PvP Noob Question... Different Gear?

So, I've been playing this game for a few months now and just staring to get into PvP lately. I seem to really be misunderstanding something. So I'm trying to use my lancer for PvP for now and looking up guides. One of the newer ones I've found is this: https://www.u4gm.com/news/tera/tera-lancer-pve-pvp-guide . So it says there's different rolls for PvP equipment...

That's where I'm like, "WTF?" I thought that only crystals and glyphs where switched for PvP by the player, but that the game gives EVERYONE equal equipment. I looked at another lancer in a CS match and all his gear was the same as mine except for the shiny crystals that I don't have yet. Am I missing something? Do I need to buy another set of Guardian gear items and level them with different stats and they apply in battlegrounds too? Or are the PvP sections in these guides more for like doing 1v1s in town when your gear isn't automatically switched. Guess I'm just confused. I super suck at PvP so I'm just wondering why everyone seems to do a ton more damage and permastun me, and I can't do anything, haha. I just suck, I know :) I appreciate the feedback. Thanks :)

    CS gives you equalized gear for everyone and you can only change crystals in it. Fraywind is different. Under 449 item level you get equalized gear thats around the same as stormcry +1. This gear is tons better than CS one but still kinda poop. 449 and above in FWC you can use your "real gear" over equalized. Now you can use the rolls on gear and accessories that are better for pvp. Thats why most people use double roll option. I wouldnt recommend doing it if youre not full stormcry since its kinda expenaive. Basically it lets you have 2 different sets of rolls on single equipment without having to use a different piece, so having pve and pvp rolls is quite handy and wont handicap you in either content (given you remember to switch)

    Aww, okay. Thank you so much for the information :) Hopefully the more I play in PvP the better I'll get even up 'till I can do the double roll thing. I'm still getting destroyed in like every fight I get into haha. Oh well, that's the game XD Appreciate it. Cheers. :+1:
