How To Raise Item Level to Do Thaumetal Refinery?

HI All,

So I'm level 65 and still following the red story quest I have and have hit a snag. To advance, I have to enter the Thaumetal Refinery but when I go to Instance Match it says I don't have the minimum Item Level. My Item Level is 425 and you must have 431.

I have the Guardian equipment set and everything is enchanted to max except my spellcasting disc ( I'm a sorcerer) which is at +4. I can't seem to collect enough enchanting materials from the low level dungeons to get it up higher and not sure that would make my Item Level high enough anyhow.

Have I skipped something by mistake?
How do I get my Level up?

All Replies Appreciated,
Eloquest

You need to upgrade the Weapon, the Chest armor, the Glove armor, and the Feet armor to Twistshard. (That means enchanting it to +6 and then upgrading it.) From there you have a bit of a choice what else you want to do. A personal test case for me was Belt upgraded to Twistshard and the Circlet to Belium. That has a character hit 431 with everything else still Prospect level accessories and the free inner wear from the level 65 quest.

You can upgrade other accessories to get there as well, your choice really, though you'll need to upgrade all of them to Belium for 439 anyway.

If you are having trouble collecting Wood Scraps then consider doing the Echo Arcana (Echoes of Aranea) quest, that can be repeated daily. Also don't forget that you can dismantle materials you don't need, so that you can buy the material that you do need with the Metamorphic Emblems that you get from that.

Just enchanting items generally does very little for ilvl. The weapon will increase it a bit as you enchant it, but armor only seems to go up with upgrades, as far as I have experienced so far. The selected effects on the items have a bigger impact on ilvl than how far they are enchanted. (You need all gold effects on the 3 armor and weapon items, to get the max ilvl from them. Any green ones there will reduce it.)

Thank-you so much for the info! I was able to upgrade my robe, boots, weapon and hand wraps to Twistshard What I did only increased ilvl to 429. Need more Golden Talents. Tried dismantling to get some but the Metamorphic Emblem shop doesn't sell those. The circlet and belt are not upgradeable for me, can't place them in the 'enchant slot' , they are grayed out when in inventory and I open enchant window. Do I just keep doing low level dungeons for Golden Talents? ( I did theEcho Arcana btw)
  • There are two buttons in the inventory for improving gear. The far-left enchant button is for upgrading weapons/armour from 0-9. The button right of that is the upgrade button, which is used to upgrade accessories/belts/criclets as well as weapons/armour from +9 to the next tier.

Golden talents can be obtained primarily via low-tier BAM vanguards on the IoD (Basilisks/Orisks/Ovoliths) as well as just by simply running dungeons.
Although to upgrade your accessories you'll need silver talents, which are almost exclusively a dungeon drop and significantly harder to farm for than golden talents.

Make sure you complete all the story (red) quests that are given at level 65, you don't really need to worry about 64 or below quest chains, but most of the 65 quest chains give a good amount of materials, or lead to other quests that give materials.
