Yeah the same people yelling the event was lousy and they wouldn't bother with it.

I asked for the permanent snowflake bomb, enjoyed the event, and got lots of snowflake bombs. Also got the perm one (Snowflake Flurry), but obviously not from the event. It was sad to see people were trying to sell the footsteps. Gave away some steps, transparent masks, and hidden weapon sheaths after I got what I needed for my characters.

Only none of the people who wanted them complained over the event? I know several people who wanted them and ended up with stacks of them. The event wasn't lousy at all , compared to their halloween and easter one this year I'd say they did amazing.

It was a nice event, but they seriously gotta work on their "random" snowmen spawning code. I still think it would be better if they'd just have non-tradable items in the loot table for these things. The gold farmers once again kind of ruined it for the rest of the players trying to find things for alts. There are so many ways now to farm gold that they don't really need it for searching events like this. Every place where the santas were spawning decent was packed with players, and it was only a few areas on the map. I couldn't really go anywhere where I didn't see four or more people hunting in the same area. Just another reason why untradable items along with a higher spawn rate would have been amazing. If you don't have alts to farm for, you're obviously in better gear and can get the rewards from dungeons and the other events going on. IMO things like santa hunting should be available for lower geared or new players that just want prizes rather than gold and keep the gold farmers in dungeons or other events.

Of course, all of the gold farmers are going to cry about my post, but it's really sad when you guys are all over the place hunting this stuff away in frostmetal and stormcry gear. Then, you're all over global begging people to buy your hidden weapon sheaths and such. It's just sad seeing you guys running around all over trying so hard to beat out new players and little kids out of footsteps. The hidden weapon sheaths were nice, but if the santa versions of everything were not tradable, people could work on getting things for their accounts rather than just gold farming to beat others out of stuff. Sure it's nice that some people were giving away footsteps, but at the same time, those people were all over the map like hungry dogs killing santas like crazy. They raked it in and ruined the event for a lot of people. If all of the items weren't sellable, the gold farmers would have ignored the santas; leaving them for other players to find and get rewards from. Not only that, but then, the loot table could have had way more cosmetics and fun prizes to win rather than talents, plates and all of that other stuff that had absolutely NOTHING to do with Christmas.

Just saw the loot table for the golden beetles and just wanna say THANK YOU! The only thing sellable are gold and silver talents and everything else isn't what gold farmers would bother with. So happy, because this means I might have a chance at getting the footsteps for all of my alts. Seriously hoping the farming rate is better for these. I really love hunting, but it gets extremely stressful when there are so many other players around hunting, and we're racing to the orange dots to beat the other person. That's why I really went out of my way to go to areas that weren't crawling with people, but unfortunately, those areas weren't spawning anything either. Oh well, at least the beetles might be fun.

I guess I am one of those "Gold Farmers" then because every Weapon sheath I got I ended up selling. I don't need them and don't want them so I got rid of them. I was hunting foot steps and snow bombs but ended up with darics, talents, one hidden mask that I kept, and five hidden weapon sheaths.
  • The fun part is getting something worth to sell. That has become less and less so no fun for me

I think that most of the players including myself were actually looking for the Footsteps ( especially Icemaker Footsteps ) which are not tradeable.

And it will be pretty tough to get anything from the Beetles considering that it is only 48hrs spawn.. And we will have ever so many players hunting them.
  • The footsteps from Fat Santa and Box were not trade-able

I hunted with several people in 1 location just because I knew they can't cover every single area.
With the chance with santas spawning right after they leave too was high as well.

I was hunting for santas for footsteps and snowflake bombs for my main,
got them and helped my friend and some guild members get them afterwards.

If most of the players you know were looking for the untradable footsteps, then it pretty much proves my point that getting rid of the sellable items would be a good trade off for more cosmetics and a higher spawn rate.

We had a lot of people that didn't want the footsteps, but they were still hunting. There were really a lot of people farming the sheaths and such.

Maybe they could do it where the untradable stuff is in one thing and the sellable stuff is in another. That way, there could be a higher spawn rate for the untradable stuff while the people looking for stuff to sell could just look for their minion to kill. Say a gold beetle with stuff to sell in it and a brown beetle with untradable stuff. The brown beetles could spawn more and gold farmers wouldn't waste their time killing them, because everything would be unsellable. However, they could still look for the gold beetles with a big payout.

I have searched for three hours on different channels/regions from roughly 9AM EST up to 12AM EST and i was able to get the amazing number of only six beetles.

Sadly.. It seems that it is actually better just to AFK while fishing and get the 8hrs footsteps.

    Well played.
  • I agree to that, I love hunting but not to the extent of having something be so rare it's not worth to even hunt.
I only wanted footsteps for my 2nd main :C

  • Plenty of them on the TB
  • After a long while got them, time to eat some junk food for the countdown of the New Year!

It seems silly to make the beetles super rare when there was an abundance of santas and blue boxes (with better loot tables!) only a week ago.
  • The beetle hunting was annoying because of the small dot being very easy to miss in areas with lots of enemies. The spread seemed to be better though as every area I visited I eventually found a beetle or two per channel. Ended up getting enough for my characters though through The BG, afk, and 3 from beetles :)

I just don't get how they make the snowmen footsteps that everyone wants untradable, but the new year footsteps that not many want is tradable. It's like they do this stuff just to annoy people. The colorful steps that make people happy are rare, but the dreary footsteps that make people mad are all over the place. I didn't realize the dot on the compass for the beetles was so small, so I didn't even see one beetle. Again, just another thing to annoy people. Maybe they just want to make it so people kind of get fedup with the whole thing. Many of us that were hunting right away gave up after a few hours, because it just got to be so silly. Almost better off just sticking with Legions and not wasting my time on events.
