Honestly, you may be right, but I'm not so sure. People in this game seem remarkably willing to put up with classes they find less fun to play (and abandon classes they love) if they feel it will help them be more accepted in parties, have a greater advantage in PvP, and overall make it easier to play and progress in the game. A lot of the gnashing of teeth on the forum about class balance is because people feel their favored class isn't "viable" and they're being forced/coerced into playing the new classes by the balance meta.
But besides all that, over the short term, it's a lot easier to adjust the balance by number than it is to completely adjust the playstyle. It doesn't mean that they can't "make lancers [more] fun" eventually, but they can't tackle every problem at once with the size of their team.
The Riot Games approach to design. "We're not going to fix this correctly right now, so here's patchwork fixes that modify the problem slightly." It works for LoL because when they make a champ non-viable until they are ready to fix them proper, there are 100+ more champions to choose from. BHS doesn't have that - there's only 3 tank classes and 1 is already considered non-viable. They should let the Brawler DPS nerf speak for itself and really think about how they want Lancers, Brawlers, and Warriors to be different without making one objectively better for groups.
There's a pretty big difference between Sorc and Warrior when it comes down to mobility, i-frames and class mechanics.
It would be nice if Warrior's Defense Stance was reworked as an evasive tank.
You pve scum.... the neft is in pvp, where you can no longer use warp barrier to secure landing a trap or flame pillar to peel yourself off some melee dps from your [filtered] or succesfully cast a fireblast without getting staggered out of its long [filtered] animation. Every class has a semi-broken skill, this was the sorcerer's one and now they took it away, what about other classes? Don't they also have ridiculous mechanics or strong skills "with no penalty" that should also be removed? If you ask me that I could name quite a few, especially for the new classes.
Exactly.
You are right, but no need to go SO ballistic on us pve plebs. Mostly since, many of us also agree with you.
warp barrier is not secure u can stun the sorc and most classes have more then one stuns so i dont see why they are changing it
Remember, this nerf will come with the buff of 100% BoC uptime (will be changed into passive) and trap cast speed, so it's totally understandable. You just have to change the way you play it to not rely on that cheesy combo.
this is true but starfall gloves are still BiS healing gloves, not imp which means the healing modifiers obviously weren't enough
