What is "Aman"?

Do you have some sort of a negative experience with Amani in anyway? The reason for my question is a fact, that most of people play elin, human, castanic, elf, even [filtered] Baraka and popo! But why there is no aman? But personal preferences in a race is not such a problem. Tho its not so much news with amani at background, no new classes (not a problem tho, cuz you probably more interested in these stupid elins *ugh!*), I do see people playing amani, thats nice! But the amount of effort developers make to them is negligible. From my point of view.

I really like Amani as a characters (femani is just ah! best waifus <3<3<3), but... No even braw or gunn for them... Yeah. elin is a better choice here!

Lets make new class for amani – the yo-yo master: we will give them yo-yo so they will shut their yo-yo's up (is it true? cuz it looks like that). I do like the changes happening to TERA™ right now, but I never wanted my favorite race to disappear forever in the darkness. *eternal_cries*

Sincere apologies for my English.

  • Off the top of my head, Amani were enslaved by Tithus and through some efforts they were freed, and Kaia took them in.
  • Even though the aman have their own appeal... they don't really sell; especially in the east. As much as I would love to have an aman brawler, I just don't see anything like this happening any time soon.

Aesthetics are a major factor in people choosing what race they want to play as, not to mention marketing. Castanics and elin are advertised the most so you see a lot of them on basis of exposure alone ("Oh wow, they look so cool/cute!"). There's a healthy amount of amani men wandering about, but amani women are making a slow resurgence despite many people finding their design... inconsistent (the men are more reptilian, while the women look more... human, I guess? and, of course, the "elephant feet").

It is what it is. Whether or not amani are actually getting neglected is up for debate, but there's no denying that BHS love their castanics, and the S.Korean playerbase - their main market - love elin. Not much the rest of us can do about it outside of try to relay the disapproval (for want of a better term) to BHS directly.

But... Femani dance is best dance.
  • I feel like if they redesigned the Amani race, people would be more likely to choose them. Right now they are rather large and feel kind of clunky. If they redisgned the race to feel smoother and maybe not as large people would choose them. I for one do not play Femani because I don't want my character to have elephant feet.
  • I for one do not play Femani because I don't want my character to have elephant feet.
Perhaps ironically, when they've designed cash shop costumes for them that do actually remove the "elephant feet," many people who play Amani were incensed because they felt the Amani feet were an essential part of their identity. But I think you're right that this is the sort of tough situation that keeps them a "niche race" in this game.
  • I'm not into beast or animal races in any game. I did play the elins for a little while but I'm pretty much over that. Even if I did like the amani, though, they've been neglected for far too long for me to actually play one. I'm a big costume person, and there's so many costumes out there that flat out just don't have amani female versions (I don't care about the feet), and the male versions usually look so bad compared to the way they look on castanic males or elf males, for example.
  • I do understand that Castanics and elins are the best way to use them as a marketing ploy. But is that a reason to completely ignore some of other races? Amani and Baraka for example. I really love stuff that is completely far away from human-like-anything (Xenophilia at its best), but my heart tells me, that TERA lives for now only because people want to play elins and buy stuff like costumes and etc. Many people says that TERA is already dead for a long time, I dont want to believe in that :( Just really want this game to improve in as many ways as possible, not only one. Is there any chances for this happen? (talent system, craft upgrade and fishing is a good start for that! in my humble opinion)

I've debated making a femani for a while - I have a few aman male characters because I love how they look, but there's two details that make femanis off-putting such as:

    1) Skimpy armor on a dragon lady. No thank you. If my femani looks like she can realistically wear full plate and not collapse from the weight then make her wear full plate. I get that you could cover these up with costumes, but when most costumes butcher femani feet or just don't have a variant for femanis, then..

    2) Lack of "good" hairstyles. Don't get me wrong, there are a few good ones, but it never feels like there's any form of variety in femani hair. You either have the hair done up in a weird pontyail or the hair is woven around the horns.

One of the few good things Bless Online did was have surprisingly creative hairs for the more bestial races. For the Pantera and Lupus (big cat/dog people) a lot of their hairstyles integrated things like teeth into the hair to make them look unique. I genuinely wish we could have something like that for the male and female aman.

Or maybe I just need to buy one of those animal costumes and throw it on a femani and get the thing to 65 to say I play a femani, idek.
  • I had a 'thing' for anything dragon-ish since i was a kid, so my choice of race when i just started playing Tera was quite easy. Since then (years have passed). 8 beatiful beasts are now epicly marching on character selection screen. They are perfect for me in almost everything, if not everything.

I do play new classes, but when they are 65, they start to collect dust or just get deleted. After playing amani for so long I just can not play any other race, it's just feels off.
Buying costumes for my boys might be a bit harder than for more 'popular' races, but that does not stop me.

I only wish more competent company have created this race, so those beasts would have been treated same way as others.
  • Although I love elins and have an army of all possible classes, I also like femanis, which I have in all possible classes too.
Would be very nice to have a femani gunner, brawler and valkyrie. Not really picturing them as ninjas and reapers, but we're getting elin brawler, so who cares.
About their feet, I just can't stand human feet that come with most costumes, so their attire is very limited to FC and few old costumes.
There are also big differences among those races in being same class, but at the end I never did care about that.

I would say that the budget (and ye, developer attention span as well) is limited enough to concentrate only on the money makers. Sadly, this may not always fit one's taste, that and the lack of courage to move from the comfort zone and bet against the odds, which is a given for a company of sufficient size if the investment needed is sufficiently big (it can make or break a company after all).

As for advertisement, I feel like if you were to advertise the game on a single shot, adding all possible races either does the trick or creates way too much stuff visually, so since they already have more in line for those two races, they focus on them and not all, would be my bet. And then, at this point starting to advertise more on the races that otherwise don't have the content that others do, is sort of a shot on the foot, so even if we were to disconsider the playerbase preferences as a majority and call it all even, at this point it's already too big of a snowball anyway.

As I always say and hope, the best shot for the other not as popular as Elin races, is BHS suddenly having a change of heart and copy pasting ALL exclusive stuff to ALL races at once in one go and be it.
