Special characters in our names is too much to ask?

Yeah, not being able to use caps or - , ' |, if EU has it why not us? well, we are talking about mEME but still, is the easiest thing to change, lots of people will be happy cause that means more names
edit: and why not numbers too?

    well, 2 dots can be used in na, and that's not a thing in eu, so you can name your character A.B.C while in eu it can only be A.B
    and ofc tera na doesn't need more names, if no-one uses them since they are playing in eu, so...

    You also can't use open spaces, despite there being a few NPCs in the game that have their names such.

    You can use spaces on Guild Wars... a 2005 MMO. I don't really like the dots, they [filtered] me off for some reason.

    I think one of the reasons was they were trying to avoid people making names that would look annoying and be hard to type like =+*Kirito'x'Asuna*420*+=, and also avoiding extended characters (like accents) that aren't easy to type on US keyboards. But, still, there's probably a compromise here that's a bit more open than what we have now... if they're willing to consider it.

    This I'm pretty sure is related to how our names are dealt on the server, but NPCs are just rendered in-game regardless of our server anyway.

    Still annoying of course. The extra dots are helpful when creating names with 3 or more parts, like I have a gunner named Daughter.Of.Elleon, or a brawler named Nerf.The.Brewlars none of those come close to Panties.Stealer tho

    will send a whisper to the person called "random" with the following text
    "name test text"

    or will send to "random name" the following text:
    "test text"

    Isn't it just the font we're using that doesn't display non-Latin characters? Pretty sure we've found in the past that UTF-8 characters worked if not for the font in the client.

    The restrictions are more because they wanted to make it easier for people with English keyboards to type, and because of the above chat issue with spaces (which obviously there is a way to solve, but is a bit ambiguous).

    I mean the entire system is dumb to the point that I had to name change via support Elin.Complex because it triggered URL filtering.
    It let me create the name, and then when I was inspected or such, it wouldn't work, nor could I link stuff on chat because of that
