    He probably cannot chain combos

Equalized BGs aren't actually equalized because one side has more dyads than the other
Some players are gray and don't accurately show their position
Matching is [filtered] up because it seems like low rating players are always matched up together

Dyads are nice, but they don't provide enough of a stat boost to trump skill. Make sure you have proper PvP crystal set up as the difference between someone with PvP crystals vs PvE is quite big.

Grey characters are due to the game's poor optimization.

Low rating vs high rating is due to the game's poor match making system and the abuse of "sync queing" this is where people queue at the same time for a high chance of nding up on the same team.

In your initial post, you made mention that the game has horrible PvP mechanics, but poor optimization, broken queue system, and dyads has nothing to do with the game's core PvP mechanics.

Refer to the video below for what mechanics are. Things such as Tera's combat system would be mechanics. Another example would be comparing the mechanics between how Super Smash Bros melee plays vs how Super Smash Bros Brawl plays:

OP's not even wrong. When you run into a zone and it's a bunch of grey blobs, and then one of them backstabs you before you can even see him? That's a [filtered] joke, dude. And the desync is out of control, my god. People who show up nowhere near you will be hitting you. You'll see people chaining their skills in front of another player but hitting them from behind. You'll leash people and see the skill hitting but the people just keep walking like nothing happened. Certain classes are completely imbalanced, where all they have to do is stagger you once or backstab stun you and they can keep you locked for ages with zero counterplay. Mass pvp favors zerg guilds that can just swarm smaller groups with zero strategy involved, so the same lousy guild wins CU every week because it's just a numbers game. God help you if you want to build your rank in FWC. If you queue with friends, the queue will literally never pop because of how party queues work now. If you queue alone, you'll get trapped with BRs who afk at the entrance, and if you try to sync queue you'll end up pitted against your friends. Whole teams getting wiped out at the first encounter and then swimming in the water for 15 minutes because their team's fodder and the other team's not. It's a genuine joke, a one sided farce over half of the time. My friend is always trying to duel me in town, and honestly the game's combat has never felt less fluid than when I'm trying to duel someone.

I've yet to see pvp done well in a korean mmo, but this game has some of the most underwhelming stuff I've ever seen. Nobody I know even enjoys fraywind canyon, everyone just seemed pissy and aggravated all weekend, but they put up with it for the jackpot event rewards. If you like it, kudos to you and keep doing what you're doing, but on some level you've gotta realize pvp in tera is jank as [filtered].

Yes even at 250-300 ping if you PVP like freaking everytime. You will get you used to it and get gud. I stopped playing PVP not because I hate it but because I can only play casually since Im busy with work. Not like when I was in college that I could afford to play.
  • I still believe that Tera has the best combat system to date, even after playing BDO for a good amount of time (BDO is almost just as good in a different way). Sadly optimization and lag really does destroy the games potential . Tera still really does have the best combat system at its core, it's just poor execution and a lack of care completely overlaps the positives.

You would imagine if the original dedicated developers of Tera did not leave/quit BHS multiple years ago how this game would look after actual updates, patches, and optimization, If, like BDO, FF14 ,ESO, the game constantly poured major expansions and actual fixes to this day with concrete thought, how different Tera Online would be right now in 2018.
If Tera was a paid subscription rather than a f2p model then the developers might have more consideration for the opinions of the players and the state of the game.

At the end of the day, think about if the ONLY other expansion we ever got was the finished Baldera at its full form, a new optimal battleground like fraywind, and a completely new dungeon such as Timescape, how majorly different the game feel like compared to the present.
  • In months of running dungeons I got kicked once, when I singlehandedly wiped us three times in a row (didn't plague in lkhm as I didn't know the timing).
Within 7 games of fwc I got kicked twice.
Yeah no, screw that, I don't even care about the performance
