Looks like it's time to pull these out again:

Now, why would a game client be accessing those files in that screenshot? A game doesn't need to know about your Firefox Profile, but it's reading it because of XignCode.

One of my concerns with Xingcode is: does it run with elevated privileges?

From the research I did, yes, it runs in kernel-mode and thus is fully capable of doing everything the paranoid people are worried about. It basically functions like a root-kit, except it launches with the game and not when your computer boots. And like root-kits, it also seems to be a PITA to get rid of. Uninstalling Tera (or any other game that installs it) won't get rid of it and it does not appear in your add/remove programs list. You will have to manually delete files and edit the registry to get it off your system.

And to top it all off, it's been easily bypassed for years at this point. Like all DRM, it will do next to nothing to stop people from cheating while being a headache for legitimate users.

There is many Xingcode bypassers anyways according to what am reading.
So, Tera is already POORLY optimized, FPS drops are a constant even with a Mega-Gamer rig.

Put this [filtered] on, will increase the Cpu usage, making the gaming experience even worst than today. And for what?? For nothing, because as i said, there is bypasses-.

Dont know what will happen with proxys running on NodeJs.

Absolutely nothing, seeing as how ktera has xigncode and people run it still
  • If eme tells us that this is happening I'm asking for a full refund I don't want them to monitor me playing Minecraft forge in high priority then ban me.

    Rip my doom mods
  • Thanks @TJKat and @DeusFurta

Running elevated means that other exploits can use it as a backdoor to gain system access. Not good at all and quite irresponsible.

Yes. That is a big problem too.
My porn is not safe! :p

lol, sorry, it doesn't work that way. You can't ask for refunds because of a security program. Good luck though.

EDIT: Also, thread name needs to be changed, as it's misleading. Anti-cheat games are not malware programs. Just because you don't like it (or whatever reason) doesn't mean you get to sit here, call it malware, and cause a panic about anti-cheats.

well it is a rootkit my dude
a lot of the anticheats behave like malware and do nothing good for your system, they don't even prevent cheats as can be seen from ktera/bns/bdo examples

Once again, everyone is outraged whilst knowing next to nothing of the situation.
In the future, I'd recommend doing a little independent thinking and research instead of just regurgitating someone else's uninformed babbling. It does wonders for the soul.
What a presumptuous statement; talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

In other games and in other communities, XIGNCODE is notorious for high CPU usage, privacy issues, and false positives hurting innocent players. Most serious cheaters bypass it within an hour. Everyone else stuck using it gets to deal with the above issues.

In the future, I'd recommend doing a little independent thinking and research instead of just going off of your own solitary personal experiences.

This title isn't misleading at all. XIGNCODE latches itself onto your PC, sending out information about your activities even after you uninstall the game it's meant to protect. Since it doesn't do its job of stopping cheaters either (most just bypass the service entirely), it basically just exists to hide in the background, acting at an elevated level, sending out user information. That is straight up malware, dude. If they want to implement it, fine. But players have every right to know beforehand, this is disgusting.
