With all due respect, since you were once a fellow TERA player: Why you keep coming back to the forums if you quit long ago? Also, if Kamizuma were a gold seller, i assure you, he would be banned by now. This community do not like gold sellers, and report them as soon as they are spotted.
I honestly do not understand 2 things:
- Why people who quit keep coming back to the forums to spread negative comments or just to trash talk. If you quit, stay away, is none of your business what happens on a game you dropped off long ago.
- Why people keep saying TERA is P2W when is not. It has some P2W elements as many other games in the market right now, but are minuscule compared to the amount of free content the game has. And please, do not come at me with the argument of "Sell emp. Buy +15 weapon, win" That would be most foolish coming from you. Please read my very long reply on page 2, and you can trust me, i have played games that are truly P2W, so i know what I'm saying.
You my friend obviously didnt play smart thats why you are here angry as heck.
They release the content every region gets. They don't push P2W aspects on us to bring players back, if anything you would argue it would push players away. No one would P2W on a game they dislike or deem to be dead, as you're claiming it to be due to gender locking new classes.
This is a quality of life change, to make it easier to get back into a fight once you've died. You can choose to forgo them and use a fire, charm, nostrum and scroll the old fashioned way. The fact is if people are paying for elite, they want to see the same advantages given to them as are seen on other regions.
You can choose to swipe for them or spend the keys you've saved or bought during non-event periods; when they are cheaper, to horde for events like these. The choice is yours really. Either way, the benefit is that we have a lot of alkahest being poured into the economy to keep up with the demand we're seeing. Thus dropping the prices and making it easier for people who have been farming gold to purchase and enchant their gear. I don't see the con in this.
Confirming my above point. There was too little alkahest for the demand we had. We saw prices going up and up, because there wasn't enough to compete with the Feedstock event.
Every content patch we go into see's a shortage of enchanting materials, and events like these see the market drop to more affordable prices for casual players who farm gold but not a lot of it, like the amounts hardcore players can achieve.
You have to do the content in order to get the shiny gear you speak of. You need the materials to craft said gear, which comes from experiencing and playing the games content.
A game that has a goal of gearing in mind doesn't automatically make it P2W. A lot of games, particularly MMO's require you to gear and have gear as the goal/reward for clearing end game content. It's there as incentive to keep running dungeons. Why else would you go back once you've done them a handful of times? Fun alone isn't a strong motivator, they need something to strive for.
Whether people are purchasing EMP or using the keys they had on hand, there's no shame in supporting the developer and publisher by giving money. In the end the whole community benefits because prices are being dropped, making it easier for everyone to enchant.
Buffs from the premium items, especially now that the premium items are a thing, DIRT cheap in game they simply more convenient for Elite, especially now that the premium items are a thing.
Can you buy 1000s of strongbox keys and open boxes? Yes you have been able to for years.
What "content" are you blabbering about, TERA doesn't have content. They have old stuff you do, then they make a new or rehashed dungeon from time to time.
TERA is the best F2P model MMO I've seen if you think it's bad you can buy some keys go play some other F2P games and you'll see some real P2W.
Thank you for clarification.
So, we have this gem of a quote: Therefore, this definition's logic says that selling EMP and buying VM7 from another player is definitely not p2w, because the player selling the VM7 had to farm it.
So far so good, it's a decent definition of the meaning of p2w, won't argue with that.
But what about elite though? You know, the very first thing OP mentioned?
It's not p2w cause you can buy vouchers from other players? Really? So, why would a special, shop-only exclusive weapon (which is tradeable) be p2w??? I mean, you can buy it from other players, so it's just pay2advance!!
Just put a weapon that is superior to VM7 into the shop and make it tradeable. Not p2w at all, people can just buy it just like they buy Elite vouchers. Same thing, right? Both are exclusive to paying as the source.
What kind of twisted logic do YOU guys have defending elite, lol, it's so hilarious.
Oh wait, elite doesn't give an exclusive perks you can't get otherwise? I mean boosters etc are not anything extra just make it "faster" right? Ok then, put VM7 +15 instantly in the shop, there, nothing exclusive just "faster" to get it by swiping instantly.
The fact that people can farm VM7 is irrelevant since elite is not farmable to begin with, why is gear any different in regards to p2w status? I mean, even with the VM7 in the shop, it is still farmable, so no "exclusive gain".
Therefore, VM7+15 in shop is not p2w at all. If it is, then so is Elite. Deal with it.
I don't know why logic is such a hard concept for people to get. But please stfu with hypocrisy.
In simpler terms, before this patch I could make steady money running dungeons for feedstock and using my vanguard credits to sell mwa from mwa boxes. But now, I have to make my money relying on costume investments I made about a month ago, since feedstock is worthless and nobody's buying my mwa thanks to this dumb event that rewards people for swiping.
Well, not necessarily P2W in TERA's case. More like pay for convenience. Let's ignore the fact that F2P players can get elite benefits without spending IRL money (which is actually a massive point here) and move forward. F2P players can get most everything in game. Anything different is just cosmetic or convenience, for example the trio charms. It's convenient to just use those instead of regular charms bought by F2P players.
The amount of convenience gained through credit card swiping on TERA can be a bit OP, though. If you're rich, you have the power to get the latest VM gear the day it comes out, essentially. Not much can be done about that, however, as the economy is player driven and this is how we've set the norm.
I find it funny when people complain about other people who support the game that THEY are playing. Complete [filtered].
