issues with their game is just too batcrap backwards for me to ever consider investing in their game as a customer.
  • The seem to be trying to get as much cash as possible as soon as possible without making the game up to the level it should be. I would say late 2019 at the latest.

Loot boxes helped me get rare alk and spellbinds and semi scrolls all that were needed plus my hp mp mounts whilst doing so. But I do suggest if you need mass amounts of one kind of material to follow his opinion on an exclusive guaranteed crate
