Archer Tips vs Warrior?

So I just got my awesome new Conflate weapon and got it +12, just need to get a little bit better rolls on it. Absolutely loving it, and destroying most classes except I'm having a lot of trouble 1v1ing warriors, Normally I would try to lay down a stunning trap and sit on it so that when I get backstabbed, they get stunned, and then i can close quarters into a RA back crit. But whenever I place traps, the warriors flee and send the smoke aggressor to eat up all of my traps. :(

Any tips , or pvp tips in general would be great :chuffed:

If you're fighting an a-stance warrior abusing Smoke Aggressor trap pop, then you're fighting an uncommon brand of warrior and you should:
    a) not sit traps against them
    b) walk off of your trap and stagger/kd them out of Smoke Aggressor to make them waste HP
    c) slow the Smoke Aggressor

The proper way to deal with warrior otherwise is to simply stay out of range of Backstab (15m, though can be performed ~17m) and try to predict its usage (it's a very easy skill to read) when coming into range. With long skill distance, several slows, Tenacity, and a couple iframes, archer is in very good shape for the Backstab baiting game. When Backstab is down and they try to approach, try to stagger them into kick from a distance (make sure you make proper use of Final Salvo reset) into Close Quarters to set up a combo. Warrior is properly equipped to deal with archer and vice-versa, but they're not too challenging as long as you don't let them touch you in the first place. All it takes is one whiff and a well-timed stagger to completely decimate one with a wombo combo.
  • Thanks for all of the tips Sawao. I'll definitely try to keep my distance from now on, I suppose I should definitely be glyphing penetrating arrow and radiant arrow for the extra range for pvp?? And can you elaborate on staggering them into a kick from a distance, I assume I should just try to use Final Salvo and then hope im close enough for close quarters combo setup?

Once again, thanks for all of your input its very appreciated, and yes since this brand of warrior is my brother, he is very keen at using anything he can to outplay me haha!

Stupid question, but do you have -20% stun duration from your earrings? That's like #1 most important thing vs warrior.
  • I need to double check. Im running the 3 cutter set 2 galleon. I'll check my earrings to see if they have stun reduction. Currently working on the pvp earrings and conflate gloves. Im currently in +9-12 dreadnaught armor with a +12 conflate bow. I can't believe I haven't even thought about checking my jewlery for stun reduction. Thanks Mobius!!

Also, I figured I would ask while I'm still here. Is there any updated PVP archer glyph guides anywhere? Or any brave seasoned pvp archer who wouldn't mind sharing their thoughts??

Do not waste the glyphs for range. And the first hit of Rapid Fire is what you use to stagger into kick.

Use tenacity to gain stun resist, and when the warrior backstabs you, you turn use rapid fire (1) to stagger, close quarters to stun, then (incendiary trap and) stunning trap into cheese combo (bb/backstep -> roa -> concussion trap, (filler, ) explosion trap, thunderbolt (if fast enough)).

Keep in mind your traps are invisible now, you can place your slow or incendiary trap to try to trick opposing warriors into thinking you placed your stun and get then to waste their smoke aggressor. Other than that it's kinda a struggle if the warrior commits to running away when they don't have their CDs up.

Im also a veteran PvP Archer and can share my thoughts in glyphs in a bit when I get home, but charge arrow range glyphs are only really worth it in duels vs other ranged classes, especially other archers.
  • thanks for the tips yall,

http://www.essentialmana.com/glyph-calc/#ar65:a1:d45:f2:g4:h24:j2:k2:m2:q2:r1:v12 There's the basic wombo combo glyph page for archers.

Stagger > Kick > Ranged Explosive trap > melee stun trap > breakaway bolt > RoA > ranged stun trap > thunderbolt into ranged explosive trap
