This kind of grasping at straws argument, really?
What happened with pay2advance? Someone paying for his VM gear directly from the shop in no way hinders your ability to craft your own, it only hinders your ability to sell yours to them, which has nothing to do with p2w anyway.
Now. Is this game pay to win? Are games pay to win? by some logical dot connecting, we could say even a NES game back then is pay to win, because in order to win the game you have to play the game, and back then, in order to play the game you had to pay for the game, hence, pay to play to win, shortened to .. yeah, pay to win. That would make, by the logic of some opinions (not necessarily mine), that any game where a player pays for something, a pay to win game. So by those same opinions (again, not necesarily mine), any pay to play game, any console or PC game ever bought by someone, and any game where there's a money transaction, is pay to win.
Then we get the OTHER side of the argument, where people would say that pay to win is tossed out the window when everyone is tossed in the same place, with the same tools and powers, and made to make some effort to win. Even if some paid and others didn't.
Now there's the whole convenience part and this one is the one thing that makes people argue about pay to win. By detractors definition, and detractors meaning the people who see p2w pretty much everywhere, any f2p game, ANY, with a subscription system, IS a pay to win game, because those subs apparently give an unfair advantage, to paying players, which SHOULD be why pay to win should be hated. In the case of Tera, detractors feel that Elite status, which can be bought as vouchers on the broker by just paying gold you get by playing the game, in it's f2p status mind you, give an unfair advantage to players who have it, no matter how they got their hands on Elite.
Now. I'm not here to change the opinion of anybody. I myself side with the "Tera is not p2w" part because my definition of p2w doesn't include the whole getting there faster part. Only the part about getting better stuff through money than any f2p player, even those who buy elite by using gold, can't get. But as I said, since the concept of p2w is still very open to opinions, when someone says something different, I'll just concede and say "It's like your opinion man." And move on. With this, by no way, none, should anyone here tell anybody else to stfu. We all have the right, by Constitution even (since this server is in the US of A), to express our opinion unhindered.
This is solely my opinion. Saying it as I see it. Chill down folks. :awesome:
Well, I did say "could" and not "is". It's just a matter of a person's point of view on the matter. Even if you want to say selling VM gear isn't pay to win, you can't deny that it is actually harmful to the game. Just because something isn't pay to win does not mean it is okay or acceptable. I feel that is something most people don't understand. People tend to use an argument around how if something isn't pay to win that it should be allowed, and if it is pay to win then the other thing is automatically pay to win. How ever, that's not how it works. There are consequences for any mechanic and design in any game, whether good or bad.
Nice try but I'm not an idiot. I don't play this game anymore, I just sometimes come here to laugh at the fools who do.
Actually, you were the fool for falling for vkobe provocation.
This confuses me... For real...
Does paying make you a better player? Can you also buy skill? I'm confused..
Trying to get into the shoes of someone who thinks the game is p2w.... I suppose they can say that getting the gear by swiping and buying from a player who farmed, and Elite to piggyback you(I assume that'd be their words), they could see p2w in having according to them an easier time learning to play since you didn't have to go through the whole process of farming said gear, and as such, yes, skill can be 'sort of' bought. Again. Just trying to rationalize the argument of those I don't side with, in the most polite and non inflaming way. I personally don't mind who swipes, so long as the goal remains the same for those who grind.
Paying does not make a swiper a better player, but by having a stronger character, he will at least be stronger.
you're so bitter, it's hilarious.
all you people playing a video game as a pasttime? fools, idiots! unlike i who just stalks the forums and complains endlessly, which makes me superior, naturally. kudos my dude, you thoroughly one-upped all of us.
When you have the most kawaii Elin, which you obviously have failed to achieve, Jason.
Why hate on my swagged out Elin!?
