Sorcerers Are Magic Creatures...why can't they heal?

New to the forum and so to Tera so please be kind. =)
I've always been playing Sorc in all my online games, and it's a given that Sorcerers are squishy class.
To be fair with this class will it be possible that they too be given a chance to at least heal and be fair with the rest of the classes, especially one-on-one against the new OP classes?
Sorcerers are magic creatures, so as Mystic and Priests but wondering why Tera has not made them capable of healing at least themselves (self-heal or at least a little percentage compare to priest and mystic).
Gunners have their summon to heal, but Sorcs got no summon to do that. Can Tera make the old classes be given a chance to upgrade and be of equal to new classes?

    Welcome to the forums. Anyway. Not gonna try to explain this to defend anyone because I agree with you to some extent. It seems BHS earns more money by making a female only race with overpowered skills than fixing or balancing anything else. Now, I do agree that sorcs are magic beings and that it's unfair that all three new classes have self heals and even death prevention shenanigans, but at least my opinion is not that sorcs should have a heal, but that the new classes shouldn't have healing. I suppose we are not following the old tank, heals, dps trinity so strictly now.

    in PvE, sorcs will need a little more defence, a little more crit rate, a little more damage. Not heal.

    In PvP, sorcs get their fantasy if they aren't hit anyway. Instead they have the strongest damage nullify skills in the entire game (Warp Barrier, Stone Skin). They have a pseudo Kaia's (Mana Barrier), AoE sleep (which is good enough unless an idiot in CS decides to disrupt it), A nerfed stun trap which is still decent enough to throw 1-2 more skills etc. Just not a 100-0 combo every single time you face a sorc is enough. A 1v1 against a gunner usually means you need to go through two full bursts while not being hit by the stun grenade to prevent yourself from being almost one shotted by an arcane barrage.

    Remember that there ARE classes that don't even have healing capabilities like Sorcerer - Archer, Slayer.

    I would agree that HB gives way too much utility to gunners, just like how brawler's 3rd Combo Attack-Counter combo is stupidly broken in PvP. But yeah, the problem is it is not really about buffing the old classes with utility like heals etc(they can do that but 90% of the time it is not beneficial), but toning down the stark amount of damage the new classes can do. That's why people have been complaining more about the newer classes than the older ones, and usually the older classes complain BECAUSE of the newer classes in the first place.

    Yeah there are classes that don't have self heals like archer and slayer, but those classes are not cloth classes. You know they have double the defense of sorcerer. They don't need a self heal. Until recently if you wanted to do decent dps as sorc you had to play it as melee. Saying other classes have it as hard is kinda moot, because they don't.

    Look at it this way. Archers only have 1 invulnerability frame which iirc has a 8s cooldown. Slayers have double roll late on which makes them fine.
    Sorcerers have Teleport Jaunt, Backstep AND Warp Barrier which lets them have a grand total of 4 seconds of invul time every 12 or so seconds. If even more mobility is needed, there is Glacial Retreat. If you know how to panic button right, Stone Skin is basically ultimate BM. That is basically Mystics AND Priest's dodge skills combined. If you die in PvP even after all this, 99% of the times it is because you are focused to begin with, or you make a blunder that will cause you to die regardless of class unless you are an easy-mode brawler.

    Even if sorcerers have half defence of what leather armor, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever to have a selfheal. They can have more defense stat. But no they don't need self regeneration. Mana Barrier makes up for that by itself in a party for PvE.

    And I have been at the times where sorc is played melee. You should still play a sorc near melee range anyway (with the exception of probably monsters that love to jump backwards without warning like Kalivan).

    Lastly, in endgame dungeons, if you are hit, 99% of the time you either live or die regardless of class anyway, so defense stat in PvE is really a bad point. In PvP, if you are focused down as a cloth or leather class, you will die regardless as well. It only means you can make less mistakes than a gunner

    Also, case on point: Ninjas (who also wear cloth) won't get a death passive. Not too sure if they have regenerating skills, but I guess it will most likely be from a glyph you won't use anyway.

    Look at the real problems of the class: Crit dependent in PvE meant that either you crit and get your less than optimal damage or you don't and fall out on lots of damage compared to the newer classes. CC chains aren't permanent anymore but cooldown nerfs were a little too much on them. That doesn't mean they can't outplay you by switching to a find-an-opening mentality, but it could be better. Some defence stat buffs on the armor for sorcerers would be nice but not really needed. Sorcerers are also not the easiest class to play properly in both PvP and PvE but I believe it is not impossible to play it well.

    TL;DR: Focus more on balancing the newer classes, make them not broken because that is the easiest way to kill playerbase.

  • Still find it unfair compare to newer classes. When a reaper or brawler got you stunned, escaping is even less of an option as these two got the skills to chase you in no time.
    I've always love playing Sorcerer and can play it quite well but pity how Tera made them so frail without giving them a chance to be of equal to the rest.
    The rest of the classes without heals are well compensated with their armors, but Sorcs wore cloth.
    If only Tera can give them more justice it would be more fun playing them.
