DF Lancer iFrame Timing?

edited June 2016 in PvE Discussion
Sorry little baby noob here, but my accuracy on dodging the lasers and shockwave is about 65%. I just can't get the timing down yet, and as much as I want to practice, is there any sort of distance or timing like for example when I should turn around and iframe towards Verno or how far I should be from lasers before iframing?

I don't want to be a bother to my team and would like to make my accuracy 100%. Thank you :)

    It's basically:

Verno says "You will all Burn!"
Look at either one of his hands
Ring appears just as he presses his hands down on the ground.

the timing may vary depending on ping or your reflex/reaction time. As for me, I just swing cam > Backstep just before I see his hand slams to ground.

Other method is where if you turn the camera around so that it's inside Verno, you can see the ring render.

The timing can be tough to deal at first on the lasers. Usually when the laser comes, I somewhat step back a few meters from the boss and then turn my camera about 60-90 degrees and then i-frame. The i-frame timing is hard to explain for me. In normal mode you can survive them if you use iron will and practice the timing that way. But in hard mode the laser is much faster and it's a 1 shot if get hit by it.

I think I step back few steps back and then give myself about 90 degrees turn and wait till laser is about 4-5m from me and use iframe quick. The key is you want to have laser go opposite direction completely while your character is going the other way so when using i-frame, it covers that distance completely since our i-frame is so short. When I first started dodging lasers, I was doing it wrong at first because I didn't turn myself 90 degrees and instead stayed straight facing the boss.

In normal mode he will say," you all will burn". I believe that aoe comes from him and goes out ward. For this I step back about half way from boss and then have to turn camera around 180 degrees and iframe towards boss to evade that mech.

In hard mode, he will say "Burn" and that comes from the outer area that goes into boss. So I also put myself about half distance from the boss and get ready to iframe that. I apologize that I'm probably not as detailed in explaining the timing of the i-frame but I have a DFHM lancer recording I did recently. Just need to upload it sometime in the next few days and I will share with you and hopefully that will help.
  • TL;DR

i play with 150ms ping and i time my jump that way:if the laser/burn-cycle is the distance away u travel while doing your i-frame, jump.
To say it diffrent: if u would freeze the laser/burn-cycle jump the way so u would land on it.

Both AOE hit box > what you see on your screen. Not much by little.
( or I should say the effect u see on screen is come slower than what the actual hit box. )
You will all burn like other said that when u see boss raise hand n slam down, that the time iframe toward to boss.
NM is 2-3 hits HM is 1 shot.
Iframe to where it from but not where it go would be the safer way.
  • Thank you these were all very helpful and I can't wait to try it out.

I wasn't sure if you're looking for normal mode or hard mode and apologize for the delay but as promised here is the last boss fight for verno in hard mode:

    Hope it helps.
