Now if you wear regular low tier gear, and go PVP with 61-64 then it would be somewhat more of a fair fight. Good practice, too.

Not even close. Tera's level advantage is ridiculously strong. The other day I was on an alt brawler. Idoneal armour, 64 avatar weapon, no crystals, no meat grinder on skill bar and no clue how to PvP with that class. A lvl 64 ninja with PvP crystals(and basically the best gear he could get at the level) attacked me. I nailed him to the floor despite having no idea what I was doing.

You were on a brawler lol he didn't stand a chance

I'm sure it could [filtered] them off slightly, and yeah people insult in video games. I would an expect an [filtered] you, *sshole or something like that. My point is when they make it personal and go on and on about it like I just killed their parents or something. They act like it is the end of the world and the person doing it deserves to be hanged. I've seen people claim they will report it and complain to the mods hoping to get people banned. That is how serious they are making it.

well you are in a salty server, do you expect people stay nice and polite when you kill them in their back in a pvp server?

I'm sorry, but PKing and PvPing are not the same thing. Why do you think there are two distinct terms?

PKing noobs is for the weak who can't handle PvP. To say otherwise is to delude yourself.

Skilled PvPers do not PK lowbies, period.

If a skilled PvPer was hungering for some action, they would go outside Velika for duels, or they would at least only target geared 65's as outlaw, and leave the lowbies alone.

So your reasoning is that because PK and PVP are 2 distinct terms therefore they are not the same. With that logic, cat and feline are different because those are distinct terms also. PVP means player vs player. It does not mean player vs player of the same level or same skill, which you are clearly added connotations to the word that are not there. If that is what useless tautology you want to bring, then PVP is imaginary since there is always someone you will face with better or worse lvl, gear or skill than you or anyone else. Fair fights are imaginary, not only in video games but in real life.

    OP's mental gymnastics doe

Actually I am not. That is why I gave the wiki article to show that the 2 terms are synonymous. Here is another definition from Webopedia:

"Short for player versus player PVP is a type of video or computer games in which the in-game combat takes place between two human players (gamers) rather than a player and a computer controlled opponent."

    http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/P/PVP.html

Notice in that definition also there is nothing about a fair fight, having the same lvl, same gear and so on.

LOL OP, such nawb. Git gud pls and learn how 2 pvp.

I already know how to PVP and I do the same thing that anti-PVPers do. I pick fights with people I am confident I will beat :D
  • I'm sure OP is trolling for reactions ("I was just pretending!") but... this sort of thing is like considering yourself a skilled PvE-er because you can kill level 1-64 mobs in one hit with a fully-geared level 65. Yeah, it's technically PvE, but the "versus" part is smaller than a -3 height elin.

When did I mention, or any other PVPer/PKer mention that they were more skilled for killing them? That is a straw man. Use logic next time please.

Oh how pretentious and wrong. PKing is just player killing. its pvp. stop pretending to know what they really mean by putting your definition of it

Like how throwing punches at a defenseless 12 year old is still technically fighting?

    Lol

Well it would be if the 12 year old swung back. Do you need to dictionary definition for what a fight is too or do you prefer just make sh*t up as you go along? No one is claiming that a lvl 65 killing someone at a lower level is a "fair" fight, or an grown adult beating up a 12 year old is a fair fight either. But if it fits the definition of what constitutes a fight then it is, even it is not fair. Also by what standard are any of you going by that would even constitute fairness? I would imagine having the same lvl, the same gear, same skill and so on. If that is, then a fair fight is imaginary since someone will always have an edge over their opponent. It is just a matter of by what degree.

Basically this thread was made to tell lowbies to "suck it up and don't yell at me for killing you"?

Now. In Tera, is possible to kill lower levels in both pvp and pve. In both instances, the killer gets pretty much no gain(Unless there's a player kill achievement like in BnS which gives you actual character stat buffs for killing 1000 players, lower levels included.).

Now, coming to the forums to tell everyone you killed to shut up because is a game should also be applied to you. So, since nobody seems to have told this directly to you. Chill. Don't get angry if someone else rages and insults you for killing his low level virtual persona. The same as you say, "It's just a game", say to yourself, "those are just words." Let em slide and move on.

To everyone else. The pvpve servers allow killing of lowbies and everyone in there should come prepared to have a lowbie killer around. Now, greater judgement should be exercised if one sees that the same level 65, or 65s of the same guild keep coming at you, seeking you specifically with the sole intention of stopping from playing the game(cases like this have happened and people have been banned for preventing other specific players from playing the game)

Likewise, as a lowbie killer, you should come prepared to receive salt from players you engage because it's pretty much the same case. They can't stop you from killing them, so what right do you have to stop them from yelling at you afterwards? Give and take. Take and give.

I have no problem with the insults. I already mentioned on this thread it comes with the territory and I expect it. What I am talking about is when the lowbie threatens to have the PVPer banned for doing so, or takes the game so seriously, instead of just giving the generic insult they go on a long winded drone and harp on it for hours. That is a bit much. I mean what were they expecting, that they would kill NPCs all the way to lvl 65 and no one bother them the whole time, and any PVP that they went into would be completely consensual?

@Insanevil First of all, just do one post man. Use quotes or @.

You can throw all the wiki definitions and whatever other definitions you want at us, and it doesn't change the fact that you are wrong.

If I went to a boxing "Fight," expecting a real fight, but it was actually an 8 year old vs. a professional boxer, and the boxer won in a single punch, I would be outraged, and everyone there would say that that was no fight!! "Ohhhhhh, but the 8 year old CHOSE to step in the ring, and even took a swing!" Lulz, yeah, sure...

You can argue technicalities all you like, but it only makes you sound stupid.

I can bang my hands on a piano and call it a song, but that's no bloody song! But if you want to get technical, it is! Herp a derp derp!

If I went around challenging people to a fight, and they put up their dukes expecting some fisticuffs, but then I pull out a gun and shoot them....Yeah, I think them being pissed off and wanting to get you arrested (banned), would be pretty understandable behavior.

To come and complain about it on the forums is ridiculous. Cry me a river. You're the one who chose to be a good for nothing PKer. If people hurt your feelings, then maybe you shouldn't PK?

PKing noobs is for the weak.

My same advice still applies. If it's too much bother after the nth' whisper, just block them. Not everyone out there has the same level of tolerance, nor they see characters in a video game the same way. PK a passionate roleplayer and you will see my point. :3 Now. I'm not asking you to stop posting your thoughts here. Everyone has the right to do so as long as the TOS is respected. But also remember that many thoughts and ideas may have more detractors than one thinks.

@Insanevil by your logic house cats and lions are the same thing, because technically speaking they are both felines. So you should be able to walk right up to a lion and pet it; the same as I walk into my house and pet my cat.
