Still alive! It's been a pretty hectic few days, there's a lot to catch up on in as short a time as possible. I'll be unsticking this thread at this point, feel free to shoot me a PM directly for anything else related to this thread (or if you have random questions about me!)
I didn't even notice this thread till now. Welcome to Tera and EME and everything else.
My best advice is don't take anything personally (here or if you dare to play dungeons). No doubt there is already a test server, but most of us understand that sometimes, things slip through the cracks. Eventually, people calm down and everything gets back to how it was. Lots of people came on for the Easter event, so that was good.
No need to respond. Just wanted to add a welcome since I missed this thread earlier.
Just to chime in on this, but you have to agree that a rollback was the only solution. If you were really playing during that time, you would have seen global all lit up about the issues. All it took was a look at the broker to realize something really bad was going on. If they had not done a rollback, the economy would be completely ruined along with the game. I get that you lost time, but there was really no other solution. You lost time, but you act like stuff is going somewhere. Nothing is now, so you have plenty of time to level up. This is really not a game to take so seriously. I get that you lost play time, but this game does a lot of maintenance during the day. If you only play during the day, it's going to hinder your play time. Unfortunately, the game can't be up 24/7 in order to fit your play time demand.
Next time, just ask global. Someone would have told you they moved the crates right away. Don't fret about the gold lost. You'll make it up down the road. I always do. Like when they do a strongbox event, and I have a stack of keys to sell. It will always work out eventually. It's not like this stuff is time limited, so take a breath and relax. It's really just a game.
I think the most important lesson from all of that was the lesson that staff should be watching global and broker activity right after large patches along with discord. If staff had actually been on the servers, they could have seen what was going on and shut the servers down right away to fix the problem. We'd much rather have down servers than a large rollback. Even if they had just gone on right after the patch release, they could have seen how high the sell back price was on the scrolls. Either way, lessons have been learned. We got a free gift and some other benefits.
The hype was killed in that roll back, if you played first day the servers were avaliable and compare how many people were leveling, runing dungeons, runing batlegrounds (their queve times), you would see that it was MUCH better than after the roll back. EME just killed the hype for that patch and lose a great amount of players that won't comeback again.
There are guilds that cant get back the guild activity they saw after first day (40-50 players at the same time on-line before roll-back) because the roll back halved their activity or hurt them even more (less than 20 active after roll-back). I don't see how people claim roll-back was the only solution when it actually killed the hype and made us lose a lot of active players who were mad for lossing time and make them uncertain when EME is going to act again on a handful of players whimp.
how are we going with news on this front @Tielwing as youve lost some elite paying players whilst others are still waiting on the out come of this ongoing ordeal that the roll back was meant to rectify but has still left a player base in limbo
Sorry, but where are you getting your numbers from? I'd like to see some proof rather than made-up counts. A lot of the activity was people making sure they came on after hearing about the exploits. You act like the game was made the day of the patch and the rollback ruined the game forever. Sorry, but your assumptions are simply false. I'd expect people to be upset about the rollback, but the only ones I'd expect to be this upset were the ones that made bank on the exploit and are sour at the loss of their millions. If a guild lost most of it's players after the rollback, no doubt that guild was sharing the exploit and their members were cashing in on it. Now, they've left over the loss of that extra gold. People were already mentioning a rollback the day of the patch. As soon as I knew what was going on, I got the f out of the game, because I knew they'd have to do something major. If y'all kept playing while completely ignoring global, well, that's life.
My only suggestion would be to send in a ticket just to see what they say.
Yes, it's time to let us sell our scrolls already. Come up with some kind of amount at least. No one is going to be happy about it, so just bite the stick and get it over already.
No one has brought proof that everyone made hundreds of millions of gold, we only saw a handful of people complaining about that and even less people showing off the gold they got from reset scrolls and you are making a lie trying to make that as if everyone got rich from them, however the only thing that is true is that people lost their time and will not comeback and some of us are Elite Susbribers, with Tier 10 on Tera Rewards and no compensation has been given to us accordingly. That's another reason why other people cancelled they Elite Account and others just simply left the game.
I will add to this, while non-elite with the lowest tier reward account got a compensation gettin elite on their hands for few days I don't get any benefits from it. I have an active elite account until the next year and for every point a non-elite low tier tera rewards lost in the roll back I lost 4.4 points, a compensation accordingly would be for me to get 8.8 (double from 4.4) points per exp obtained, not an useless thing they do that only gives me back less than 1 point per 4.4 that I lost in that roll back. How is that a good thing? How is that a solution? If anything EME just showed in our faces that they don't care for those spending money in their game at all.
But hey I got a compensation that is not worth at all and if I am not on-line those days to make use of it EME will only say "sorry you can't play the days I want you to play to get the compensation".
This decision wasn't made based on a "handful of people complaining." EME looked at the actual amount of gold generated in the economy to see how bad it actually was. They wouldn't have gone through all this massive headache and hassle for themselves and everyone if it was just "a handful of people." It was massive, pervasive, and completely screwed up the in-game economy ("economy-wrecking" as the thread-starting post says). That's why they went through the drastic step of doing a rollback even a day later, as a last resort. Originally when they thought it "wasn't that bad" they weren't going to do a rollback (based on public statements in Discord), but then the next day they realized how necessary it was.
If you want to discuss the compensation for Elite, that's one thing, but I think the way you continually misrepresent the truth about the situation is dishonest, particularly when you start accusing other people of lying when they're telling the truth.
That is what their roll back was for many people. Its like if you won in a casino and suddenly that bussiness tell you that they need to remove your gains and you need to risk your money again. They didnt solve the issue for those spending money they just went ahead and make a priority of gold in game that has no value at all and it will sink in the game anyway. And I doubt you have proofs to deny what I am saying here so the dishonest reaction is not mine.
I know there is no going back but EME hasnt done anything at all to compensate the loses for those in my situation at all. They already gave non-elite players with no tera rewards exp still 120% of exp gain (in a way it doesnt help much if they couldnt play those days) but for an Elite Suscriber with active account till 2020 and Tera Reward 10 the compensation means nothing. The Elite get stacked so I can use the compensation until next year and that is if I am still playing, so what is left? What are we getting as compensation? or this will continue to be "free users win and paying users f-off"?
You have the objective evidence of what happened to the in-game economy that day, the word of multiple staff members who explained their reason for the action taken (including this thread), and an accounting of the timeline for the decision that demonstrates the decision was made after a review of the situation. If you're going to demand as proof the actual raw numbers of gold that entered the market, it'd be pointless even if EME provided it because you already said "it will sink in the game anyway." So basically, no matter what the data said or how bad the in-game economic impact was, your argument is that it doesn't matter because you think your ~16 hours of time was more important than any of that. And the decision was already made that it wasn't.
If you feel your needs weren't met, you can send a support ticket, but I suspect the issue may otherwise be closed at this point.
I understand your point. In EME's defense, not many people have such long subscriptions. Maybe a ticket would be best. Elite is something EME can use for a promotion as well, so that is why they gave it out as compensation. They are a bit paranoid lately about losing EMP sales, which is why they no longer give out loot pets or purchasable cosmetics. Good luck and sorry for the time that you've lost. I'm sure you're not the only Elite player that was upset about the compensation.
Yes, I am salty becuase the time lost, not for the gold of the reset scrolls. And bitter because the solution was not thought for people in my situation. As you already said, the matter at hand is already closed, EME considered more important other aspects of the game over the real money issues from that desicion and I hope they wont screw it again.
I don't really care for those reset scrolls, they may turn them into strong boxes for all that I care.
