Tiana makes a valid point there. So here is an idea something that I have juggled with a bit. It's not exactly a Samurai or a Ronin Warrior so to speak. However some of the things about it are very close. Thing is this. it's main stay is magical..

It's something I played around with, tinkered with when I was an active local DM. So here is the spill on that.
Note* I'll adjust certain things accordingly to what makes sense for Tera
    *************************************************************************************

Race: Popori (Originally called Kaylarian by myself)

Class: "Bladerunner" (Originally called Moon Burst Warriors by myself)

Weapon: Dagger (both melee and throwing weapon)
    Armor: Leather

Special Ability: Moon Strike Cool Down: 2 Minutes Casting Time: 2 seconds

Description of Ability: Once the power of the Moon is fully felt through out the Bladerunner, his eyes begin to shine. He raises his hands straight into the air with a shout, with his daggers pointing towards the sky. A bright beam of light shoots down from the sky upon the Popori feeling him with the fullness of his power enabling him to smite his foes where he stands. An explosion occurs around the Popori of 10 meters all around him, that does massive damage to all opponents within the area. The following affects are a side effect of this skill.

    1. Immune to all attacks and dropping aggro for 30 seconds.
    2. Increases Movement speed for 30 seconds.
    3. Briefly Paralyzes the opponent.
*Effects may increase or be added through gear rolls.
*Has a high chance to crit.

    The following are class skills.

    Level Skill Description
1 Combo Attack Strike one or more targets in front of you, and gain Moon Force and MP(and do more damage) .
    with each hit.
{which each successful hit with the dagger melee style, you would gain Moon Force).
Casting time: Instant; Cool down: 0

1 Evasive Roll Dodge your enemy's attack, consumes MP.
Casting time: Instant: Cool down 2 seconds

2 Blades Fury Spin Striking opponents in range and stagger them. (Gain Moon Force, replenish mp)
Casting time: Instant; Cool down: 2 seconds

4 Dashing strike Charge forward up to 15M and attack. Has a high chance of knocking down monsters as long as they
    are not a BAM.
Casting time: On Charging; Cool down: 3 seconds

6 Flying daggers Quickly throw up to seven daggers filled with the power of the moon, exploding on contact.
    (Uses Mp).
Casting time: Instant; Cool Down: 5 seconds

8 Moons Blight Throw your dagger in the air, bringing down the stars of heaven upon your enemy dealing a massive
amount of damage, but sacrificing half of your maximum hp to take half of their maximum. (Consumes
some of your Moon Force)(A risky move.. if you are not a good bladerunner.)
Casting time: Cool Down: 2 minutes

10 Beams of Wrath Throw your dagger to the ground between 15-20m. Call upon the power of the moon to strike your foes
down. (Uses MP) (PVP paralyzes opponent for 30 seconds)
Casting time: 2 seconds; Cool down: 30 seconds

12 Call of the Wild Displace your body and attack from all sides simultaneously. May cause weakening effects to other players,
such as reducing enduring and attack speed, while increasing your movement speed for a brief time.
    (Uses Mp)
Casting time: Instant; Cool down: 2 seconds

14 Summon Wraith All those monsters that you have killed has caught the attention of the spirit world. As a result you have
opened lines of communication, being a cousin of the necromancer class. You have an option to summon
only one of three monsters that you have slain, to your aid. (For each type of monster killed you have the
option to keep it's spirit as a summons. You can only hold up to three spirits, so choose wisely. Each spirit
raises levels separately, and starts at the appropriate level.. They will act Similar to that of the Mystics Thrall.
Should you choose to replace a Spirit with a new one acquired. You will then face the Spirits wrath after being
freed from your control. ) (Uses MP on summons afterwards Spirit Wraith has it's own Hp bar.)
Casting time: Instant; Cool down 3 minutes
*Note: Spirits may only be acquired in solo mode.

For now that's it. I'll add more later. And probably do some editing on it. It's been along time for me to remember everything it did.

The idea of samurai disgust me , those people were worse than Catholics and modern Muslims .

They killed and tortured anyone , even their own family and themselves for pure dogmatic and religious idiocy .
Why do people enjoy the idea of samurai and not terrorists or Catholic inquisitors ? they are the same crap .

Anything representing CULTURES that value death , suicid3 , torture , violence and any physical punishment is just disgusting to me ....

Barabaric culture as example , was obviously cruel and savage but at least those people valued life over death , nobody in this culture ever decapitated hir own young and innocent sons for ''honor''
  • I think the idea of a samurai is a great idea, and adds more diversity in TERA.
But the thing is, they have already released ninja, and samurai would be a bit similar to it (not saying they are "the same thing", but more like "they are both oriental style inspired")
Maybe add a new class inspired by another country's legends/history and such.
    For example, paladins or shamans.
Like falsifier's comment, we should focus on fantasy character classes too, stick to the theme.

This is my opinion, and I don't wish to fight. A critic is fine, just don't be rude.
  • We need more magical knights in this game.

There are some that obviously don't read the rest of the threads before they post. OP=Original Poster may have started this subject on the concept of a Samurai only class. However I am trying to steer this conversation into a new light. It would appear I may need to do so with a separate thread.
  • I have a few questions: would the samurai have two swords (tachi/katana and wakizashi/kodachi) or just one? Also would it utilize edge for ultimate attacks (like the Warrior's Scythe) or use a different mechanic? I have a couple ideas but just want to clarify.

History shows Samurai are skilled with many weapon, such as Naginata, Katana, Wakizashi, yari, Kamayaru, Sai, Tonta, Kama. They are not restricted to just sword use. A Samurai is basically a war lord specialized in many forms of combat. They are heavily armored, like a literal mobile tank. They are also immensily strong and fast. It is said that some actually had an aura of fear about them, yet this was only due to the way the looked.

I don't really think that BHS is going to add a Samurai, if they did it would be leaning away from the scope of the games story. I think though the Naginata would be more appropriate for Tera to use. That is if they did go with a Samurai character. They already put in ninja.

Berserkers, at least the viking berserker, and which I believe the Tera zerker is coming from, were also people from a culture (vikings) that pillaged and killed innocents just for the sake of acquiring land and riches. They even raided churches. They didn't do it to their own. But killing an innocent defenseless person from another country is the same kind of murder in my eyes as killing one of your own. So yeah, zerkers should also fall in your sphere of classes that shouldn't be in games.

Lastly, samurai and other killer and murderer cultures have been depicted in video games for a long time and given a less chaotic role.
