Ryzen 1700 1080ti low fps ?

Hi, I just bought a new pc, and have no issues with it atm, but on tera I'm running at like 20 fps, can drop to 15 or less on cities like highwatch, and have like 40-60 outdoors but if I encounter someone it gets down to 30 or something, is that normal or am I missing something ?

How much RAM do you have, is it single or dual channel, and how fast is it? (also what do you have it running at in your bios) - Also do you have Tera running on a regular hard drive, or an SSD?

These things will all help determine the issue. Ryzen chips are also clocked a good bit lower than Intel chips so their single thread performance does lag behind a bit, which hurts Tera because it is very CPU heavy and not optimized to make use of more than two threads. This compounded with the fact that their MCM interconnect is extremely RAM speed dependent can likely be the cause of some of this. (Faster RAM = Faster Interconnect = Faster R7 1700)
  • tera only cares about two things: 1) 2 *very* fast cpu cores, 2) hard drive seek/load time
AMD processors are worse for tera, always have been, so to get decently smooth fps you'll want about a 5ghz amd cpu or a 4.2ghz intel cpu and any video card from the last 5 years, paired with a quality fast SSD or m.2 drive.

You.... You DO realize that Ryzen is incapable of 5GHz without unconventional cooling right? Even the 2xxx series Ryzen chips only hit 4.3-4.5Ghz and usually on god-tier binned chips.

I also run Tera on a pretty modest system - though I do have a few of the flashier settings turned down 1 or 2 notches from max.

    R5 1600 - No OC
    16Gb (2x8) DDR4 set at 2400Mhz
    RX480 8Gb - No OC
    Samsung 950 EVO 250Gb SSD

Nothing crazy or special, and Tera runs without much issue at 1440p. I suspect OP might have Tera installed on another hard drive, or on a regular mechanical drive that is causing his game to drop framerate when loading in resources, and may not have his RAM set up which is hurting CPU performance.

Agreed, even one is a waste. 1080Ti is a much better alternative, and even as an AMD fan I'm saying that. :p

Don't think it's about the processor exactly (ofc in order to run any game "smoothly" you need a decent build). My cpu is a ryzen 1600x and my gpu is a 1050ti and I easily get 100 fps in any dungeon running graphics 5-6 (it doesn't matter as long as you low things such as shadow, for example), obviously I don't run EVERYTHING on my graphics on maximum, but most is. Also I personalized my engine, so it depends mostly on the engine configuration and the in game graphics options configuration than on the processor itself. If I lower my graphics I can get even more than 100-130.
Neither amd nor intel will handle tera 100% with full graphics and useless stuff displaying on the screen such as most of the skill's effects and like grass, shadows... of course it's a problem with tera since any other game runs very smoothly for either of intel or amd.
GW2 for example, has a lot more of colors and a more "beautiful" graphic than tera and fps never is a problem. of course gw's engine isn't as [filtered] as tera's.

You really need to change your in game graphics options, test stuff. And I'd recommend configuring your engine as well. It'll help a lot. It's not about your build, it's about the game's engine and the in game options.

but tera 2 need Ryzen Threadripper 2 RTX 2080 Ti for tera vr if you want to watch elin pantsu in vr :3

I have ddr4 16gb ram 3000 CL15, but I may not use them at their max potential since I think for the x370 I need to OC them up in the bios or something, so might be using them at 2100 or something actually

I already put like 1500 dollars on my build so it'd be tough to actually get that lol

True, I have my windows 10 installed on an 240 SSD and my tera game installed on my 2Tera HDD, but I don't think it would impact much to switch from HDD to SSD would it ? My HDD isn't that bad either and is pretty recent

I already tried to put everything at lowest but the fps are the same really, maybe the issue comes from the fact that I'm using like 20% of my gpu and 14-17% of my cpu, or it's normal idk
