Is this white loading screen normal?

Hi guys.. I just upgraded my video card from 960 GTX to a 1070 TI and for some reason i am noticing a white blank screen on startup.

Here is a youtube link

Is this normal? I dont recall it happening on my 960 GTX.

The white screen isn't abnormal. I get it too, but for less than one second.

It happens sometimes on my side. it's now more common to see after EME removed Xigncode. Means that sometimes the game's presentation screens (which is what should be covering that) load slower than normal, which in itself is nothing to really worry about. Maybe the game is started while the OS is doing some other background activity and it's caught off guard. That's what I can assume.

I get it all the time
  • Yes, get it too. Sometimes it last longer than expected like 10s or more. Sometimes it's like 2-3 sec...so who knows. I have yet to bother to verify what's the cause, not worth the effort.
  • As another piece of data, I'm still on a GTX 970 here, and don't see a white screen (as you noted you never saw with a 960). So I wonder if maybe it has something to do with the 10-series and/or drivers.

I run a 1080 , have done for ages and prior to xing I never had it , since I have it and time its displayed varies
  • After reinstalling Tera, I noticed this happening to me as well. It stopped happening when I set the game to windowed (borderless) instead of full screen. Kind of strange.

I used to see this screen on my previous computers, one a laptop with a gtx460M and the other a gtx 680 desktop. Now I have it mostly showing on my 1080 desktop but I don't see it too often on my 1060 laptop.
  • So yeah guys.. I just swapped out the 1070 GTX TI for the same brand one just a different card and I only have a 1/2 a second gray screen now. The new card seems to have fixed the long 15 sec white screen. Thanks

Did you reinstall drivers or just swapped?

I get a black screen at that point sometimes. How long it lasts seems to depend on how sluggish in general my computer is feeling on any given day.
  • nevermind guys... The problem resurfaced on another 1070 GTX TI... Seems it's an issue with a certain series of GPUs and the loading screen of Tera.. Oh well. I thought the problem was solved but after a few hours the issue came back.. When i first inserted the Video Card into my System only had 1/2 a second gray screen.. Now i'm getting a 10 second white screen again.. It was just a matter of time... Sux but oh well
