I think I am doing something wrong with sorcerer need help

Hey all I am only 38 and have been fooling around with a friend but I think I am doing something wrong. I get a Time Gyre on him and then I try to cast the sleep spell but for some reason the time spell wears off so damn fast I cant get him to sleep. Is there something I am doing wrong? He is a slayer? Thanks...

  • I don't know how sorc pvp combos work but did you try using burst of celerity before going into your combos? Attack speed makes cast time shorter. Also, you aren't lvl 65 yet. For pvp, once you do reach 65, you tend to build a lot of attack speed on your gear and stuff casts a lot faster.

For that spell, it's broken as soon as they take damage. You should use that spell only if you need to back off or interrupt a move/combo from another player/monster.
  • So how do I set them up for a fire blast?
  • Stun trap or root

I've seen sorcs do something along the lines of magma bomb for stagger, jaunt -> stun trap, sleep, fireblast

Burst of Celerity will also help with these combos
  • I'm a little outdated on playing sorc, but i used to have a glyph on ice spike, that made the sleep skill faster. Knowing that time gyre goes off as soon as the enemy takes dmg, i would miss the ice spike, and then cast sleep. This was reeeealy fast after the ice spike. It worked even without the Burst of Celerity buff.
  • OK so cast time gyre then ice spike with the proper glyph then sleep? Do some of our spells have a dot? It seems that as soon as I cast time gyre it breaks or maybe it doesn't even land? Is it possible for players to resist?

Pain Blast and Burning Breath has a DoT on them

Remember that some low level skills have lower CC time, like how zerker have a fast Fear until the last version of it, i dont remember how it works for Gyre but maybe it can be that.

Time Gyre doesn't stop all movement. Movement skills still work, so if he, for example, uses Headlong Rush or Leaping Strike or any move that can also be used for instant movement (Backstab and things similar), they can escape the TG. They still won't be able to move regularly until the debuff wears out, but they can escape the general area.

Slayer, for example, has HLR, Backstab (assuming within distance), and Leaping Strike, all moves that can allow him to escape a TG, and to a lesser degree, KDS + OHS (and possibly Eviscerate if you can get in range of sorc). Setting up class like Slayer requires a Stunning Trap. Hell, most classes who get TG will just iFrame your Sleep anyways, so you should only go for the combo if you stun them or if you know that none of their movement/iframe moves are off cd. Don't depend on TG is what I'm trying to get at.

Also I don't know if you have BoC at that level or not, but BoC is very important, as is the glyph that increases the speed of BoC.
