Conflate chest can be BiS next patch..

    I doubt it.
For robe it basically will be 906 defense vs 13 pvp defense (not counting one more stat line) and i think 13 pvp def is way better (even if you already have some). Do you have any info/formula on how base defense affects damage in pvp?

Conflate chest will have +12% PvP damage reduction (6% currently. Next patch the 6% from boots gets moved to it.)

Since +PvP defense suffers from diminishing returns, then having a mix of both +PvP defense and +PvP damage reduction should give the best results.

For example...if you have high PvP defense, then that +13 may only translate into +6% defense.

It's also why you can't trust most conflate vs Starfall tests, because if they are done naked, which so many tests are, then that +13 will result in a much higher % bonus than in many real world situations.

So basically, if you have a lot of +PvP defense (any PvP gear other than Conflate), then Conflate chest may be better for you. And keep in mind that the jewelry adds +11 more, thus causing even more diminishing returns.

But if you have Conflate weapon, and don't use indomitable zyrks, then Starfall will probably be better for you.

What Starfall gets, is the extra +6% Defense, the +13 PvP defense, and the extra roll (Damage reduction when knocked down?).

Conflate gets higher base defense, and +12% PvP damage reduction.

Honestly, we can't know for certain, until the changes are made to Conflate. But in the end, both are going to be good!
  • well all i know is that this whole issue causes a divide in the community among those who have run the numbers on paper and the others who just want to defend their starfall gear that they have worked tirelessly for. i feel like i hit like a tank with my conflate gear. using duels as a measure of effectiveness is weak scientific method. the place where this counts is battlegrounds, FWC and the like. in there, there are more things at play besides your gear. gear helps but you need healers and buffs and everything else that goes with it.

its very annoying when i know that i can take out a bunch of people and the healer on my team ignores me. but then when i go in with my guild's main healer its just a great time, i stick to him like glue and i rake in the kills.

can we all agree that being able to actually SEE the pvp gear stats on ur char sheet would be the most helpful thing for this situation? i'm sick of having to update a google sheet in order to calculate what the game might be doing behind the scenes with my gear with my stats.

No matter what the damage comparison turns out to be, Conflate always has that huge plus in not having to play the awakening game. In my situation, I know starfall is better. the issue for me is figuring out exactly how much better, and if it would be worth to subject myself to the +15 cancer slots.
  • exactly how i feel

Yeah, it is pretty ridiculous. I'm willing to bet that even most of the developers don't really grasp how things work.

Yeah I was originally going to get some starfall... then I burned 800k in failed attempts to go from 12-13 on the chest. Needless to say I had myself tested the next day because I got [filtered] raw.

Sorry for the necro first of all.

But i figure out the equation, with some help of chs and austin

first fact : The +pvp damage from Pristine griefing crystals is wrong, the tooltip says it is 4, but the real value is 2.

The damage modifier for flat pvp attack and defense equation is :-1:

    %damage Modifier = (1.32*PvP_Attack/(PvP_Attack+117)+1) x (150/(150+PvP_Defense))

Where PvP_Attack is your total PvP attack (gear +crystals) and PvP_defense is the total pvp defense from your opponent(gear+crystals)
