New Couple of players
Greetings all,
So my wife decided to start playing MMo's to play with me, so I decided to start fresh in Tera. I'm an old schooler from the UO days, DAoC, WAR, etc. And she has not played a PC game in her life.
I made her an archer as it seems to be the easiest class to play, the tough decision will be for me. I've mostly enjoyed healing and taking in MMO's, not so much DPS (rare to hear that eh?), therefore my debate falls on what is the most needed at this time in the game for groups?
If tanks, would a beefier Baraka Lancer be better than an Amani Warrior?
If healer, a High Elf Mystic or Priest?
Thanks.

Here's a breakdown if it helps:
Lancer: Support Tank, it brings the most utility to the party with the strongests endurance debuff in the game as well as a shout that almost doubles base endurance and increases power by 30% for the entire party for a nice amount of time, it also comes with Adrenaline Rush which increases attack speed and reduces cooldown of all party members as well as your own. Mostly reduces damage by blocking, using wallop which has a frontal block, Shield Counter which has a 50% dmg reduction and Onslaught which also has frontal block (BAD idea to use if your ping is high or your fps too low... or both, as it causes desync far too easily which is why it HAS to be cancelled before the last 3 hits in that case making it a not so good choice) Iron will (it's a shield that absorbs a certain amount of damage) and Backstep (Iframe).
Warrior: It was labeled as Evasive Tank a while back, haven't touched tanking warrior in a long time so I'm not sure if it has changed; other than an attack speed buff for the party and an endurance debuff I think it doesn't bring any other type of support for the party, they reduce damage by blocking with cross parry, the frontal block on Torrent of Blows, iframing with Death from Above and Evasive Roll.
Brawler: Offensive Tank, brings NO support for the party other than a small endurance debuff, they however have a skill called Growing Fury that can be mantained for almost the entire battle if used properly, this skill adds a frontal block effect to every damaging skill in their kit, to make up for the lack of support abilities they do the most damage of all tank classes, has dash a an iframe.
All 3 classes also come with a skill to enrage the boss which has a base cd of 5 mins on all 3 I believe.
As for healers
Priest: has 3 AoE heals, 2 are small 1 is big, all offer different strength on their heals, 2 lock on heals 1 of which is a medium size AoE, an AoE charge skill to give MP back to the party, 2 buffs, 1 which increases endurance, power, hp regen and "resistances" (the resistances is largely irrelevant tbh) and the other is a lock on increasing power, attack speed and reducing cooldown for all party members, 1 endurance debuff (the skill has to be glyphed to have that effect) 1 shield and 1 AoE cleanse, has 1 iframe.
Mystic: has 1 Lock on heal, 1 "throwing" heal in Boomerang Pulse (restores hp AND damages enemies on it's path), 1 large AoE heal in Healing Totem (low heal per tick though), 1 lock on cleanse, 1 HoT in the shape of red motes that need to be picked up by other players (they include a cleanse effect on them too, most people won't pick them up as is a dps loss), mp recovery from blue motes, mp recovery from a large AoE (2 part skill, needs to be "charged" first as an AoE that does dmg to enemies then released by using it again providing the mp regen), 4 Auras, 1 recovers mp, 1 increases movement speed, 1 increases crit power and power and 1 increases crit resistance (only 2 can be on at a time and only 2 are useful for PvE) 1 endurance debuff from a lock on (needs to be glyphed), 1 endurance buff (the thrall needs to be glyphed for it to grant it on summon), 1 thrall that restores hp to the caster and allies in a small AoE, has 1 iframe.
All of this is from a purely PvE perspective and non awakened, I've yet to awaken any of those classes so I ignore how much they change.
Race is largely irrelevant unless you're trying to go for specific racial passives, animation speed or range on certain skills (I ignore if the last still holds true for most classes, and the second is barely noticeable for the average player) so pick whichever you're most comfortable with.
More than likely I will go Lancer.
