Just posting this here to say that Im deleting Tera. Maybe I'll come back if EME actually tells us why this is being added, but I doubt it. I played a bit back in 2012, quit for a while, came back for F2P (2015), then quit awhile again, then came back AGAIN just a few weeks ago, but I guess I'll have to quit for awhile again, maybe even permanently. Thanks for the good times EME.

If you want my speculation (as an amateur software/data guy), is that Wellbia is a company that works with data mining and analysis, or maybe works with a company that does? It just doesn't make sense that EME randomly purchases anti-cheat software this far into the game's lifecycle (6 years). If anything, this change would have been done much earlier, when the peak population was much higher. Nothing adds up and it all seems really fishy.
I agree... this is really fishy. Also, the only time i've seen literal mob farming bots was around 2013, and it was only 1 person. Since that time the only bots i seen are those weird ones that farm the guardian mission that has the 4 colors... and thats actually the most stupid thing to farm for a bot, the mission starts up every 10 or so minutes i guess, then takes 5 minutes to do, and you get 1 and a bit guardian boxes from it, which is maybe 100-200g worth of rubies if your lucky.... so someone has to have a pc sitting around to do just this, just to make 200g every 20 minutes or so, that seems worthless to me since you can make 10x that manually playing the game. And banning those bots would be easy as pie, a GM could just randomly look at that spot every so often and ban the 3-4 bots that appear there... would take literally 10 minutes a day to do at most.

As you said, this Welbia company that makes this Xigncode malware is likely a data mining front that has somehow convinced them to use it in TERA. I'm not sure if they both split the profits from the data they steal but this is a game, not facebook and you are not allowed to steal our files and data.

A quote from someone who examined Xignsign and what it does "One of the most common functions of this code is to monitor all of the files you have accessed in the last 48 hours"

Thats a privacy violation and illegal. Its not just monitoring your files inside your game folder, it monitors every file. And just as easily could catalog everything you have on your pc. Not to mention the other fears of it causing performance problems and extra wear on your ssd drive which will kill it. As someone already mentioned here and in other forums as well about it causing acting similar to a prefetch function on your pc.

Simply put, this is spyware. Catalogs your files, takes that info and sends it to a random server somewhere in korea.

Some Players : "EME do something about gold sellers!"

EME : Xingcode will be installed tomorrow

    Same Players : WTF!

    @seandynamite @CobaltDragon

This is for EME, if you can't keep confidential info secret until an official announcement from your own staff members is done then you already are screwed from within.

Instead of doing a witch hunt on players I would start a witch hunt on your own staff because with this you are proving you have people that can share confidential info about us to other people with malicious intent.

How are you going to answer to that?

I really don't care about this [filtered] thread about xingcode but if for starters you don't have people that can keep confidential info that way then it doesnt matter what you do about hacks, bots and mods on this game, you will get screwed before you take action.

They did seem to announce it officially. You know... two days before the patch comes out. Classy move EME. Such douchbagary, my god lol

Anyway. Here is my two cents. I`m not an expert on these things, but i`m pretty sure alot of games implement stuff like this XIGNCODE (with caps, because hyped paranoia, right?). Gotta put these things in some kind of prospective. I mean as far as data collection goes, every person with social media apps is basically a walking magnet for third party companies. If fact its likely that every time a person logs in (to anything), chances are that they are being monitored already. Not to mention all the times people just willing submit their data, even by registry entries alone. There are so many examples for this kinda stuff, I wouldn't even know where to start.

So whats a person to do? what are the real options out there? become super paranoid for life and stop using the internet altogether? maybe go full Linux and invest a fortune on creating the most elaborate secure network money can buy? spend thousands of dollars to hire professionals to erase you`re entire online existence for a measly five minutes, before you turn on you`re cell phone and then the whole thing has to start all over again? (because data collection op). No. Lets take it one step further. Leave the comforts of society and go live in the woods. Grow a man-bush all over you`re face, the size of a bee hive, and shun technology altogether. You`re gonna do that? Of course not. I`m being sarcastic. People are not going to do that because that would be stupid, paranoid and insane.

In fact, lets also look at this from a another angle as well. Lets be practical. You got something to hide? yeah. You probably do. But I really doubt that EME or Wellbia care about you`re porn. In fact, i`m not expert but if I had to guess... i`d say they probably don`t even care about most third party software all that much. I think that they are implementing this XIGNCODE3 junk for something more specific. The one thing I will mention though, is that I hope that the potato PC nation can still keep playing. This game already runs like a bad joke, so please don`t make things worse.

