  • I agree wholeheartedly with this. There is too much focus on PvP events for many rewards on the PvE server, when many of us joined the PvE server because we are PvE players who have no interest at all in PvP gaming. All of the battleground and whatever type events give a lot of rewards, but it would be nice if we could have more PvE events on the PvE server, especially since it is... well.. you know... a PvE server!
  • I’d say Tera is pvp game on PC, as there are no difficult dungeons in near future.

You had Santa hunting and snowball games, which seems to me as satisfying enough, according to forum, lol.

I would say, that it doesn’t matter of the server, just make new difficult and interesting content for all, that is what needed. But there’s nothing more interesting and difficult can be created, rather then fighting other players, as it’s the most challenging in any game. Just think of it as a part of pve, that you are fighting very clever adds^^
  • Temporary events like the Santa hunting are a lot of fun, but they are not a permanent part of the game, and they do not give the same rewards as the PvP events that are on the PvE server. The OP is asking for PvE events to be added to the PvE server that are permanent and that give the same rewards as the PvP events.
  • Well, did u read what I wrote? There could be nothing more fascinating or interesting, in terms of gameplay mechanics, and ai, then fighting other players. So basically, events like Santa’s are ur only option then. World Boss rally, and battle for Velikas as well. Btw, no one said it’s permanent rewards in BG’s, and also we did not have any BG’s for several months doing simply dng’s. So I don’t see what is that you need.

On pc, they had events such as some dng bosses attacked Velika, and players protected it. It could be fun, but not permanent

Nobody joins PVE servers to pvp, Both of your comments are opinions and they don't address anything about the topic.

Battlegrounds are available all the time, None of the PvE events are around all the time.

There is a reason players join PvE servers, And that is because We don't like PvP. It's not fair to get shafted out of activities just because of the server we pick.

As a side note, I apologize If I came across as confrontational, Its not intended that way.
  • That is why game dies in pc and will also die here. Cuz pvp is crucial part of any mmo, and if it would been forced, like they do now with BG’s, it’s much fun. Why u don’t like pvp? Can u answer? Not just don’t like, but exactly? I can understand ppl not having fun due to lags, but here around 80% has lags, so it’s quite fair.

So why ppl do not like pvp, as you say (although I strongly disagree, as I can see good MMO’s are always about 60% pvp, 30 % PvE and 10% trading. That is formula of success for any mmo!

PVP is not a crucial part of an MMORPG. Never have been. It's an alternative to PVE.

60% PVP? No no no NO.. Good MMOs have more PVE content than PVP content. You think World of Warcraft would be as successful as it is with your formula? I think not. I've played MMORPGs since Meridian59 and PVP oriented MMORPGs never last that long compared to PVE oriented MMORPGs. The ones that do last long does so because of the business model. F2P, where the credit card warriors aka whales keep the game running.

Not everyone likes open world PVP or PVP in general, and that's why good MMORPGs are more PVE oriented (as well as subscription based i might add), and maintain a healthy player population. Not a lot of them left out there though sadly, which is why most people mention World of Warcraft since it has been able to maintain such a huge playerbase for 15 years, albeit a bit fluctuating.

In the EU region we don't even have a PVP server for the Xbox, so we don't even have a choice in terms of server selections.
  • Cuz Xbox is kind of dead platform currently. The only difference now between pvp and pve server is an outlaw skill, which actually is not used anywhere except World Boss rally occasionally. You can’t kill anyone below 65 and in safe places, such as cities, dng teleport zones etc. so basically it would be nice if they’ve merged servers with this skill available. It won’t heart pve players as it is now.

If they gave people on the Xbox One PVE server more incentives to actually bother playing, the population wouldn't be so low. The only incentives they give us now is in the form adding more useless stuff to the cash shop that we can waste our money on.
  • Well I see they are making steps go high end players (imho), by developing BG’s. Hopefully they’ll add Harrowhold, VSHM and Battle for Velika soon. But you see, Tera is all about pvp at high end and everyone, including current dev and publisher teams, as well as players have to accept it. So those cries for more easy solo pve farm are just making them focus on wrong. That what’s killing Tera on PC. Just admit it as PvP game with kinda interesting PvE and develop it accordingly, and much more will come. We have few ppl in PvP servers not because there are more willing to pve, but cuz tgey’ve Ignored bugs and lags at mass pvp for far too long so ppl left. Like gridiron, it still has 90% lag ratio, although I personally have no such issues, but like literally all my guild says it’s “lagodrome”.

Now they are making steps forward to reduce lags, by, for example, reducing the distance of drawing in World Boss “Rally” locations. Actually I think the issue here came similar from PC, as the engine of the game was designed poorly. So as we only talk to EME, and they are our bridge to devs, it’s their responsibility to force changes, actually required for the game, such as rewriting the engine.

