Fudge these fudging giants!

out of all the IoD bams the ice giants are the most annoying. they do this thing where they "glide" towards you, not walk, glide. WTF is that?!?!?!!
these stupid plate bams just glide towards you so fast, anything other then brawler and its super annoying.

All of em trample, just the ice giants do it more often. It is a bit annoying on the non-tanks and immobile classes.

    when brawling they're awesome tho

The "glide" usually happens when using a slowing effect on them. Though seen them do it without even that. Another annoying thing most of them do is turn around in an instant. No turning animation. Say, use backstab, and by the time the attack is hitting, they have already turned.

Other than that, I also don't like that most of their attacks will hit behind them too.

I think the biggest problem with IoD bams, as I said long ago, is that IoD is not really a place for bams because of terrain disparity. Way too many height changes. Before, bams were spawned on more level grounds, with few height differences. Sure. I could be missing some old bam places that might debunk this, but from what I remember, almost all old bam places didn't have the terrain changes IoD has.

went from 100% to 20% today from a giant trampling out of nowhere. Quickly killed it and logged off for the day

I actually think one of the biggest problems with a lot of high-end BAMs is their size. I know, I know, but please bear with me on this while I elaborate.

Because of their increased size, even proper dodging can still leave the player either inside the BAM's body or hitbox leading to possible knockdowns or damage. With my Ninja, for example, I can dodge to the back of a Fimbrilisk and still get hit with that stupid double-swipe bleed-attack(for some reason). This even occurs when I use Decoy Jutsu since it places the character inside the hitbox. Yes, it literally extends to the entire back of the mob. You can see this on IoD and Alliance BAMs. Dodging to the side works out all right most of the time, but having a backstab fail is just hilarious. The increased sizes of the hitboxes in some places is just ridiculous.

This also occurs on Giants when they charge. You can just dodge right through them and the hitbox is so damn big it still hits you. Madness!

There are also serious hitbox issues with Fangspawns but that is nothing new to anyone at this point. Although, the above problems still occur.

The insta-trample is just flat out annoying too. Oh, and @Nopi you are so right about the terrain issues too. So many failed backstabs....

On giants there's little you can do about it, with classes with more or less fast stuns you can prevent them from using their charge attack, but the trample is really random, i guess that's the most annoying thing about those IoD BAMs. other than that, I think I dislikle fimbrilisks almost as much, they have a ver irregular hit box.

The thing that most annoys me is that BAMs from the very start were billed as "party monsters"- i.e. you had to have a party to take them down. That began to change with the BAM nerf (some people may remember when Basilisks in Oblivion Woods were thoroughly destructive, and taking one on alone was almost [filtered]), but the problem is that BHS -didn't- change the mechanics associated with each BAM. What this means is that you have large monsters designed from the ground up to be fought by more than one person, then dropped into an area not designed for them (as mentioned in a post above) and in such a way that actively discourages you from grouping up to kill them.

my warning level went from 2 to 4 because i posted this topic in caps o:) the bam giants are just very frustrating on cloth classes, you get some distance between you and then they just glide right to you x2 faster then they usually walk.
    hence the caps.

I've some problem with Hydraths. Apparently sometimes even if i have front cover after RHK i can be hit while executing Haymaker. A bit annoying!

I hate getting KD'ed when I'm at their back, that's my bigged peeve with giants.
  • I HATE giants! Their trample isn't just an attack, it's an aura. If you touch them at all, in any way, from any angle, it's KD. It doesn't matter what they're doing or how they're attacking.
  • Yeah, I especially hate when they knock you down while you're behind them ;_;
