Energetic etching and attack speed crystals for reaper?

Hello!

I have +12 Slaughter reaper and I don'h have time to farm for sf, especially as I see that I can make most of the content now. I just feel myself really slooooooow. As I saw guides at youtube the reapers can be way faster. So is this a good idea to go for energetic? I have cdr and 3 damage rolls on weapon. Maybe roll 2 attack speed on gloves instead of 1% mana regen or even 3 lines? What are your thoughts? Is anyone using this strategy or this is only good for healers?

if you don't have good ping, don't play reaper. As far as I remember, people said that reaper is as ping dependent as lancer and warrior.

Videos on youtube are also not reliable, as the people who post it have a really low ping, so they can activate skills faster, so I don't usually compare myself with them.

It's not like my skills don't activate in time. They are. I have like 80 ping and it's rare I feel the pause between key and skill. It's just like, for example, the video's grim strike goes like "BOOM!" and mine "boo-oo-oo-oom". Something like that. I think the point is in the attack speed stat. I'm considering whether it's worth to sacrifice crit factor on teachings for attack speed in the case I'm not going to make sf.

Well SF and up isn't needed indeed. Slaughter +12 is enough for everything, given you are also competent as a player. Also remember that on reaper some skills get MUCH faster when linked from another skill. Just check the descriptions on what links off what. As for your weapon, I'd keep it at 2X enraged, flat and behind if you are going for pve. For pvp, consult a guide as I'm not proficient on that. Glove should have the atk speed buff instead of mana. Most people who do end game and starve for mana rely on healers and pots anyway. Etching could be keen if you don't have enough crit factor. And on this patch, anything lower than base+200 may be a little bit low. I don't remember how many reaper skills have any crit chance/factor buffing glyphs, if any. So I'd check those too.

Just remember that by adding too much attack speed you may be missing on crit rates or crit power. So get those to optimal numbers first, then the rest can be tossed into attack speed.

Read this to solve your problem.

I can't change your ping/PC but if you follow the rest of my advice you will be at the proper speed for a PvE Reaper. If you don't feel fast enough after, maybe you shoud switch to PvP. PvP Reapers are super fast b/c it helps them. Too much aspd/cdr hurts PvE Reaper damage.

    **IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW**
Always attack speed top line for PvE Reaper *There is one exception to this rule, but it doesn't apply here*
Also, keep 1 aspd roll on gloves and keep both keen etchings.

Here is the PvE Reaper Bible: Redstrike's Reaper guide: http://www.essentialmana.com/redstrikes-advanced-reaper-guide/

Follow his rolls/crystals and all his advice. It's the best source for PvE Reaper and he is one of the best Reaper players.

Last thing. Slaughter replaced Dreadnaught in the tier list this patch. Therefore, anything the guide says about rolling Dread gear also applies to Slaughter.
  • TY all for advices! I will change my top line stat at weapon. This should help.

It was my understanding that reaper is one of the most ping friendly classes having long long animations and lots of super cancels.
