Advise on guild dedication and improving as a player
I have been playing with the same guild for over a year playing mostly as dps. We have one tank and one healer and 7-10 active dps. I've been feeling like 2nd string dps for a while I think it might be because my skill is not up to par with the other dps in the guild. Should I leave the guild? or just get good and focus on instance matching and lfg for end game dungeons? One reason why I'm conflicted everyone is pretty nice for the most part and helped me since I started playing the game again. Any advice would help.

If you actually feel left out (despite their efforts) then I'd consider leaving. Ideally, a guild is supposed to feel like a little home, a circle of friends that you can do stuff with (despite skill differences). And if you feel like they're not taking you because others are better, or if you feel like you can't play (and practice) as much as you'd like because of it, then a different guild might provide better opportunities for you.
First though, if you think they're open for talks, try talking with them about your concerns, tell them the truth that you wouldn't like to leave but you also feel like "2nd string". Maybe it turns out it's just a misunderstanding ^.^
In many cases it is as miskay said. In my guild, we have masochists who enjoy learning runs so we do that fairly often when someone shows the initiative and speaks up. Thing is, we're not psychic, so we also get people who feel like they're "second string" but they don't bring it up and they continue to feel left out for no reason. Guilds, when done well, are SO MUCH BETTER than IMS/LFG though. They're generally chiller and nicer to each other throughout the run, are more forgiving of mistakes, and are just less pressure in general. If that's not how you feel in your current guild, then yeah, maybe it is time to look for a different one. If I were you, I'd politely make my concerns known to an officer in the guild, and then begin searching for a replacement guild while staying in the current one. If things haven't improved by the time you find a new guild, then just say your goodbyes, thank everyone, and hop out.
Would definitely not suggest thrusting yourself into lfg/ims though. Once you hit 439 ilvl dungeons, IMS becomes a complete gamble on whether or not you can even clear; LFG, depending on the server, can be comparable to IMS too. It really sounds like your guild just doesn't have a lot of people (a common problem nowadays) and they can afford to be selective with dps so they just are. An alternative solution is to make a tank, but then you're still missing a healer, so eh.
As for getting good, there're a number of things you can do. Hit up essentialmana for basic guides if you haven't already. Make sure your crystals are right. Ask others who run dps meters how your damage is, or get one yourself and don't tell anyone about it. Compare your hits per minute on core skills to the hits per minute of better players on moongourd. Ask other players for advice. We used to have class specific subforums here but NOT ANYMORE because someone thought it was a good idea to remove them waytogo.
Oh okay. I'm also on CH. I can't really stand logging in lately, but maybe in the future I will, so feel free to just PM me your healer or your DPS's ign and we can run stuff if you want.
The new forums had this weird consolidation goal in mind. Someone felt like class subforums were not active enough to warrant existence, even though the whole point of a good forum (as opposed to a chat room, or a single fast-moving discord server) is to have lengthy discussions that stick around so others can find them potentially years later and add to them if needed. This is also why I can't understand locking "necro" threads where the main issue hasn't been resolved yet, assuming it isn't just some troll digging up a bunch of old stuff to make a mess. There's NOTHING bad about reviving an old discussion to add input in my opinion, but so many people take this warped perspective on what a forum is supposed to accomplish. Prime example: this forum in particular, where a bunch of 'dead' sections will be 'retired' and the general section will apparently become this dumping ground for everything from pve discussion, to pvp discussion, to discussion about every single particular class, tot new player assistance, to trading ads, to guild recruitment, to roleplay discussion.
I think it's unorganized and makes it hard to find anything. In the past, if I wanted to find a specific lancer related post, I'd just go into the lancer section and it'd usually be there on the first or second page. If I had a lancer related question, I'd ask it *in the lancer section,* and then I'd check back in a day or two and have a few really good responses from people whose IGNs were attached to their posts and indicated that they actually played lancer. Today, if I search for anything I get a jumbled messy list that takes ages to sort through. If I want to ask a class specific question, I get armchair-players who won't even post their stats or IGN, weighing in on a topic and polluting the thread with BS and misinformation. Whom is this consolidation meant to serve? Who asked for this? Like, legit, total shot in the dark but I'd take the old forums back any day of the week. Being able to downvote posts might have seen some abuse but I'd love it with the way things are now.
