Archer skill question on radiant arrow and penetrating arrow

When you guys use these skill do you charge them up waisting a few seconds to get the big hits or just press button and let her fly? Which is better for higher DPS?

From what I understand, charge up is better. Tap shot does extremely little damage. Not sure on overcharge though,(would need input from a better archer player than me on this) but at least full charge is good. Arrow volley has a glyph that speeds up penetrating arrow charge as well. And radiant arrow charges fast enough. These two skills are more or less used in a basis similar to zerker's charge skills.
  • I go full charge, the difference in damage is pretty significant. Overcharge is probably not worth, though.

The full damage is when you full charge (red bar glow) every time you overcharge (each hp tick) you get +10% (additive damage). Overcharge not worth the time you waste doing that. The only time you overcharge is when you need move to the back of the boss in order to back crit. Other than that you should not overcharge.
  • Yeah what Ketoth said. Sometimes you have to overcharge if you're holding a shot while moving for better positioning. I was going to mention that but I was tired when I posted. Overcharge is fine if you're not ready to take the shot just yet, but if you have full back time already, just go for full charge on both. Fill in the short gaps between CDs with RoA, TB and (conditional) RF - RF is very ping dependent though. If you average much more than 100ms ping then you should probably drop RF from your rotation (or use only in mp regen emergencies when necessary).
  • you should not overcharge if you have green ping 0 to 75 i think cuz you can use rapid fire as filler if you have 75 or more the rapid fire have like 3 sec of animation so you overcharge

Should only be overcharging when you can easily rotate around a boss or if you have extremely high ping and RF isn't a viable option. Another example would be cage phase during Imperator where you're not exactly sure which pattern it'll be until the first show.

With a majority of archers going the route of cooldown archer nowadays, you'll rarely ever overcharge.
