People spend money in whatever they like, that's a foolish commentary. Well-worth money for someone is wasted money for another person. Coming from someone who is completely f2p.
1 - Cuz until not long ago, Tera was the ONLY action combat mmo;
2 - In the past 2 years, proxy made this game PERFECTLY playable pve wise on ~180 ms ?
Well, i'm not active in this game anymore, but lemme tell my history on Tera from 2015- early 2018.
I got perma 170 ms +, it was never been a issue till i got in endgame by late 2015/FIHM patch, i was a gunner main back then and i remember how much my dps was lower than NA gunners, i tried macros for burst fire but in the end i could not perform various advanced combos cuz garbage ping.
Ok, then i rerolled to slayer cuz i thought it was less ping reliant and oh boy, on SSHM i was being carried with a garbage ~600 K/s dps and getting killed a lot cuz desync thru boss. I remember that DFHM tree, like half of times i was getting killed inside the tree, that was how "Tera was meant to be played on the legit way" hahaha!!
Then, i gave one last chance for Tera and rerolled a sorc on late 2016 cuz it was strong and even less ping reliant (ranged, warp barrier, some built in skill queuing), my dps was a LOT better, i cleared RMHM 97 times but i was getting tired from all the delay on some iframe/movement skill and tbh i never liked sorc (i was just playing cuz ping...), by late 2016 i just gave up on Tera.
Then back in 2017 someone released proxy and i gave a try and omg, i could main warrior that was a class that i ALWAYS wanted and, aside from some ghosting, i could be good at it and deal like 80-90% of the dps of a low ping pro warrior. The game was WAY more enjoyable to me and only cuz proxy i returned and stayed till early 2018 when i just gave up on all this new grindy content.
By this time i NEVER EVER exploited anything, i always disabled skill prediction on PVP.
Anyway, it's so hard for some low-ping NA and EU players to even grasp how overseas ppl play this game and that they also want to have fun.
Nowadays if i wanted i could play on a local BDO server with 5-10 ms ping, for me is just plain dumb to start Tera from scratch on EU, play with the exact same or worse problem and reliance on 3PA and be called a cheater.
No other game had the same BGs and cute Elins for me to play that, so that's the game I went to play, and it's combat mechanics are fun.
You make it sound as if I'm torturing myself and making myself as an idiot for playing it because of all the 3rd party deal but no, sorry, I never used any of those tools and always played fine enough on my 180ms ping on average, while knowing that I can't go as high DPS as the top tier players.
The deal is just that the extremely loud minority of the playerbase that claims those tools are essential to play and "you can barely start the game without" and "vast majority users" are just spewing entitled BS, sorry if it offends but it's as simple as that. I never used those nor any of the people I know that played this game with me here in this very same country.
Nor did any of us need weird tweaks to keep us from jamming up the entire game every hour or so logged, so even the whole memory leak problem was absent, even on lower end PCs than mine (and heck mine isn't all that).
I do not deny any of those issues. I don't say that my case is the most common of all. But this entitlement of this loud vocal minority is just stupid. Stop making it seem as if anyone that just normally has their fun without any 3rd party or mod is non-existent or stupid casual.
I predict the population hit from this 3rd party takedown will be the exact same BS as it was on the so called 3rd party witch hunt from last year or 2016 when was it... It's the same crap all over again and as always, the loud as heck minority that says everyone uses that will make it seem as if the game will shut down for good when they stop playing. But.... Yeah it will be the same downwards sawtooth graphic on the population from each new patch.

It's avaliable now, not when me and pretty much any SA player that i knew started Tera years ago.
That's why i think it's just dumb for most SA players to switch to EU at this point , play with 200 ms+, use third party stuff, beign called a "cheater" and endure all that crap again..
Tera is not that good...
Nowadays, for anyone without a local Tera server and really high ping (150 ms+) on NA: Just quit Tera or wait for miraculous built in skill predictor, it's simple
Now here's the thing. Ever since hurricane Maria blasted through here more than a year ago, my main cable ISP has been unable to repair the lines. Been playing using cell phone net and here's the shocker. I don't have too much ping issues with it. As a casual who doesn't go bother veterans at their natural habitats (meaning, "end game" dungeons), 60-80 ping is not a bad thing to have. Even 100-120 is somewhat manageable.
Anyway. I have never played this game as a tryhard and even less in pvp. After age and all it comes with caught up with me, I decided to tell anyone asking about it that I suck at all forms of gaming and play solo with zero friends, not bothering anyone at all. I do miss having friends to at least chat with, though but I'm already used to it. In recent routine, I log in once in awhile to see what's up but don't really play this game anymore (and as for now, the other EME game I played, Kritika, remains uninstalled for the time being with no plans for me to return as far as I know, but I won't fully close the door there). I'm currently getting a character up to level 44 just for the pet granted by that level, and after that I doubt I'll even get it to anything higher. I'm doing something similar in BnS and once in a blue moon I check what's going on in Warframe and GW2. Play a bit, then leave.
The real reason I'm not playing more often is lack of interesting things for a casual loser like me to do around here (also why I stopped posting in these forums). Entering 3 dungeons every day once or more times and doing IoD ad nauseum is not the meaning of fun to me (and I also realized I'm not healthy enough to process all that needs to be done as quickly as needed in end game, so I usually end up with a huge headache after a go or two). At least BnS adds a giant piece of continent every few months as part of their still ongoing main story (the last added city is simply beautiful), which also happens to hand you a bunch of items and a decently powerful weapon you can use to do ALL previous dungeons since they never remove any of those.
Just today I soloed a dungeon in that game that was one of the previous super end game dungeons from a year before, rage timers and all that included. It was kind of fun and most important, a sight I never got to see before, so for me, it counts as something totally new. After that, I logged in Tera and deleted a few characters, then logged off. Maye Tera does have more stuff for me to do. I haven't been too bothered to check because the current presentation does not foster a desire in me to be interested for long. But maybe I'll find a spark to play again for more than two hours a month.
I played EU for a year, but i came to NA TERA 3 years ago because NA had more events , more people , more pvp.
Now i guess they changed their roles. I don't go EU because i have all in NA ( gear , costumes i collected over the years , etc).
But i still think that this game need to listen more to people and maybe do a better optimisation
obviously the game cannot run if there is no one who is willing to spend money on it. Don't be ridiculous.
Southerners cant afford pay to play some games bcz the huge economy deal is a daily problem.
We love the game so we are here. Read and writing on this forum.

The real question will be for the hardcores. Foreing players keep your game economy running. You can get a parties faster thanks to people outiside usa.
Without proxy outside hardcores that filled your looking for group wont be avalaible again.
I never used proxy i am ok with my 120 100.
People can still playing the game. But wont be easy to get pvp grounds or op dugens parties like before
It makes me laugh when people say "games with local services". Nobody gives a flying [filtered] about south-america. Nobody. No gaming company, no first world service gives a crap. Even if we have the money and will to pay and play, nothing arrives here. So we do not really have any choice on the matter. We are forced to play in NA or EU with 225ms and that's a good day for me. Still I was able to do SS and RR without dying and actually saving the tank [filtered] because he keep dying so I had to tank in a DPS berserker so the healer could revive him.
I get those 225ms with pingzapper btw. Without help I cant even pop evade on time without game breaking lag. And that's for every single online game I play. So, is there a difference for me being in TERA NA or EU or Aion, B&S, ESO, or anything else for the matter? No. So the only variable left for me is what kind of game I like the most, and Tera wins that spot, regardless of how [filtered] the publisher and developer are.
Moved to EU btw, same ping but in my legion there are 30 people online at any time.
