New PvE Ninja Nerfs - Best chest roll? Double Cut vs. CoS Playstyles?

edited July 2016 in PvE Discussion
Up until now, I've been running the 10% DMG on Circle of Steel (which recently got nerfed) on my chest.
I've always personally used CoS as my main source of DPS because I felt it was more reliable than Double Cut resets (Plus the usage of Decoy Jutsu's iframe becomes more difficult as it is more core in Double Cut reset playstyle.)

Though it's always been debated that running either CoS or Double Cut glyph set pages yield the same amount of DPS,
I was wondering if now since CoS is nerfed that there is more of a difference between the two playstyles or are they still about the same?

I've been running this Hybrid glyph page where I do both cd/dmg on CoS and resets for Double Cut instead of some attunement glyphs.
But I may switch to more a more Double Cut centered glyph build with attunement glyphed for extra chakra/speed.
Thoughts?

After nerfs, kTera dropped the usage of CoS, BUT, they have talent system, and can replace with other things, like Fire breath usage (their talent system allows insane chi replenishing). I myself need to check my ninja to see if CoS is still useful as part of my rotation. Though for chest, if you want to use double cut, that's a better choice in my opinion because we are talking about a skill that hits quite hard and has not been nerfed.

My own experience with double cut reset hasn't been good(yes I do have the upgraded glyph but still hardly ever resets), but maybe if I keep practicing with that rotation I may eventually see the benefits of it. That or screw my rng.

I used Double Cut Overline already before the CoS-Nerf so... for me personally nothing changes.

Yeah I'm probably gana experiment to see if it's dps still holds up. Double cut's base is still lower than CoS's by a good amount even after the nerfs (even more so if you include the 30% powerlink from skyfall) but since its possible for it to reset, double cut may be better now just math wise if we're comparing base damage.

My experience with it while running both reset and CoS glyphs, generally Double Cut was able to keep up in DPS with CoS. Maybe now I'll go ahead and try DC line anyways, but I'm not sure..

Yeah I've seen a lot more ninjas run DC line (or even SF line..?) Over CoS. Personally CoS felt a lot more consistent just because it didn't rely on resets, but now .... I'm not too sure.

Here's some more info I remembered. ktera players weren't too fond of CoS from the start because the length of it's animation. It's much easier to have CoS interrupted than DC. Double cut lasts somewhere about half a second. It's just two hits and can reset on the spot. CoS leaves you in place for somewhere around a second or more if you want to do all it's damage, and the last hit is the biggest chunk of the damage, so you are forced to stay there till the end if you want to make it worthwhile. Sure, in an environment where you are not interrupted, CoS is very viable in a rotation, but with tera's dungeons more and more empathizing dodge or die mechanics, interruptions are more common.

Oh, and I haven't logged on my ninja for awhile so I didn't know what I had on my chest roll. I just checked. It's double cut. :3

Ninja's main dps skill is double cut and skyfall.

CoS doesn't have extra crit chance or crit rate.

CoS still does the similar damage in a normal fight compared to DC and SF.

i tested a double cut rotation recently, and to me, the increase in dps was stupid insane. I don't think I was using my CoS rotation wrongly, but still the double cut rotation is just too mean. It IS a bit trickier to get it rolling on a control pad. But nothing some practice won't fix. I still fear that once I get it down, my ninja will become a snorefest again.
