    game is not p2w lol

Say's the gold seller. Then again I wonder how profitable that is nowadays.

Game is dead anyway, only a fool would play this game still. It's been P2W for a long time now.

With all due respect, since you were once a fellow TERA player: Why you keep coming back to the forums if you quit long ago? Also, if Kamizuma were a gold seller, i assure you, he would be banned by now. This community do not like gold sellers, and report them as soon as they are spotted.

I honestly do not understand 2 things:
    - Why people who quit keep coming back to the forums to spread negative comments or just to trash talk. If you quit, stay away, is none of your business what happens on a game you dropped off long ago.
    - Why people keep saying TERA is P2W when is not. It has some P2W elements as many other games in the market right now, but are minuscule compared to the amount of free content the game has. And please, do not come at me with the argument of "Sell emp. Buy +15 weapon, win" That would be most foolish coming from you. Please read my very long reply on page 2, and you can trust me, i have played games that are truly P2W, so i know what I'm saying.

eme keeps loosing player population on every patch a new op r^tarded female gender locked class comes.
A lot of people may not like the gender class locking and choose not to play, of this I am sure, given the amount of threads complaining about this very topic. However, more people come back to play than there are complainers. If this were false, Bluehole (now Nexon) would have changed this with the release of Ninja and the future release of Elin Witch.

They release the content every region gets. They don't push P2W aspects on us to bring players back, if anything you would argue it would push players away. No one would P2W on a game they dislike or deem to be dead, as you're claiming it to be due to gender locking new classes.

They added things like damage buffs and crit power that players can now just pop in infinitely...
This is a quality of life change, to make it easier to get back into a fight once you've died. You can choose to forgo them and use a fire, charm, nostrum and scroll the old fashioned way. The fact is if people are paying for elite, they want to see the same advantages given to them as are seen on other regions.

And instead of actually fixing the gameplay and actually making mwa more farmable, like it was atleast during those days where you could find those 30 mobs daily parties... bringing strongbox event that not only has ridiculous high chance of dropping jackpots with thousands of alkahests where p2w players on multiple occasions continue winning them on double and triple basis like its candy.
You can choose to swipe for them or spend the keys you've saved or bought during non-event periods; when they are cheaper, to horde for events like these. The choice is yours really. Either way, the benefit is that we have a lot of alkahest being poured into the economy to keep up with the demand we're seeing. Thus dropping the prices and making it easier for people who have been farming gold to purchase and enchant their gear. I don't see the con in this.

...while a typical day of pure grinding might get you just around 1800 vanguards credits and maybe just a little or over 150 mwa and half of that if your not elite.
Confirming my above point. There was too little alkahest for the demand we had. We saw prices going up and up, because there wasn't enough to compete with the Feedstock event.

Every content patch we go into see's a shortage of enchanting materials, and events like these see the market drop to more affordable prices for casual players who farm gold but not a lot of it, like the amounts hardcore players can achieve.

...tera since the day of its release has always been about grinding for that new shiny gear that comes out every 4-6 months and never actually about the content! Thats why its P2W cause the only true and main aspect of the game is getting and enchanting that new BiS gear, which pay2win players always have advantage over.
You have to do the content in order to get the shiny gear you speak of. You need the materials to craft said gear, which comes from experiencing and playing the games content.

A game that has a goal of gearing in mind doesn't automatically make it P2W. A lot of games, particularly MMO's require you to gear and have gear as the goal/reward for clearing end game content. It's there as incentive to keep running dungeons. Why else would you go back once you've done them a handful of times? Fun alone isn't a strong motivator, they need something to strive for.

Whether people are purchasing EMP or using the keys they had on hand, there's no shame in supporting the developer and publisher by giving money. In the end the whole community benefits because prices are being dropped, making it easier for everyone to enchant.
  • Come play some BnS with me pal, I'll show you actual P2W.

Buffs from the premium items, especially now that the premium items are a thing, DIRT cheap in game they simply more convenient for Elite, especially now that the premium items are a thing.
Can you buy 1000s of strongbox keys and open boxes? Yes you have been able to for years.
What "content" are you blabbering about, TERA doesn't have content. They have old stuff you do, then they make a new or rehashed dungeon from time to time.

TERA is the best F2P model MMO I've seen if you think it's bad you can buy some keys go play some other F2P games and you'll see some real P2W.

You white knights are outright hilariously contradicting yourselves without even realizing, that's the sad part. Give me your definition of p2w precisely, cause I'm tired of nonsense! Here, in this post I will show you just how dumb your so-called arguments are.

