Why are DPS classes so unbalanced?

You need to think as BHS.
Real content is hard and expensive to make (i.e: new models, maps, code optimizations, etc), so what the developer do to keep the hardcore player in the game?
They just buff some variables, put some new shiny skill and make an old class extremely OP till the point that is doing at least 50-100% more damage than the class that the hardcore player is playing atm..
Endgame players are competitive by nature, so they'll reroll to stay competitive..
Another huge benefit (from the dev standpoint): As EVERY fkn cosmetic and p2w mount on Tera is soulbound, the hardcore player will buy everything again from the cash shop, so it's a win-win for BHS!

Ofc this is a very dirty (and disrespectful) tatict and prob only work on short term. After that hardcore player reroll for the 3rd...4th time they'll think that they're idiot and prob will reroll to another game.

Naturally it's not hard to balance classes. But it's their honest intention to rotate strongest classes to make players reroll and in doing so buying more costumes, spending more money /time to gear up.

It's one of the artificial ways that BHS has been using to prolong the cycle of the game aside from making the content as unrewarding as possible.
I always wonder if this bs rly works....

There's so many ways to "awaken/revamp" things to make the game better overall without screwing the playerbase, like why not revamp zerk tank and make them a viable tank class on endgame???

Uhhhh.... you guys make it sound that the 2nd part of awakening isnt coming :/
You're very naive or new on this game if you think that "awakening bs 2nd part" will balance anything.
You can mark my words: They'll just change who's the broken af class and prob the dps gap between the top and bottom dps will be at least 50%.
It's just business. If they balance everything (or at least keep the dps gap at a reasonable 15..20%...) nobody will reroll = less cash shop sales.

Yeah... but this is an issue that's been happening for years.

Reapers came out and they crapped all over everything. I fondly remember the LFG ablaze with posts barring reapers from joining.
Then came gunners and they made archers obsolete. Not to mention the +15 system was starting to take off and I think we all know how that went...
Then came brawlers who could out-DPS an entire 5-man party.
    No comment on ninja.
    But valks? Oh boy...

Point is, yes, all classes will eventually be Apexed, but it only does so much to solve a problem that probably should never have existed.

Why does this surprise you, friend? BHS has never been good at balancing their classes. Heck, look at the healer situation. It's only two classes they have to balance there, yet patch after patch after patch for YEARS, they've tipped the balance so hard in one class' favor. Even now, when the two are about as close as they're ever gonna get, mystic can basically do a priest's buff equivalents just by existing while also doling out thrall buffs, while a priest has to juggle all these active skills and loses a chunk of their kit every time they go into god mode (edict).

Seriously, not trying to be mean or even disagree with you, I hate it too, but you're barking up the wrong tree if you want a game with balanced classes. Can't really think of any game that balances classes well tbh, especially not Korean MMOs. tl;dr make a mystic if you want to heal, a zerk/warrior if you want to dps, or a lancer if you want to tank. Then move to Chicago and buy 4,000 dollars worth of parts to build yourself a custom watercooled gaming PC and only play it from a grocery store industrial meat freezer. <- Tips for optimal performance in Tera Online, thank me later.

So basically, we have to shut up and play the awakened classes if we want to be competitive in PvE because BHS wants to make money from costumes? Yeah, I'll keep playing my ninja and never spend a penny on this game.

BHS is actually scum for trying to manipulate their customers. They don't even realize that entrapment marketing doesn't work on the majority of players.

But what can you expect from a company that thinks their customers are stupid.

Too bad they won't realize that they don't know what they are doing until it's too late.

Sam Walton built Walmart into one of the most successful businesses in North America by putting the customer first.

BHS is slowly killing their products by putting their lack of respect for their customers, and greediness for money first.

Tera could be one of the most popular mmo's right now but BHS is too greedy and incompetent to pull it off. Wish they would just sell Tera to someone that knows what they are doing.

Then they release Elin Brawler and all problems are solved.

Or rather, everyone stops caring, at least until someone gets kicked out of party for not being "meta" enough and the cycle begins anew.
  • Just stop playing the game. Maybe they will wake up after everyone leaves.