Basic example: it takes 30 mins to hour for patch to install. Destiny (MMORPGFPS) had same issues at start and it took like over a year to admit that their engine was designed bad. But when they did and worked on that, they had to spend a lot of money, time and Human Resources, true, but they made it up to date, with modular base, so they could movement fixes, without rewriting the full game, as it is currently made in Tera. That is why we can’t get fast fixes.

But it’s not just that, the way engine is operating resources of PS4 Is not correctly implemented either. We ain’t got 1 very strong core, but the idea is to use multicore to obtains best and most efficient experience. But Tera port is similar to PC, using main core, that is why it heats up any lags, and doing stuff like reducing the distance of drawing etc. is like trying to fix holes in sinking boat with a glue. It will help, but not an actual solution.

So we, players, can only hope that EME will force those changes, while BH can actually think of doing smth except for PUBG at this time.

Wow.. Where to start.. This wall of unintelligent writing is just mind blowing.

1: TERA has always been about both aspects, PVE and PVP, and there have never been more focus on PVP over PVE.

2: No, TERA is not a PVP oriented MMORPG. It never was. It has a unique political system and it has open world PVP on PVP servers (Max level) but that's it. It has more PVE content than PVP content, but the heart of the matter here is that PVE players get shafted in terms of events and rewards. Have you ever played World of Warcraft? I mean, i don't even know if you own a PC, but in World of Warcraft, you've got the same thing with PVP and PVE servers. It's nothing new really in MMORPGs. There is also a reason as to why certain MMORPGs have PVP servers and PVE servers and the reason is that they want to cater to everyone's play style. Not everyone likes open world PVP aka gank fests, and not everyone likes the peaceful settings of a PVE server.

However, TERA is the most generous of the two because you cannot attack anyone until you reach max level. In World of Warcraft or other games like it, you can kill anyone, at any level on PVP servers. On PVE servers you can also flag yourself for PVP as an added option in World of Warcraft.

3: You can't compare an online multiplayer FPS title to an actual MMORPG. It just shows how little you know and how little grasp you have on the subject. You even have the genre wrong for Destiny. It's an Online Multiplayer Shared World FPS where you get disconnected from the social hub if it reaches its player cap of 20 players. Yes, that's massive /sarcasm. Also, they used their own engine, an in-house engine, not a 3rd party licensed engine.

4: No matter the change in code, it is limited to the engine and the engine being used for TERA is the most unoptimized game engine Epic has ever released. They also can't make changes to the engine itself because they use a licensed version of it. What they should and can do is to upgrade to the latest Unreal Engine or cut a deal with Amazon and use Amazon Lumberyard engine. Sadly that will never happen and EME = subsidiary of Bluehole and they are not able to 'force' any changes whatsoever. Bluehole is in charge, EME are their lapdogs.
  • Still no one says why they don’t like pvp tho. Interesting.

I was talking of destiny as not comparisons of game, but the developers approach. Yeah, they need to do smth with optimization and possibly change engine. But they can’t be bothered atm. That was my main idea, that the focus must lie there, not in creating small events.

The most recent pvp event was the 3x bg drops on Christmas. Before that there was the corsairs cosmetic event that came out with the release of cs. I can't really think of any other pvp events that have occured. If you are referring to the "jackpot rewards" those are there to give incentive for people to play bgs. It's not an event, it's essentially dungeon rewards for the winning team. If you're reffering to the additional rewards given from the daily quests for bgs as an event then you are misinformed. The additional rewards we're placed there to give pvp player battleground and killing spree credits that were abruptly removed. It's not an eventful but a "fix".

If there are any actual pvp events that I've forgotten about please post them.

Also: I think that dungeon events would be fun and useful. Something along the lines of 2x dungeon rewards, another additive drop event, bonus feedstock for completing a dungeon, or an event that drops a limited time cosmetic from killing/completing bosses/dungeons.

After reading your post, I see that I used the term "events" incorrectly for a video game. I was mainly referring to the Battlegrounds, where PvP players can get plenty of rewards on the PvE server, which are not available to PvE players who do not want to participate in PvP "things" (or events, or Battlegrounds, or whatever term is appropriate). I would like to see permanent "things" for the PvE players to enjoy, which give the same rewards as the Battlegrounds. I did specifically mention "battlegrounds" in my first post in this thread, but I did not use that word later. On the plus side, you mentioned wanting 2x dungeon rewards, and they announced that there will be a 2X chance of dungeon drops, this coming weekend. I am looking forward to that! :)

As of right now, everything in the PVP credits shop is available in PVE. All items are available from PVP and PVE excluding PVP jewelry, which should not matter to those who have no interest in PVP.
