Slayer or Zerker?

    I play zerker with high ping AND low FPS and I still can do decently well, I'm not the best zerker but I've certainly dedicated to it more investment and practice than most people. I'm sometimes beating slayers with lower ping in same gear (both imperator +15 weapon) that I wouldn't say are bad at all, though there is a lack of consistency in this because zerk DPS lives and dies by crit chance much more heavily than other classes and more often than not I struggle and have to work really hard under my conditions (AKA potato PC from Europe).

    For perspective, generally for a class to have 66% crit chance is very good, with a mystic in party. When I get 66% it's pretty ok, but I can and ideally want 70%+. I get anywhere between 55-75%.

    Surviving on zerk also tends to be harder and unless godly gear a lot of attacks in SSHM (and other past HMs/DS uppers) bleed through block, so you have to work with your movement skills or longer CD than average iframes. You want to do this in any dungeon anyway even if easy, less blocking time equals more charging attacks while you move to avoid hits, or using evasive smash to iframe to then unload the attack. Evasive roll is still extremely helpful and on shorter CD, ES is not always available when you need it. Also Unbreakable's cast animation is an iframe for emergencies. Slayers and other classes in general are way, way more straightforward when it comes to avoiding getting your rear handed to you.

    So what I'm saying is, zerk requires a huge investment in gear (crit factor in particular) to start shining, before you have a lot of crit the class has a very hard time doing well, and after you have all that crit you really have to be at the top of your game to shine. Positioning and knowing the right rotation/priority skills (yes, there is such a thing for this class! And yes, a lot of zerks don't play correctly) has to be a pretty precise science or you get a heavy DPS loss in no time. IMO Slayer, while also requiring a lot of this investment in crit, gives overall a much easier time and can start doing well before a zerk does.

    You have to really love zerkers and there is a reason you don't see many of us, and often those you see perform poorly.

    The upcoming 20% thunderstrike damage buff is gonna be good stuff and I can't wait.

    I personally love my zerker, its my fave class of all time now after getting to end game with it. I'm not sure how they are supposed to be played but either way I'm enjoying it and would never change my main now xD

    Charging skill class requires lower ping. Lower ping = charging faster.

    Zerker = low ping

    slayer = high ping is ok.

    I live in England but play on NA, ping never seems to be a problem to me lmao

    I am not saying that you will have problem with charging skill under higher ping. WIth lower ping, the charging skill time is faster.

    With 100~200ms ping, archer and zerker take longer time to finish charging compare to lower ping player.

    On options, activate the fps counter(or clock or both. dunno exactly which but I'm mostly sure it's fps counter). Then in game hover your cursor over it and it shows your ping.
  • I personally prefer Slayer. The Slayer gameplay is like dancing in the battlefield, everything you do flows in battle with an admirable rythm. Saying in other words, slayers can be very versatile, you have a good survivability because of the mobility, and you have good damage. The class may seem slow motion early on, but at 65 you will see that Slayer is one of the fastest classes in the game. Your chain skills animation cancel each other, and this is possible even at my 170 ping. The damage is also satisfying, hitting that crit on Measured slice will wet your pants.
    I didn't play Zerker to 65, but i didn't like the charge-release skill setup. Also, i like the mobility, and zerkers lack on it sometimes.
