Name Selling

Are people actually going for this, knowing that the name might be no good after the merge?

It's against the forum rules to advertise here, and would be against the game rules if it were for real money. But name trading for gold is permitted. (Not really saying it should be... but it is.)

But to the original point... I assume the reason you're seeing this now is because these are people who've been hoarding the name on characters with low/no play time, so they know full well they will lose it with the merger. They're trying to sell it now so that someone with higher play time can hope to lock it in... but it's totally a gamble. I wouldn't play that game, personally... but I don't agree with buying/selling names in general, so...

advertisting name selling on forumns is already against the rules,
but what if they also make it against the rules to sell names inworld? then maybe that will stop the name hoarders

Yeaaaaaaaaaah just like how making it against the rules to sell gold is totally stopping those gold seller bots.

well thats because the gold selling for real money is done outside of the Tera game.
people go to outside websites to do those transactions, its hard to catch them
Also hard to catch because those spammers are using level 1 throwaway avatars.

i think its possible to make in-game selling names bannable and reportable
because there's record of the gold transactions trail, and their avatars are not throwaways
Also, it would benefit Enmasse to stop the name sellers because EME isnt able to tax the name sellers like how Enmasse tax the brokers sales.
  • Buying and selling domain names is an exciting adventure that for some seems to conjure up images of finding hidden pirate treasure or guessing the winning combination on the next Powerball. Stories abound of domains that were purchased for $8 dollars 15 years ago being sold today for millions. Of course, that leads the more adventurous of us to wonder, “How can I do that?” You can check PrizeLava.com For more information.

There are people selling names for real money, they even are doing auctions on those names. And those are being done on Discords that some player council players from TERA are members also.

You see, murdering is also against the law...

...Taking it less to the extreme, of course making it against ToS entirely WILL reduce it in proportion. How much it would reduce is another story (as noted from gold sellers). In the end, if it's on the ToS or not is just a matter of formality if it isn't enforced properly, as basically nothing is right now.

That is something that they have said can be reported and is a bannable offense, but YMMV...