So, we have this gem of a quote:
    Yamazuki wrote: »
Selling the gear in the cash shop and having it bought from another player isn't the same. The first example could be pay to win, although the second isn't. Having someone who swipes buy these stuff off other people at least has a benefit to these players, who most likely don't spend much if at all themselves, that they're buying from. There's also the fact that the emp they sold to get the gold in the first place meant they sold costumes or various other desired cash shop items to people who again, spend little to nothing themselves. If it was sold directly to them then it would be completely different.
Therefore, this definition's logic says that selling EMP and buying VM7 from another player is definitely not p2w, because the player selling the VM7 had to farm it.

So far so good, it's a decent definition of the meaning of p2w, won't argue with that.

But what about elite though? You know, the very first thing OP mentioned?

It's not p2w cause you can buy vouchers from other players? Really? So, why would a special, shop-only exclusive weapon (which is tradeable) be p2w??? I mean, you can buy it from other players, so it's just pay2advance!!

Just put a weapon that is superior to VM7 into the shop and make it tradeable. Not p2w at all, people can just buy it just like they buy Elite vouchers. Same thing, right? Both are exclusive to paying as the source.

What kind of twisted logic do YOU guys have defending elite, lol, it's so hilarious.

Oh wait, elite doesn't give an exclusive perks you can't get otherwise? I mean boosters etc are not anything extra just make it "faster" right? Ok then, put VM7 +15 instantly in the shop, there, nothing exclusive just "faster" to get it by swiping instantly.

The fact that people can farm VM7 is irrelevant since elite is not farmable to begin with, why is gear any different in regards to p2w status? I mean, even with the VM7 in the shop, it is still farmable, so no "exclusive gain".

Therefore, VM7+15 in shop is not p2w at all. If it is, then so is Elite. Deal with it.

I don't know why logic is such a hard concept for people to get. But please stfu with hypocrisy.

Well, it depends on what this event does to the MWA market. Their recent feedstock event killed the price on feed. Can't really sell it anymore and make big bucks like I used to. That really just leaves MWA. And now that people are getting thousands like it's nothing, it's reasonable to assume that the price on it will dip as well. If that happens, then we can say with some degree of certainty that EME is making it harder for players to actually grind gold, since the avenues traditionally used (grinding vg cred for mwa boxes and then selling the mwa; grinding feedstock; gathering; crafting) have been rendered ineffective by recent changes. If the other ways to make gold become equally ineffective, then that forces players to choose between spending money to speed up that process (like buying an elite subscription and selling it for an easy 65-70k) or spending several weeks grinding devalued MWA.

In simpler terms, before this patch I could make steady money running dungeons for feedstock and using my vanguard credits to sell mwa from mwa boxes. But now, I have to make my money relying on costume investments I made about a month ago, since feedstock is worthless and nobody's buying my mwa thanks to this dumb event that rewards people for swiping.
  • Every online game is P2W depending on whether people want to break the ToS or not.
Well, not necessarily P2W in TERA's case. More like pay for convenience. Let's ignore the fact that F2P players can get elite benefits without spending IRL money (which is actually a massive point here) and move forward. F2P players can get most everything in game. Anything different is just cosmetic or convenience, for example the trio charms. It's convenient to just use those instead of regular charms bought by F2P players.
The amount of convenience gained through credit card swiping on TERA can be a bit OP, though. If you're rich, you have the power to get the latest VM gear the day it comes out, essentially. Not much can be done about that, however, as the economy is player driven and this is how we've set the norm.
  • @Rayleen you're forgetting though that some TERA players are in-game millionaires without ever swiping. Pretty sure they will have BiS +15 gear even before the whales. It's entirely possible to be TERA rich without ever spending a dime of real money on the game. I know this for a fact, and there are "TERA millionaires" on these forums who can easily testify to that. You don't have to be rich IRL to have +15 or elite status or millions of in game gold.

P2W : stuff on emp store is better than anything a normal player can get, even if he played 10000 hours, he will never be able to beat a player that spend some money. Tera would be pain p2w if the cashshop had vm8+15 while the highest avaible in game is vm7. Elite is not p2w. More dungeons entries- use reset scroll. Charms and scroll buy from merchant. Mounts you can buy with gold. Atlas use teleport scroll. Journal, walk. Gg scroll buy from merchant. Exp and gold boosters, play more time. Elite boxes buy the items that drop there from broker. All things elite gives a normal player can have, tera is not p2w.
  • I dont see the issue... People will always swipe in MMO's... It's not like there are any pieces of gear in cash shop. Sure you can get stuff faster with real money but, that doesn't mean getting gear is impossible.. It's as simple as this, stop being lazy.

I find it funny when people complain about other people who support the game that THEY are playing. Complete [filtered].
  • i don't know bout it being p2w, but i can say this, when it comes to the strongbox jackpot event i really don't understand how i can go through 50 boxes and not get a single jackpot and im seeing people getting two and three jackpots in a row, and i have elite status to boot, so p2w goes out the door there. Needless to say ill never spend real money on this game again, when my elite status runs out oh well