    4. If this puts you over the "limit", then you were already over the limit and you need a new computer. The performance impact is negligible.

How much dense can you actually be? Did it even occured to you that most people cannot even afford to upgrade let alone buy a whole new PC? Or perhaps did you miss the fact that almost half the players of the game have performance issues already, anti-cheat or not? Just because you have a beast of a computer and just because you dont care about having a software that literally invades parts of your computer that it shouldnt dont mean others are the same.

"You're just parroting what people say"

No, its nothing like that, there are solid, honest to god facts that this "anti-cheat" is not effective, its resource heavy and it literally spies on you, and no this is isnt an elaborate scheme of the community to [filtered] about EME and its tactics its about something that is honestly horrible. But go ahead, try to convince me otherwise, tell me that all this is all in my head and im a stupid EME hater and i have no idea about a software that is more shady than actual shady software.
  • We should do a petition, if 1000 players all stop elite status for a month, that's $15, 000 they"ll lose. That and less people paying into the game and they'll do something for sure

This won't actually stop bots m8, try doing just a few seconds of research and you'll be a little smarter.

I never said it will stop them. Try to read carefully and you will be a little smarter.

There is no single company that can stop cheaters and bots at all, even the biggest that have more resources than a small company like EME.

I wonder only why they chose to take this action and why they really try to acomplish with this, if anything xingcode doesnt hinder my laptops performance but as you said it really doesnt stops hacks devs at all, instead they get more profits from it.

So this can be to lead to think that someone in EME works with those hackers and share a comision for making this kind of things (leaking info before EME takes action). Because things like these have happened on other games from other publishers also.

You`re probably right. This thing isn't going to revolutionize online security, or fix the many MANY issues that this game has. This stinks of desperation on their part. But.. its.. not going away. You know that, right? that Tipanni person suggested doing a petition against this, getting 1000 players to stop using Elite for a month, and effect things on a more practical level. That idea wouldn't work because sheep are sheep and they are magnetized to their grinds. But it would be neat if that happened on a grand scale. Might have worked if it kept on for a very long time, and with alot more people.

The thing I wanna tell you though, that this is meaningless. I don`t like the idea of having this malware (is it what it is) around either. Its a desperate attempt at stopping something that's probably never going to stop. And for all you know, all the data collected could be sold to commercial entities for side money, much like happens on Facebook. There is a market for everything, even generalized statistic data alone. These things are probably not even reviewed by actual people, but by bots or some kind of analytical program.

My point being though.. I don`t think you`re a blind hater. Far from it. But you are mistaken if you think that commenting here makes a difference. I comment in these places when i`m bored, not because I think my words matter to anyone. We can look at the bright side though. Like with all software issues, when a problem comes up, someone will try to solve it. And if that someone ends up being EME, that would be fantastic.

I only replied to that person because it really gets me going when people think that everyone has the same standarts as them, i know no amount of us [filtered] will change anything and personally i dont care, in the end, i'll keep playing this game for my own reasons and i hope that i will keep doing so after tommorow. What i do care about is having my account intact, meaning that i dont want to get falsely banned because i had some overlay on or something. [filtered] anti-cheats are everywhere these days, the best you can ask for is to not hog all your resources and not get you banned for no reason, because really, who cares about "cheaters" in Tera?

I often like to think that when some software issue comes up, it won`t be long before it will be solved by some sort of update. And if EME or BHS ends up being the ones that address this issue properly, that would be fantastic.

To be totally honest i dont care if they make us use some [filtered] anti-cheat, what game doesnt? But i'll still feel bad for people that will have their performance affected or even get falsely banned. Like i said, i dont care if it effecitvely detects "cheaters" i care about performance impacts and false possitives and yes, i really hope either BHS or EME address any issues that might occur.

This is using a game that has xingcode:

    etFNhtS.jpg

This game is Closers, one of several that use Xingcode.

I dont see how this is something abnormal and will hurt my hardware. Here some people are over reacting about it. I can even get worse activity from only windows 10 if it doesnt get tweeked.
  • I saw on Essential mana this https://essentialmana.com/news/2222018-patch-note/ , so, what about proxy prevention? we get this update to with patch 69?

Being Paranoid doesnt help other people, being paranoid only create caos and missinformation.

The order of the screenshoots are as you asked, before opening the laucher, then opening the launcer, then opening the game and last with the game already running.

    Source game: Closers with Xingcode.
