Someone once said that if I wanted to immerse my self in the story I would not even play a girl being a male my self, and that is true... But seeing all these females dressed in this ridiculous clothes in game from begging to the end of the story, is disappointing...
But, this is just my opinion based in my personal experience, I understand the majority does not even care... or, actually likes it like this...
You should play Black Desert or Vindictus. Their cash shop prices are abhorrent.
Well, just as a point of order, BnS doesn't qualify for either of these two. Costumes are sets, are more expensive, and are sometimes in lootboxes or other RNG mechanics. That said, the one good thing -- although they're more expensive to buy -- you can buy tokens to send them to your alts, so they're essentially account-bound rather than character-bound (with a small fee). In the grand scheme of things, I think I would prefer this sort of thing in TERA (costumes are a bit more expensive, but there's a way to trade them with alts for a small fee), but it'd probably have a pretty major impact on the whole costume market that'd need to be carefully considered, and is a bit hard to change this late in the game.
BnS costumes tend to be entire sets, yeah (Costume/hat/backslot/face accessory) so they get more pricey that way, but the rare times they're sold as just the costume only it isnt usually too bad.
You can mail your costumes to alts using stamps which are very cheap which is something Tera absolutely never let you do no matter what which was always so much pressure. I hated that about Tera.
Another thing is that BnS costumes all fit every race and gender automatically. So everyone buys the exact same costume, it just looks different on each race/gender which is something Tera should have long gotten around to doing although I do understand that certain races have certain differences. but at the same time, half the costumes Tera has they completely ignore Castanic and Amani features anyway lmao so what does that even matter then.
A big difference though, probably the largest and most important to me is BnS gives players free costumes all the time. Through events they get at least one new one every month for doing their current event and then every big patch (which is about once every 3 or 4 months or so) they give out codes that give out even more free costumes and a week of free premium membership.
Other than this weird calendar thing, I can't recall Tera giving out free permanent costumes anywhere near that often
I think a lot of MMOs, not just BnS, a lot of MMOs now have wisened up when it comes to costumes. Yes there will always be ones that are thrown into RNG boxes once every couple months, but at least in the meantime they give you so many others to choose from that it's hard to be too mad about the ones that do wind up being RNG.
Tera is very stuck in its old ways. It could benefit way more from letting costumes fit all races and letting people reuse costumes and alts and things but at this point I don't believe they'll ever change.
And for f**k's sake, don't charge upwards of 5k EMP for one, single item. That's f**king $50USD - even g**damn Activision Blizzard hasn't resorted to those kind of price hikes (...yet). Drop a bundle and/or make it account-bound if you want that much for it.
This is just conjecture, but I think part of it is that every time EME does something like this, someone on the forums flips out about the market crashing. Look up this year's summer event about tokens being "nerfed" if you want the most recent s**tshow.
