Fraywind Canyon

There are two main pvp that everyone qu's for: Corairs' Stronghold(CS) and Fraywind Canyon(FWC). When it comes to CS, there is a 50% chance of winning or losing. It is based upon strategy and working together as a team. However, FWC is based upon the qu-sync that you are in. I have noticed that if I end up in a certain guilds qu-sync it is a guarantee win. If you are facing against that guilds qu-sync it is a guarantee lose. There is an absolute no middle ground. This is due to the fact that this guild's party has mostly +9 and HO along with the advantage of VO; not having to reply upon trying to fight and type. While the opposing team is made up of majority solo players with eq armor. An EQ cannot damage someone in HO; even less so EQ vs HO+. It is for this reason that FWC is now considered to be a box farm. The moment they see a massive guild qu, they don't even try. They know they won't win. If the qu's were completely random, no one knows who they are playing with or against. It can give everyone an equal chance at actually winning.

If you can't beat them, join them - A man
  • Gear helps but even when FWC was EQ the winners were still stomping the losers. And if everyone soloq'd, the winners(meaning good players) would still stomp the losers. You do have to gear up but more importantly you have to get better and actually care about winning. I've been soloqing on my ninja for the past week and I've seen lots of baddie vs baddie matches with literally no one recognizable on either team, and one side will still be AFKing and not even trying. You can't shift the blame onto people who just want to win, it's the losers who are holding the games back by not even trying -- even in games they can win. Everyone would win a bit more if they tried harder, and the harder you try the better you get at the game too.

CS is a bit more random than 50% win too. If you're good you'll have a much higher win rate than 50%, and if you sync even more-so. It has very little to do with teamwork most matches as well, you just have to climb and defend ladders better than the enemy. If you are letting randoms hold you back by trying to do team plays with them you're probably throwing unless both teams are good(which doesn't happen that often).
  • You avoid syncs by queuing before or after they've popped into a game, not by waiting for them to complete their match and then trapping yourself again.

Pretty much everyone would be happier if syncing didn't work since teams are better because you can carry your qt egirl healers ;), and because no one likes getting split from their pals. Games are way more fun when multiple premades are on both sides too. And I do want to say that premades are stronger than syncs and that people have a harder time getting a premade than a sync, so it's not a "problem" that they don't work if I'm looking at it from your perspective. It's just an inconvenience for tryhards and for healers who want to climb up in rating.
  • I think that biggest problem is the player distribution. Since the queue system just puts the teams together randomly and you can have 5 lancers vs 0 tank classes etc. It should have an algorithm based on class distribution and probably based on ilvl and/or ranking. So that one team is not full EQ gear.
Also what I saw yesterday, many people just simply give up and don't even try to fight. People just assume that they will lose, even though you can still try and after a bigger point difference, then you can give up and derp around. For example, in FWC on the very beginning I was capping the pyre closest to my base and a team member joined me to cap. Then 1 enemy player joined us and my teammate just run off without even finishing capping the pyre. Even though we were 2v1.. even though, as I saw later on, that enemy was, in fact, EQ gear.

Overall, IMO, the sync queue is not the problem, since it is normal to want to play together with your buddies. The issues lie in matchmaking system itself as well as some attitudes of the players.
  • There nothing stopping people gearing up and getting their friends together and q'ing with them. This stigma that being able to sync q is some exclusive ability which only the most geared and dedicated pvpers are able to do is kinda dumb..
  • there should be a queue for IL 453+ and one for eq players thats it

Like, it would be hella easy to kill off the sync queue issue if the matchmaking just made players go team A, team B by entering order, instead of "fill team A, then team B" kind of crap that it seems to do (since such practice works after all). You would have to be a lot more ingenious on the sync thing and actually have knowing feeders to do it.

Some people do have trouble both gearing up and making friends though, particularly if they're high ping or have a bad PC making PVP very challenging(which is the real problem with FWC tbh, people are PVP challenged). Like I can sync all day and won't lose that much but it's not strictly because I'm syncing, it's just that there are a lot of players who don't really know what they're doing. Like if a bunch of good teams were queuing FWC it'd be a lot harder to hold these 90%~ win ratios :#
  • I know we all know what the problem with sync q is. But if you dont ill let you know why i hate it. When all or majority of the top tier pvpers are on one side how is that even pvp any more? Sync q ing COMEPLETELY removes the point of solo q and maybe you would be able to get q's as groups if so much of the people playing the game right now didnt find pvp so boring due to sync q.

And yeah playing with your friends is fun, but lets take LOL for example. If you want to play with more than 1 other friend there is a completely different game type for that as to keep matches fair and making it so that several pro players can just all team up and dominate ranked matches. And so why shouldnt that very smart and fair system be the case for this game as well? Why should other players be punished because they dont have full HO or sc +9 and healers to pocket them? Just shows how selfish this community is especially now that they added masks on the table for rewards.
