It is sad that us players are still asking for a male class. What do we have to do to get it?

In older threads about this topic it was implied at some point that this might be because the amount of money from female-locked items was higher AND because of the initial reaction from the JP market to the said items, since, according to BHS, the japanese market registered a high volume of sales in elin cosmetics, enough to ease the process of entering the F2P model.

Essetially it seems the rest of the regions got this whole gender locked thing shoved down out throats solely because it was -is- a sucess in other country.

Idea. this most likely won't happen. But what if eme did a contest like they did for the costume's. Except for new Class idea's.
Even if Blue hole doesn't run with it. It would at least show that players are in fact interested in male classes.

People only crying about this now? Are you for real?

Until then elin scrubs and casta female frizzies get over their sexual needs we won't have a male class. Simple as that. They're retardedly popular but I'm not surprised Americans for you.

Support what you asking with your wallet - show them a sign that people caring male class with raise the male costume selling - this a simple way to let a business pay attention on what you WANT.

That's a start, but buying more male costumes isn't enough, we would need to also stop or reduce the sales of female cosmetics items to really make an impact... and then we might need to achieve the same in the asian market, which sounds unlikely.

I'm a girl. I like elins. I have an elin. But I don't want to be forced to play an elin half or more of the new classes.

Male characters are ugly and boring.

    I'll still whine about it.
While I know getting male only classes is too far of a stretch (because you dont know a market for males if you refuse to allow a market to exist), they need to start with costumes. Male only trends. More dyeable male costumes. Etc. And people need to SHOW their support and need for male interests in the game with money.
I'm more than willing to drop 200$ on that.
  • I can think of two viable ways to get new male classes.

    1. You can develop your own game with male classes
    2. You can offer to pay BHS whatever it costs to create a male class

Otherwise I think BHS is just going to continue to operate under the assumption that female classes will always be more popular and generate more revenue. And in spite of the fact that I, and many other players, would like to see more male classes, I don't entirely disagree with their premise. I think we have to accept the fact that people who play male classes are a minority. You could argue that people only play females because we're forced to (and that is a valid argument), but even when you look at legacy classes, there seem to be an abundance of females, particularly elins. I mean, my main is a human male archer. I don't think I've ever seen another human male archer in game. Seen plenty of elin archers, female castanic archers, even a couple popori archers... though popori themselves are about as rare as Barakas and even more rare than femanis. I just think we're outnumbered on this particular subject. Of course, I think if BHS released a new class that was locked to any male, popori, Baraka, or femani, you would see a sudden flood of people playing those characters, because ultimately most players prioritize "shiny new class" over race and gender anyway.

Sorry, it's not that I disagree with your plea, I 100% support lifting both race and gender requirements on the new classes, and I'm not defending BHS's decisions, even though they may make "business sense" based on their metrics. I'm just not going to hold out hope that they will suddenly change their minds and their business model, considering that their main focus for the past couple of years has been on females and elins in particular. They've pretty much said outright that they don't have the time or resources to create classes for all races and genders, and that they are going to continue to focus on what primarily brings in revenue for them, which in this case is females. It is what it is. Although for the record, if anyone at BHS cares enough to hear feedback from the NA community, I for one would vote for the option to be able to play as a male (though I'm fairly certain that petitions aren't allowed here on the forums).

@WolfieYu yes I'm straight...? And I don't mind playing elin-only characters, but I don't look at elins "in that way"... is there something wrong with that? Also is there something inherently wrong with a straight man wanting to occasionally play as a male character? Or are straight men always supposed to have our minds in the gutter? I'm into RP, but not necessarily [filtered].. I have a real life girlfriend for that...

EDIT: LOL the forum filtered out the term for "naughty" role play

    It's definitely an idea

I just want some sort of answer to what we can do
  • NopiNopi ✭✭✭✭✭
Well, the ideas were laid out, but really only a minority will do it. I myself want to start a male character but since I already have all classes and even some repeats, all at 65, not sure what to make a male of. Still, I would like male characters playing new classes, and I'd like to see more variety of races/genders running around. Elins are cute, but gets boring after running past the 67632578216576th cat eared little girl. >.<
