Anyone else gonna try out Riders of Icarus?

I've heard it's going to play very similar to TERA, as far as people calling it "TERA 2.0."

Info here.

It's Nexon tho... so that's concerning. Looks amazing otherwise.

  • Some of my friends tried this when the first beta was out. Supposedly, its very fun with some interesting mechanics. I'll be giving it a try

Also, Nexon isn't as horrible as it used to be (IMO at least). They finally started responding to support tickets so. Yay for that at least.
  • Well that's good to hear. I'm just very wary of the p2w aspect Nexon has become infamous for. I guess we'll see. I'm looking forward to this game very much.
  • I think this looks like a lot of fun. Beautiful to look at and the story seems engaging. I'm a mount/pet lover so that made my day. True, it's soft tab-target and there aren't multiple races, but i love the character creation and the combat doesn't look all that different from B&S. It'll be a nice break from Tera.
  • F2P?
    is there IP block?
  • From what I understand it'll be F2P. I'm not sure about the IP block. And I agree @LadyTron, I'm excited for the capturing mounts and pets aspect of it (apparently there's a minigame associated with capturing).

That scene with the lady dropping from the sky onto the wyvern is so Avatar, dang.

Looks nice though, like most fantasy nerds I'm a big fan of dragons so I might look into this one, maybe after more videos crop up of like combat and stuff.

    I miss Dragon Prophet....
  • the official site has trailers for combat and game play, and yes, it is going to be F2P and on Steam.

Does this game has factions? And I mean, pvp and pvp forced/focused gameplay. I haven't checked the site, but being Nexxon, it's probably country blocked for me anyway. Mostly if it's ping dependent.
  • Just a reminder to anyone interested. Open beta will be up on Wednesday, July 6th.

Kinda meh for me. :/ Might have picked a bad class though (assassin).

It's up on Steam but has bad reviews. One of the biggest reasons people shoot down the game is the publisher. So one more reason to thank EME for being decent and forward about their stuff. :3
  • I was super hyped about this game at first. I've had people try and discourage me from trying it because of Nexon, but personally I don't care about publishers. I care about the game itself.

I wanted to love it, but besides being able to tame familiars/mounts/pets it just seems very boring. I played a couple of classes near the first cap of 25, and they are just boring. They have an 'action' play setting, but if anything it's similar to BnS, but imo it's a crappier version of it. The good thing though is that it doesn't SEEM to be P2W. Most of the stuff in their store seems similar to the quality of life stuff TERA has + aesthetic things like costumes and familiar skins (I could be wrong, but it doesn't look to be P2W). However, looking at it's talent system I think they intend their max level to be 50, but right now they just updated and they have a lvl 35 cap atm. So once the game gets settled it's possible they COULD implement stuff like that, if they are so infamous for it, but for right now it doesn't look like it. Overall, though, I think it is worth a try. Especially if you're a mount lover.

I wouldn't call it TERA 2.0, I didn't get that vibe at all. It is a cool idea though.

Tried it........it's not for me, IDK if it's cause I've been playing Tera for far too long but the Tab-Targeting just killed it for me. The Action camera mode was no help as you still need to Tab-Target mobs before you can attack them which to me defeats the purpose of the Action mode altogether. Also because it's built around Tab-Targeting you'll find that even if you're fighting a melee mob and you've rolled 10m away from it to dodge it's attack.......you still get hit because that's Tab-Targeting logic/mechanics, as far as Tab-Targeting is concerned you're still standing right next to the mob. (why have a dodge system at all then !?)

So far the only Tab-Targeting MMORPG I've been able to tolerate for more than 2 minutes is Guild Wars 2. Two MMOs has my interest currently.....Bless Online and Revelation Online, I wanted to try Black Desert Online but........not available in my region, I could use a VPN but.....why attend a party that you're not invited to ?!!
