My guess on the reason why you started this thread is because you're upset that your going to lose your name. The best way for Enmasse to go about doing this is based solely off overall played time, and has logged into their account at least once in the last 6 months. AS WELL AS the character should be max level 65. Someone who has created a new character and has been actively playing for a month straight should not get a name over someone who has put in a vast amount of played hours and is a old character that is active within the last 6 months.

This is one of the most fair ways to do this.

I like the idea someone else had about having an account nickname and using that as the name for all of your characters.
eme should start all over and make it where we have to come up with an account name for ourselves, then all of our characters will be named that. fist come first served for the nickname and then all would be fair. I know many will complain about what if im at work that morning and all the weeb names get snatched up, then you would have to get clever or stay out of work that day, or go in late.
I played a game online before my injuries where we had that. grand chase wasn't tera, but it was still fun and cute. we even had player housing to a degree. true you could make new accounts to get different nicknames, but you would have to start all over and level and gear up again.
@KitTeaCup , could we get this instead of having a dog fight over names?

What I don't see good on this name selling activity is the way EME forbid on forums but allows on discord. That is a contradictory statement.

If they will not enforce any punishment against them at least they should have the same stance in forums and other mass social media.

Personally, I agree that consistency would be good here and would make more sense.

That's such a huge fundamental change to how chat works in this game that they'll never do that now. I'd rank it as "nigh-impossible" on the technical likelihood scale. People's concern over losing names just isn't worth the amount of programming effort that'd be required. Plus, it's unlikely that this is a change all the other regions would want either, and they wouldn't change something like this just because our region asked for it.

The other smaller point is that it's not something you can easily just super-impose on a game after the fact, because maybe people don't want other players to know who their alts are for privacy reasons. If the game were always like this from the start, you'd know (and if you really want that kind of privacy, you'd create a second account or something -- on PS4 and XB1, you can see a players gamertag/ID with their characters), but it's going to cause unintended consequences to add it later, even if you communicate it clearly.

So yeah, anyway, while I think it's a good idea for starting over, it's pretty much an impossible ask now.

I know it would be a lot of work on their part to add that feature, but it would stop name sellers all together. I do agree it would have been the best way to do it if it was from the start, but it could still be done. its just a thought though. if I lose my names, I wont be heart broken cause I know I can easily come up with new names. also the names I do have, I highly doubt that anyone else is going to be competing against me for them cause they aren't anime names or 4 or 5 letter names. I would like to know what their intentions are, so I can know if I need to delete some or if I will be safe in being able to keep all my characters and if I cant, will they compensate me for the character slots I used to create them with. it wouldn't be fair if I had to delete them when they didn't give us any warning that we may lose them when we bought the slots.

At the very least I am sure they will announce the details about a month before the actual merger, as they did on console and in past mergers here. They'll want time to email all the people who might be affected by the name wipe, as they did last time as well. Here this was just an early heads-up because they knew that if they announced it for console only, it would just increase the yelling from the PC side, but our actual merger is coming later.

I've become rather attached to a few of my names and can honestly say that I would be devastated if I lost a couple of them. As somebody with one of every class (and two of some of them, plus more slots for later characters), it's difficult for me to play some of them all the time due to a full-time job and raising a family, so naturally the less-played characters didn't get names that I would grow to be incredibly attached to. I do, however, have three or four characters that I've built a reputation on. People on my server of choice know me by those names. I've made friends and connections because of some of those names, even, and they've essentially became a part of me. The characters I'm attached to are max level, but their gear isn't the greatest because I don't take a whole Hell of a lot of time to run dungeons and things- I do it sometimes, but for the most part I'm too busy enjoying the "MMO" aspect over the "RPG" aspect. If they take ilvl into heavy consideration, I can confidently say that I'll lose quite a few names, probably including some of the ones I've grown to love dearly. For some players, a name is just a name, but for others it's grown to be a part of who we are within the community. I certainly hope that they take total play time into consideration more than just ilvl, and also give the people who have had those names for longer- and were active playing the characters of course instead of just letting the name sit on a level 1- a fair chance at keeping them instead of the many people who made an alt, got a cool name, used a level-60 scroll, and grinded their way to 65 in three hours so they could max out their gear in a week or two. Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against maximum effort in minimum time- Hell, new character releases happen with that exact idea in mind- but just because I haven't been the most vigilant player in terms of gear building doesn't mean that I haven't been spending countless hours a week working on making friends, fulfilling achievements, or helping build up my guild.

An all-character account nickname is a no-go for me, sorry; some of my characters would seem really out-of-place with whatever nickname I chose, as I've got some characters that are very cute and kawaii but also some characters that are more dark and sensual, plus I have one male character that would just seem totally out-of-tune with the rest of my female characters no matter what nickname I chose to use.

I hope they do similar to what they're doing with the console merge, to be honest, and concentrate mostly on active playtime of the characters. I'd also like to see a name-wipe like they've done in the past, where a month before the merge they send an email to all accounts letting players know that they have one month to log in to their characters and seal their chance at keeping their names. I've seen people come back after a name-wipe complaining that they couldn't get on because no internet, no time, no computer, etc. but there's always a way to log in, even if it means temporarily using a friend's computer for a day to download the game and log in, just so that you know you've got a shot at still having your names after logging in later on when you can be more active. I did actually lose some names with a wipe that they did some time ago because I didn't check my email and was inactive at the time, and that's nobody's fault but my own- I didn't take it personally, EME was just trying to keep it fair for everybody. I'm hoping that they keep with the same idea as they've had in the past; some of us have spent countless days of cumulative time on our characters, and it would be a real heartbreaker for somebody who spent sixty dollars and two logged-in days to usurp our names just based on their ilvl.

Also, I play quite a few other MMORPGs that use the whole [CharacterName-AccountName] tactic to combat this, and to be perfectly blunt it always looks really tacky to me. It's honestly the reason I didn't stick around on the console version, because I didn't like the fact that every single person I interacted with could also see my PSN. I understand why they do it, but just don't think it's very aesthetically-pleasing to me personally. If EME were to implement something like this, I'd of course still play the game, but can't say I'd be happy with the change... Maybe some sort of thing where the [AccountName] was a hidden pop-up that you could only see if you clicked the character's name in-chat or the actual character in-world would be a bit easier on those of us who don't enjoy seeing the account names of every single character. For instance, as it is right now, when you click the character or name, it pops up with their name, race, class, and level- naturally, it wouldn't be that hard to also add in some sort of way to see their account name by clicking on them? To be honest, just about everybody already has an account name anyways, right? Aren't the forum names that we all signed up with unique to everybody as it is right now? I wouldn't think it would be too difficult to just use these names as our in-game account names, since almost everybody already has one unless they've never used the forums... And those that haven't used the forums could just be prompted to create an account name for in-game, and then it would also be used as their forum name.

This is just all too much. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of merging servers and finding some new people to interact and play with, but by far my least-favourite part about it is the fact that I could lose my names that I've grown to love and have spent so many years using... ;\
